[10.10.08] Billy: The Early Years—about the genesis of Billy Graham's ministry—hit 282 screens in the Southeast and Texas Friday.Directed by Robby Benson, the film stars Armie Hammer (Veronica Mars, Flicka) as the young evangelist and takes viewers through Graham's early years, as he meets his future wife, Ruth, and forms a friendship with Charles Templeton. In addition, the film features performances by Martin Landau, Stefanie Butler, Lindsay Wagner and country singer Josh Turner as George Beverly Shea.

Rated PG for thematic material—including some disturbing images, brief language and smoking—Billy has received lukewarm reviews.

"Hot on the heels of Fireproof—a Christian drama that briefly cracked the box office top 10—comes this earnest, sometimes amateurish biography," The St. Petersburg Times observed. "Billy has the shallow look of a TV movie and performances smacking of ham."

The Orlando Sentinel said that Hammer "has so little of the evangelist's fire. He lacks those scary-intense eyes that made you believe he believed your very soul hung in the balance. … A bland leading man in a movie without much of a biographical spark to it makes for a dull sermon indeed."

Barry Landis, founder of the film's marketing company Landis Entertainment & Media Partners, said the movie producers had no official input from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). However, he added that Graham's family members do have copies of the film and that Graham's eldest daughter, Gigi, has expressed her support and enthusiasm. BGEA President Franklin Graham, though, recently criticized the film.

To coincide with the movie, Thomas Nelson will release the film's adaptation—Billy: The Untold Story of a Young Billy Graham and the Test of Faith That Almost Changed Everything by William Paul McKay and Ken Abraham—on Oct. 28. The film's soundtrack released Oct. 7.-Christian Retailing

It appears I forgot about some shows in my last post.

90210: Annie is still annoyingly cheerful and happy and I'm trying to figure out if people have not learned anything from the shows of the last years, such as The O.C. or One Tree Hill. 90210 feels very wooden and fake, everything seems to perfect. Where are the real dramas? Where are the strong characters that stand out?

At Home with the Braithwaites: I remember watching this show first eight years ago when the first season was on TV. It's all about the family Braithwaite and how Allison wins 38 million pounds in the lottery. Season 1 involves her starting her own charity and trying to conceal it from her family; Season 2 shows the entire family struggling with the new found wealth and Allison falling in love with her husbands brother; Season 3 has the lottery company claiming the money back after it was revealed that the ticket was illegally bought by the underage daughter and Season 4, well, let's not mention Season 4.. Of course this series would be nothing without it's characters. Most of them are unlikeable, but there's chemistry between them all and even more so, they're believable.

Desperate Housewives: The show's got a very different atmosphere and at the moment I am not too sure I will continue watching it. I dislike all the characters and there seems to be far too much going on with new characters and explanations of the past to concentrate on what made this series great - the friendships between the main characters.

Dexter: Many people have recommended Dexter to me and how it's the next best thing to sliced bread and after reading it's got Angel's Darla in a major role I knew I had to watch it. I didn't like the first episode. I really disliked the second episode and tried my best to watch beyond episode four, but I don't like it. I don't like the characters, the story, the camera work, nothing. Now many people would just move on and say the show is rubbish, who cares, but it is very unusual for me to not like something recommended to me by so many people with similar tastes. If you happen to come across this and like Dexter, please tell me why you like it.

Respectable: It's another UK show of which only one season was made. It's all about a brothel with some strange working girls. All the characters are great in their own way from Hayley to Maureen, Yelena and Michael and it's a shame this didn't carry on.

Sanctuary: It seems very much like Torchwood and whilst I like Torchwood I am not too sure this works. Robin Dunne is annoying and doesn't have half as much charisma as he needs and I liked Amanda Tapping much more in the few bits of Stargate I watched over the years. But, it appears that this is a show with a few previous Stargate characters which makes it good for the fans. I suppose it's the same reason I liked some episodes of Heroes as it had Kristen Bell and David Anders. However, there is something intriguing about the show, the characters or rather the creatures seem interesting and I want to know how everything happened and what it all means.

True Blood: I'm not too convinced I like the latest episode of True Blood. Just like many before it's dragged along far too much, however the last scene more than made up for it. Wow, I did not see this coming. And it makes me wonder who the serial killer is, especially after Bill said a vampire would never leave the blood behind. And what does the bar owner have to hide?

All in all it kind of feels like TV has become so serious lately, all the new Sci-Fi shows are so grown up and gritty. What happened to shows like Buffy? So many shows are related to terrorism or messed up characters or they just look extremely dull all in grey and brown tones preferably with a lot of rain. I wish there was more humour or snark on TV these days.

Only three more months until Dollhouse!

UPDATE: Thanks to all my awesome readers, the mystery man has been identified as Chris Lowell. Her friend and former co-star on "Veronica Mars." So could it have just been two friends at the movies?

Nešto poput My Name is Earl, ali sa bivšim dečkima.

Prvi, najveći i meni nikad objašnjiv (vidi Prison Break) - premisa serije sama si ograničava duljinu trajanja: mora se udati u roku godine dana?

One thing I really miss about living in the States is the TV there. Not the melodramtic stuff like Grey's Anatomy (because those Korean/Japanese TV shows give way more pathos without the skanky/sex-sells stuff/emo+blatantly-trying-to-connect-with-you) but more like shows that center around the lives of teenagers that obviously aren't in real life. Call it my I-missed-out-in-the-90210-years syndrome of something, but there's obviously something really addicting back it. It probably all started with The O.C and now has culminated into another addiction - Veronica Mars. Sure, back in the day, I figured that a lame name equals a lame show. Then I realized that I watched shows like Final Fu and Springer, and learnt to accept my poor taste in show.

Then one day, innocent ol' me got suckered into watching one episode, or thirty... Whatever, details details. I tried enrolling in the ten step program to get myself off this show, but unfortunately, each step was named "one more show". At least it's rekindled my love for quips, because obviously, not so many people around me enjoy it as much. Sometimes these quips pop out of nowhere, and I have to rein them in before more damage is done. [Side note: "One more show" is a slanted reference to Sid Meier's PC (well, now on Xbox360 also at a good store near you of course) game Civilization, whose latest game has a hilarious trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br1BWPWEdlQ]

For example, once I met this girl and she told me that she left JC and went to work in the theatre for a few years. Although I was incredibly fascinated wanted to find out more about her experience, all I wanted to do was ask her if she worked in Lido or Cineleisure. I was chortling to myself throughout the conversation heh heh.

Oh well. I wish I could write more.

Off to bed. Another day in the trenches awaits.

One more show.

I’ve been watching some more TV shows lately and there was some great stuff amongst it, as wel

I've been watching some more TV shows lately and there was some great stuff amongst it, as well as some stuff that disappointed me. I've mentioned some of the shows the other week in a similar post.

Angel: Being such a big Buffy fan I never really could get into Angel. I suppose it was mainly because I liked the dynamics of Buffy, the supporting cast and the dialogue. Angel just always seemed to try and be all gritty, urban and LA. However, it appears I was wrong, Angel is actually very good, the characters are great and I love Cordelia played by Charisma Carpenter. Her character has evolved so much since she started on Buffy. I'm not all convinced by some of the storylines in Angel though. Yes, I can understand and follow the arc in Pylea, but ever since Connor was born it has lacked. Everything that made the show good which is mainly how the characters work with each other isn't really there and the entire Cordelia ascension arc wasn't convincing.

Clone Wars: Liked it!

Desperate Housewives: Glad to see this back, but I'm not sure I actually like the show any more! They went all One Tree Hill, let's jump in the future, but the characters appear to have become unlikeable. Especially Susan which was such a great character. The mystery this season looks like it'll be good though, Edie and her new husband seem very intriguing.

Eureka: Eureka is a bit of a weird show, sometimes I feel like it doesn't quite know what it wants to do. The Sheriff annoys me more than he doesn't, I don't see why people like Allison Blake and it's too much of a weekly mystery show with no substantial arc. Well, that changed this season and they tried to implement a story arc which sort of worked, even though it felt extremely rushed at the end. And then there's the midseason break with a big cliffhanger. It's almost like it's an J. J. Abrams show!

Fringe: Meh. I don't like it. I don't like any of the characters, the show is incredibly boring and the only reason I'm still watching it is.. Well, I suppose I'm hoping for it to get better. The entire show doesn't make sense, it's a lot like Eureka apart from the light heartedness. The only thing I really like about the show is the superimposed lettering every time a new location is shown. It's a shame, I quite like Joshua Jackson.

Gossip Girl: The Bitch is back.. After all the 'It's not what you think' and 'I'm sorry' and the puppy dog eyes Serena and Dan are finally broken up. Serena is actually an interesting character now, but also quite unlikeable. Everyone apart from Jenny is incredibly boring and Dan gets more annoying with every episode. Can't they write him out or something?

Heroes: And another meh. Season 2 was ok ish at the end cause stuff actually happened and I liked some of the characters in it, but this season seems to have gone back to just being slow and boring. "Sylar, I'm your mother", Claire who is special [didn't we all know that from her you know, healing abilities and the 'Save the cheerleader, Save the world' crap anyway?], copper who is on a quest, Hiro and his mate doing the same as always and oh look, we've run out of storylines and have brought in a twin. Original.. It was nice seeing Veronica Mars' Francis Capra though, shame him and Kristen Bell didn't have any scenes together.

Jam and Jerusalem: What a brilliant show! It takes a while getting used to it and it is quite slow, but so, so brilliant. I have to admit, I don't like the main character at all, but her daughter is very good. As are the other women of the guild, the rich Caroline with her constant remarks of her son's friends, for example the Kaiser Chiefs or how an Arctic Monkey broke her dishwasher. The schizophrenic Dawn French or Joanna Lumley.. Everyone is great and I can't wait for the next season!

Lost in Austen: Great program, I love how it shows a completely new light to Jane Austen and Jemima Rooper is a great actress. I'm not too convinced by the ending of this, I don't think it suited the series well, but at the end of the day anything but a happy end would have come out wrong. And it had Alex Kingston which I already liked a lot in ER back when it was still good. And no one felt sorry for her boyfriend back in London?

No Heroics: BBC3's new attempt at a comedy show and three episodes in I'm still not sure if I like it or if it's funny. It's an interesting concept having a bar for heroes in London where they're not allowed to use their powers and things like the fan meeting was funny. But the characters don't really seem to work, there is no explanation why the same four people always hang out together and the chemistry between them doesn't work. However, there are some great powers!

One Tree Hill: I dislike this season's One Tree Hill. The characters are all over the place and there doesn't seem to be any friendship between any of them. There's the whole Brooke storyline which none of her friends cared about much. I can't believe they all believed she fell down the stairs and ended up with two perfect black eyes?! The Nanny Carrie and Dan storyline, please give me a break and I hope to God she's dead, although I half expect her to come back as a ghost a la Keith. Talking about death, could they make Quentin's death any more predictable? And what's the deal with Mouth leaving and no one caring? Or the amazing relationship Lucas and Peyton now have that we never get to see? Or Peyton's dad? I do hope the show turns itself around again. Soon!

Privileged: I'm actually really starting to like this show! The main character is really growing on me as she doesn't seem to be the Miss goody two shoes she originally came across as. Going to be interesting what this show develops into.

Rosemary and Thyme: So predictable, so lighthearted, but still nice to watch. Although they're a bit over the top and dare I say annoying in the last season.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl: It's like the episodes get shorter and shorter. Every episode is 22 minutes long, but seems so much shorter. This show desperately needs some additional characters. Bambi is annoying, very annoying even, but she was/is at least something new in the show.

Star Trek Voyager: I've continued watching Voyager and am now on S4E22. Before I started watching it all I was under the impression I had watched most of it in the last years and that there were only a handful of episodes I had missed. How wrong was I?! So far there were about 40 episodes that I hadn't seen before and I wasn't aware that there was some sort of story arc prior to the Borg. The entire Kazon and Seska storyline was excellent, as well as the first hints at the Borg.

The Office: Another show that started again and it was actually a quite funny episode. I think I've been liking the Office more since Steve Carell isn't the main focus of episodes as I don't like him in anything I've seen him in. Great to see Ryan's back, he's been one of my favourite characters since the start. Oh and the engagement, predictable much?

The Sarah Jane Adventures: Oh, look, they're writing out the main character and her family. Yeah, that will go down well..

The Simpsons: Loved the intro with Bobba Fett and the carbonite, but that was about it. It was a lot of 'been there, done that', sadly. This is the 20th season though, so I am wondering if there is any originality left that most importantly doesn't mess up the continuity somehow.

True Blood: Still not fully convinced if I like this or not, but it's very addictive at the same time. The accents are so very incredibly annoying though and the main character I look forward to now is Tara as everyone else doesn't appear to have more to them.

Weeds: Loved the season finale and definitely didn't see that coming which is something I've said about the last few finale's as well, I believe! Bring on the next season where everything should be very different all over again!

And then there's Strictly Come Dancing which I've really enjoyed so far! It's the first time I've watched it and it sort of makes me regret not having watched it the last years.

And I've watched a great documentary on Jacqueline du Pré who played on of my favourite classical pieces, Elgar's Cello Concerto in E Minor.

Also can't wait for CSI to start again soon!

I feel so disconnected from everything and everyone these days. The nice thing, I feel objectively

I feel so disconnected from everything and everyone these days. The nice thing, I feel objectively healthier each day. I broke another ten pound barrier, so that was great. Today was just brutal, I just got shelled each and everyway that I could. Literally every venture in my life, save for work, was negative. It was personal, and it was all about me.

I think it is funny because for a long time I have been the guy willing to jump from every rooftop, and fall on my face, and then pay for someone to go next. I cannot tell you how many dudes I paid out of my pocket to do shows or whatever. I feel absolutely used up by this sort of thing. I feel so unhappy when I think about it.

So last night I fell asleep on time, I was in bed around ten pm, and I woke up at 2 am, and checked my email. It was a mistake, I should know better. But what I read made it so that going back to sleep was an impossibility. I just could not get going further into a sort of self loathing state than I had going right there laying in the bed with the dog, unable to find anything felt like sleep. Or peace or anything.

The email felt like another in a wave of personal attacks I have felt recently. I have simply felt betrayed by people, and this was sort of the last straw. This was my last extension of myself in any sort of concrete way. I just need to stop, and I say this often, and I never stop. But I think I need to address this in some way in my life, and I am not sure how, but I know I am going to.

I have a pile of books on my floor. I think I am going to be able to focus on them for a bit. I had wanted to get the Scott Street thing done, but that went no where, so I can simply let that one go. I can do the work myself, and I can move off from it.

Just a face in the crowd.
Getting smaller and smaller and smaller.
Just behave and obey.

Finally, I have the chance to sit back and write a review of the first few episodes of Heroes.
To be

Finally, I have the chance to sit back and write a review of the first few episodes of Heroes.

To be perfectly honest, for me (being a Veronica Mars fan, especially), was the best part of the Heroes premiere.

Let me put it this way: After last season, I was expecting a solid first-season reminiscent opener. But we didn't get that at all. And it's not that it was dull. There were a few things I didn't like about it... and a few things that really made me think.

Firstly (and make a list in a bit), I didn't like that they still aren't done starting the story. In two hours, I feel that there should have been a lot more being covered. And maybe that's just me.

Here goes... what I loved about the first 2 episodes:

Weevil and Veronica's stunning reuinion! Those of you who have not seen Veronica Mars don't know that I am referring to the Francis Capra and Kristen Bell scene in the second part of the episode. Francis Capra plays an "inmate" and all around bad-dude named Jesse.

Hiro.... I've always loved Hiro. I don't like his nemesis... some blond chick who is really fast. But it cracks me up every time Hiro encounters her and says, "Ah, my nemesis." Too funny.

The Haitian is back. It was good to see him back in the second episode. And the previews for next week are looking good, and the Haitian looks like he will be coming back into play as Noah's partner.

What I didn't love:

Mohinder's storyline. Apparently, he's slowly becoming Spiderman. I guess the only saving grace for him at this point is if he starts losing his powers. It will create a whole new layer to the story.

Nikki is dead, that we all figured. Especially after the explosion last season. But she was laid up in a coffin in a house with Micah, for lord knows how long. That has a certain creep factor.

Peter and Nathan's mother being the mother of EVERYONE. Allegedly, she is Sylar's biological mother and gave him up for adoption when he was young... perhaps explaining why he was confused and lonely most of his life and had the need to understand, and killed his adopted mother.

Sylar being partner to Noah. "One of us, one of them," Noah said. But still... It has the potential to be badly. The saving grace to that is Noah is an expert manipulator, so by him telling Sylar to stay put, he knew Sylar would come to the rescue.

Battle of the mothers. Claire's adopted mom and Claire's real mom are at odds. They had a great scene between the two where the adopted mom showed her dominance... but a few scenes later, Claire was off and about with her birth mom. Sure, they have something in common, but what happened to actual family?

What confuses me, that may or may not be explained later:

Future Peter and Past Peter... If Future Peter was able to put Past Peter into the body of an inmate, why didn't Past Peter pick up those abilities? And where did Future Peter learn those abilities? And shouldn't Past Peter be able to absorb them while Future Peter is using them?

What is going on with Tracy Strauss, Nikki's look-a-like? Is she a clone? Was she created with abilities? Does that mean all the "heroes" were created?

What is the formula for?

If Past Peter was in Jesse's body, does he absorb his abilities? While Future Peter was pushing him out and while Jesse was using his ability, did Past Peter absorb it then?

Where's Elle?

Well, I suppose that will do it for the moment. I'm sure I'll think of other things later on... And there are more than a few things that I have to wrap my head around.

Sem muito tempo, vamos lá.
Primeiro de tudo:
60º Emmy = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Foi o mais previsíve

Sem muito tempo, vamos lá.

Primeiro de tudo:
60º Emmy = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Comecei a surtar aqui!

Pronto, passou.

How I Met Your Mother = como me alonguei demais no Heroes, vou ser rápida e usar a expressão do novo (ou ex-novo) Barney Stinson no episódio: achei DE... wait for it... LIGHTFUL!

Two and a Half Men = foi fraquinho. But then again, eu acho a série toda fraquinha, eu só vejo pq eu sou doente.

Old Christine e Big Bang Theory = foi fraquinho. But then again, eu acho a série toda fraquinha, eu só vejo pq eu sou doente.

A carreira dela no cinema tava indo tão bem.

Droga.)

I attended a private screening of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist last week and unbeknowns

I attended a private screening of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist last week and unbeknownst to me, the movie was receiving major comparisons to my favorite movie of all-time, Juno (*sarcasm* teehee). I feel like the shitheads who are comparing Nick and Norah to Juno are only doing so because of the sheer fact that both movies have Michael Cera in them. Genius guys, real fucking genius. That's like me comparing Good Will Hunting to Gigli because of Ben Affleck. Or Scary Movie 1 to Scary Movie 4 because of Anna Faris (TOTALLY DIFFERENT MOVIES, I TELL YA!). Luckily for me, I knew what I was going in for because not too long ago, I decided to put my difference with books aside and actually read the one that Nick and Norah was adapted from.

I enjoyed the book (titled the same as the movie) and it was quite a short read, which was even better! However, I always pictured a more 'rocker' type to play Nick. Michael Cera put a different tone of humor to the character and delivered amazingly, but I still wasn't fully buying him as Nick. Adam Brody or Joseph Gordon-Levitt would have been better picks, but hey, I don't blame Columbia Pictures for wanting to cash in on the Michael Cera fandom (Hi I'm Alanna and I'm a Michael Cera fangirl).

Either Cera was miscast, or his 'love interests' were; call me shallow, but I just couldn't buy the whole idea of both Alexis Dziena (who played ex-girlfriend Tris) and Kat Dennings (Norah) falling for him. Sure, Nick is in a band and has an amazing sense of humor, but those two attributes do not fully make for a ladies' man. Cera is just a little TOO awkward, self-conscious and boyish-looking to be Nick, or Dziena was a little TOO 'sexy' to be one of his former girlfriends. It also did not help that Tris' new boyfriend and Norah's ex were polar opposites of Cera; confident and masculine. But the one thing that neither d-bags had that Cera prevailed in, was personality, which I guess in the long run, can win even a supermodel over (see: Heidi Klum and Seal).

Norah's "bff" and complete and utter lush, Caroline (played by Ari Graynor), was given a much bigger role in the movie, which I have to say, was surprisingly well constructed. All of her scenes were vomit-inducing hilarity (naturally) and she was easily the biggest comic relief of the film (besides so many other things like the cameos made by two SNL feature players and Nick's amusing gbff's).

So, aside from the minor casting error (it's so minor I'm actually completely over it by now), I did manage to look past it enough to actually really like this movie. So much so, that I am pegging it the new Garden State. Hipsters will EAT this fucking movie up with a Pinkberry spoon. This will put Dennings on the map (move over Ellen Page, THANK GOD) and insert Michael Cera into even more indie-induced movies about awkwardly funny guys, cute girls and lots of rad music.

For a full synopsis of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, please head on over to its wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_and_Norah's_Infinite_Playlist

And lookie what I came across: a 2006 episode of Veronica Mars with MICHAEL CERA! And better yet, he is playing a COLLEGE STUDENT! Let's just hope he savored every moment of that experience, because it might be awhile before he graduates from High School roles.

The Fortress Keeper fired up the ol' TiVo yesterday evening to watch the Heroes premiere and ... um ... well, let's just say we were underwhelmed.

Kristen Bell's Elle remains an interesting anti-hero, although its apparent she won't play a very big role this season. We were also intrigued by Ali Larter's transformation from the Incredible Hulk (aggressive alter-ego with super-strength) into Crazy Jane (schizophrenic with multiple super-powers) and ... that's about all.

Claire whined too much about her lack of humanity, Peter and Hiro are even bigger idiots than before and the big reveal about Sylar was anticlimactic at best.

The best moments of the first two episodes had almost nothing to do with the plot. It was nice to see William "The Greatest American Hero" Katt again, even if his character was iced rather quickly. But the big moments, in your humble host's addled opinion, were the two brief scenes featuring Bell and former Veronica Mars co-star Francis Capra.

The sight of Capra yelling "It's me" to Bell was priceless, and definitely prompted this tired TV fan to wish both actors were in a better vehicle for their talents.

Something like ... you know ... Veronica Mars.

I considered writing a running blog of last night’s premiere episodes of Heroes, since there

I considered writing a running blog of last night's premiere episodes of Heroes, since there's always so much crap going down every two seconds, so many elements that make no sense, and so many questions that arise, that I figured the only way to nail em all would be to catch them as they came. I didn't end up doing it because I suck, and in hindsight, I definitely should've. So, next week, tune in for my running blog of episode 3. I'll be updating it in real time as I watch the episode, but as I live on the west coast and will likely be watching on DVR, it won't be synched up exactly with the actual broadcast. Still, it should be a good time, so be sure to check back here next Monday night!

So anyways, I'm going to do my best to tackle the craziness that is Heroes and analyze the beginning of Season 3 as best I can:

-If you're going to do a 2 hour premiere, just make it a two hour premiere. Why show two episodes back to back? Wouldn't they have been better served in making an epic and cohesive two-hour debut instead of two meandering, hard to follow, unconnected episodes?

- This show needs to learn how to let characters die. It's beyond ridiculous now. Here is a list of characters who have been dead and come back to life: Claire, Peter, Sylar, Nathan, Linderman (sort of), Parkman, & Noah Bennett. Did I miss anyone? When 6 of your main characters can die and come back to life, how can there ever be any suspense? The only main characters to have died and stayed dead are Papa Nakamura, Charlie, Isaac, Simone, Bob (who was just killed), Alejandro and D.L. And we all really miss those super important characters, don't we? (note: I really do miss Isaac. No one has been as cool as that dude was, and the paintings were by far the coolest aspect of the series. It's way more exciting to hint at a possible future than to constantly show a definite one to us.)

- Speaking of missing D.L., where the hell is Micah? Where's his cousin with the ridiculous ability to copycat anything she sees? So much for ethnic diversity on this show...

-Remember that Irish chick Peter fell in love with last season and left in the future? Sucks for her.

- We finally learned Angela Petrelli's power! The dreams! A nice addition. Her dream of the good guys (Noah, Claire, Peter, Hiro, Parkman) being slaughtered by the bad guys (Kensei, Papa Parkman, Knox, Sylar and Tracey/Nikki/Jessica) was mad creepy and I can only pray that all these characters get into the mix soon.

- Hiro & Ando have the most tenuous friendship I've ever seen. Ando has put Hiro in danger a dozen times; Hiro is Ando's boss at a large firm and, oh yeah, also has amazing super powers to Ando's nothing; and now Future Ando (or is it?) shoots a red death ray beam out of his hands to kill Future Hiro, who has become a villain, according to Future Ando. Once again, the two untrustworthy friends are on an adventure, this time seeking a secret formula (for how to give powers to people? for a serum to take away powers?) stolen from them by Daphne, a self-proclaimed "speedster." Did you notice her FBI mug shot? A. How do you take a mug shot of someone who can't be caught and B. does she just wear the same outfit every single day like Doug Funnie or something?

- So Future Peter has the ability to shapeshift (I was wondering when we'd see him use that one. Way to have a power and not use it for all of Season 2), to teleport others without teleporting himself (AWESOME), and to trap Present Peter in the skin of some bro named Jesse? Dude is baaaadass. Also, why does he only have that face scar in the future? Am I wrong, or wasn't that the scar he got when he exploded at the end of season 1/beginning of season 2?

-Speaking of Jesse, we've got a Veronica Mars Alert! VMars herself, Kristin Bell, and Neptune's favorite token hispanic biker criminal, Eli "Weevil" Navarro (Francis Capra) have been reunited! Now if only we could get VMars creator Rob Thomas to join them over here and make some sense of this cockamamie program...

-Maya is HOT. Like blazingly, smoking hot. No wonder Mohinder went all True Blood crazy vampire sex on her.

-Mohinder has a power! Well, more like every generic superpower wrapped up in one: heightened senses, super strength, faster reflexes...oh, and of course, super libido and wall climbing/rafter hanging/skin peeling. Plus, he has a cool thumb ring! Don't you know taking a shot of Promicin is like playing God, Mohinder? Oh wait, this isn't The 4400? My b...

- Linderman, who is only visible to Nathan, brings Nathan back to life and is now his spirit guide. Peter, who supposedly loves his brother, would rather kill him without explanation and then seek forgiveness later than momentarily incapacitate his brother by sending him to say, the African savannah or someone else's body. Yeah, that makes sense. All of it.

- I don't know if you knew this, but apparently, getting knocked to the ground by someone with telekinetic abilities causes mild coughing and an inability to perform any function other than slow crawling. Also, either Elle needs to stop being an incompetent biatch, or Kristen Bell needs to leave this show. K Bell is an intelligent ass kicker! Let the girl strut her stuff!

-Why Claire's mom is the worst character on Heroes aside from Claire's brother, Lyle, who was only seen in silhouette: she doesn't need to know the details about Sylar scalping her daughter, sticking his finger in her brains to absorb her ability, and somehow removing her ability to feel pain. As long as Sylar didn't sexually abuse her, it's all good with Mom.

-So oh yeah, we finally saw what Sylar does with people's brains! He...pokes them? Wow, that makes a ton of sense.

-I'm just as confused as all of you are about Niki/Tracy. Usually, when something makes this little sense, its due to information being withheld for narrative purposes. So I'd guess this, along with some other pressing questions (what's the deal with Linderman? Who is this African Isaac who paints the future? Why does Hiro consistently take Ando on mission even though he makes them more difficult and more dangerous every single time?), will be answered soon.

- Sylar is a Petrelli brother! A nice twist. As long as Sylar, Peter and Claire are the center of this show, we'll be ok. The more interaction between these three, the better. Originally, I had written Hiro into that list, but that dude really hasn't been a factor in the main narrative since mid-season 1.

-The moment from this episode that will have the greatest impact down the line: Future Peter's abandonment of Claire. Poor Claire. The girl is the third most powerful character on the show (I'm putting her after Peter and Sylar, tied with Hiro, in that order), her personal mutant ability was physically removed from her brain, she doesn't even think she's human, she has no companions, and then uncle Peter leaves her alone when she needs him most?! If that isn't cause for Future Brown Haired Claire to become a bad guy, I don't know what is.

-There was a lot in the episode that I couldn't follow and didn't make sense. But the moment that made the absolute least sense of all was this: Parkman is lying face down in the African desert. The African Issac Rip-Off tells him to take some water from some dying plant. Parkman tears said plant from the ground and squeezes maybe half a drop of water from it whilst thanking his lucky stars for having his life saved by this half drop of water. Then, African Isaac offers Parkman an enormous jug filled with water, that for some reason had previously been withheld from the dying, thirsty stranger. WHAT?! HUH?? Who wrote this? Seriously, I want names. Was it you, Tim Kring? Did you write this exchange? Because if so, I want you to pay me for the time I spent becoming dumber while watching this.

-The funniest moment of the show: Noah Bennett - "You're in good hands." Claire's birth mom steps forward...and shoots fire from her hands! I laughed out loud. That's unintentional comedy gold, people. Gold!

I'm sure you've seen the ubiquitous Heroes ads everywhere: this season is all about good vs. evil, lines being drawn, and alliances being forged. Who will end up on which side? I really like where this is going, and as Those Scenes hinted, people are going to start picking sides pretty damn soon. We've got a whole slew of new baddies to chase (one of them is called The German? I hate Nazis too, but I wouldn't necessarily call someone The German simply because he was a bad guy), a secret formula to rescue, a future of destruction and evil Andos and Claires to prevent, and a whole lot more.

I think these first two episodes were a bit all over the place and hard to follow, but I like where things are heading. Right now, I feel like all the pieces of jigsaw puzzle have been thrown onto the table, and hopefully, next week we'll start seeing how they fit together. If you couldn't guess from this post or any of my posts on last season, my patience for this show is perilously thin. I need to see some concrete narrative flow, with understandable elements to which I can anchor, and a clear narrative arc if I'm going to be able to stick with the show for another season.

Episodes: B

Prognosis for Rest of Season: B+

7:00 – Big TV night for me. Um, PS: NBC has put the season 2 premiere of one of my favorite shows from last year, Life, online early. This is a really smart, quality show…this premiere isn’t the best episode they’ve had, but it’s still pretty good. Check it out HERE. And watch last season for free HERE.

8:00 – Yes, I’m choosing to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles over the “premiere event,” which looks like it mostly involves red carpet interviews. Sorry, it’s a Dean Winters-heavy episode, what can I say. This is more reactions than live-blogging, but if you just want to get to Heroes, skip down to 9:00.

8:01 – I can’t tell you how much I hate the new Terminator opening. Alright, here we go…Charley! And his wife, Penny on Lost! Who is totally about to be kidnapped by Cromartie. Dang it! Man, it sucks to be Charley. First his fiancé turns out to be the mother of the only hope for mankind, & then he saves said hope for mankind’s uncle, & then said fiancé’s totally like, take your wife & leave, & then his wife gets kidnapped by the crazy metal robot trying to kill said hope for mankind!

8:08 – “Sarah, he took my wife.” Dean Winters is such a good actor. Also? Derek is still kind of a jerk. Hey Derek! Remember when Charley saved your life? Yeah. Can you please not say his wife is dead? That’s just unnecessary.

8:18 – The actress playing Michelle has my undying love for the Desmond & Penny storyline of awesomeness on Lost this last year. I still kind of want to yell “It’s Penny! OMG It’s Penny!” every time she comes on the screen. I’m so sad Charley & Michelle aren’t going to be on the show for a while after this. Also? Could Cromartie’s mousetraps be a more obvious metaphor? Oh, touché! It’s a bomb!

8:26 – Can I say? This is not the time, Riley. I mean, she’s kind of snarky, but this is just not the time. Totally takes me out of the whole tense kidnapping/bomb thing.

8:28 – Sarah’s complete lack of faith in Charley’s abilities as a shooter are annoying. Doesn’t she know that’s Ryan O’Reily? Come on. If he was on his game, he would have manipulated Derek into killing her by now.

8:33 – Do you get the feeling that Michelle will be asking for a divorce like as soon as this is over? Also, why does everyone feel the need to be so frank? You don’t have to TELL Michelle you thought she’d be dead. That is not helping, Sarah. ALSO? John, as the only hope for mankind, you should really be more suspicious that when your former almost-step-father calls & your mom runs out suddenly without explanation & then calls you & is like “DON’T GO HOME,” something has happened & you should stop being distracted by the inconsequential cute girl & PAY ATTENTION SO YOU DON’T GET KILLED.

8:42 – Michelle is like, you know what? I’m good. Y’all can just continue to bicker. I’m going to get going before I bleed to death. Okay? Lots of love!

8:49 – OMG, they’re going to kill Penny! That sucks! And Sarah, you know what’s not helping? You yelling at Charley about how he should have stayed away. Don’t you think, at this point, he knows? Don’t you think, at this point, he wishes he never met you? That you weren’t selfish enough to AGREE TO MARRY HIM? That you accepted his help? Do you really think THIS is the time to start blaming him? Really? Shut up, Sarah.

8:53 – Cameron’s hair looks really good when she’s trying to hunt down John/Cromartie. Seriously? Is that the end of Cromartie? If so, that was way too easy. Oh wait, nope, there he is. So he literally walked out of the ocean. That’s kind of cool.

8:57 – Oh, Charley. Dean Winters. Good actor. Etc, etc. Cut to funeral. That SUCKS. Charley throw the bible Ellison gave him onto poor, dead Penny/Michelle & walks away, looking pissed, which is awesome & hopefully means we won’t be seeing the end of him.

8:59 – Switching over to NBC. Here we go…previously on Heroes: man, how are we supposed to remember any of this? It was like a gazillion years ago! Or like 9 months. Same thing, practically. Anyway, previously, Nathan was shot. Also Future Peter has a scar on his face. Remember that. It will be important in about 30 seconds.

9:00 – Future Peter! With a scar! And Future Claire! With eyeliner! Which means she’s probably evil! Also, she’s holding a gun to Peter’s head, another hint. Um, he can totally teleport away from the bullet. “I always loved you.” Boom. Touche. Told you.

9:02 – And we’re back. Looks like Peter’s at the police station from the end of Volume 2. He puts on a hat & coat, goes toward the press conference where Present Peter & Matt are with Nathan, who is about to announce to everyone what they can do. Future Peter shoots Present Nathan. Present Peter & Present Matt chase Future Peter. Matt catches up with Present Peter…or, is he?? Present Peter says he lost him. Matt looks at him strangely, like maybe he’s reading his mind?

9:04 – Claire sees the scene on TV & calls Peter, wanting to do the whole blood thing. Peter’s like, um, you’re in California. No, stay exactly where you are. Peter & Nathan arrive at the hospital, where Peter looks distraught in the hallway. The doctor comes out to say Nathan’s dead, yo. Which I totally don’t believe for one second. Also, didn’t Peter absorb Claire’s ability? So his blood can also heal him. Peter stands over poor, dead Nathan, says something I don’t catch, & Nathan pops up, looking pale & still kind of dead, but, you know, not. Annnnd scene. Wait. Did Peter give him blood when I didn't see? I don't think he did...

9:09 – Hiro makes a clock hand move around & around, sitting in an office in his father’s company. As a side note, I'm almost positive that I saw Masi Oka on the street in front of my office in Hollywood today. Ando comes in, calling him sir. Obviously, Hiro has inherited poor, dead George Takei’s company. Hiro reminds Ando, who is very interested in money (which makes him clearly awesome), that he has these powers & he's bored here. So am I, Hiro. Another man comes into the office & Hiro jumps up. Ando looks at him strangely as he accepts a package. It’s a message from Hiro’s father. Dun dun dun…

9:11 – Claire packs a bag & opens her door to go find Nathan & there stands Sylar! Yay! Sylar talks a bunch & is clearly not dead, much to Claire’s surprise. Sylar’s like, I want your power! Claire is like, no thanks! And swings a trophy at Sylar. He goes down, but TK’s stuff in the house to stop her from leaving. She draws a knife, which is the very last thing you want anywhere near a crazy psycho killer who have telekenesis & wants to look at your brain. Scary, horror movie cinematography. Sylar creepily chases Claire in the dark. Chasing, chasing, not much to live-blog...

9:14 – Suddenly it’s Maya. Ugh! WHY?! Why are you still here??? She swings a bat at an entering Mohinder, who she thought was Sylar. She’s all like, um, where’s my cure? He’s like, um, I can’t help you. I’m going back to India. She’s like, oh yeah? How about some black ink tears?? He’s like, wait! We can talk! Then Mohinder, of course, gets all excited about the science behind Maya’s stupid ability. He has a ridiculous break-through. He says all he has to do is make her mad again. She’s like, um, that will kill you. That wouldn’t be so bad, Maya. Could it also kill you? That would be awesome.

9:17 – Hiro & Ando watch George Takei’s video. He says he’s leaving Hiro something sacred to keep safe. He must never open the safe. Hiro is disappointed & runs around trying to open the safe. I am kind of over Hiro. Ando awesomely tells Hiro he’s totally a disgrace to George Takei’s honor. Hiro ignores him & finds a remote that does. He opens it & inside is another package. It’s a tape with George Takei going, um, WHAT DID I JUST TELL YOU! DON’T OPEN THE STUPID SAFE!! Hehe…I love George Takei. Also, people will stop at nothing to get the “formula” & Hiro must guard it with his life. Hiro finds a sheet of paper with chemistry symbols on it. Suddenly something happens & time is frozen. Ando stands there while Hiro follows a blur, which leads to a blonde girl, who suddenly unfreezes. She says she’s a speedster. She’s stolen the formula. She punches Hiro out & speeds away. I kind of like her.

9:22 – Matt finds Peter in a closet, where he's just found the gun that shot Nathan. Matt is all like, um, where’d you know where the gun is? He reads Peter’s mind. Peter reads his mind. Mind war! Future Peter clearly has a better grasp of this than Matt, cause Matt gets that feedback pain again, while Peter just disillusions back into Future Peter, asking Matt why he had to go be a detective. (PS: I'm still trying to remember...have we seen Peter meet Candice in order to absorb her power? No, right? And she dies before the future, so he didn't meet her there...so does Peter absorb all of Sylar's powers? And even if he does, Sylar couldn't absorb Candice's power, right?) Peter teleports Matt…elsewhere. Walking out of the closet, Future Peter illusions back into Present Peter. Um. Where the hell is the real Present Peter?

9:27 – Back in Nathan’s hospital rom. Nathan = still alive. He sits up to see his suit hanging there. Meanwhile Present Peter, who is really Future Peter, comes in to see Nathan gone. Outside, a reporter is doing a live report about Nathan’s miraculous recovery when low & behold! There is he. In a suit! The reporter follows him into a church, where he tells some woman that he saw God today. He says he’s here to do great things. Future Peter follows them in & draws a gun as the reporter asks him for that message he was going to give before he went & got shot. Instead, Nathan just talks a lot about how we’re all connected. I guess that’s way not to get shot. I hope this doesn’t mean Nathan’s going to become all boring again. He tells the reporter & the women that we need to save ourselves to save the world. He stumbles & Peter catches him.

9:31 – Back with Mohinder & Maya, who are totally going to hook up, it’s so obvious. I liked her better when she was Sylar’s shiny new toy. Mohinder thinks he’s isolated the source of her power. He tells Maya that what’s in the syringe he’s holding can give power to anyone. Maya’s like, um, WHAT??? What about my cure?? Also, WHAT??? Mohinder’s like, just add adrenaline & presto! Hey Mohinder! The 4400 called. They want their plot contrivance back. Also? That storyline totally resulted in the cancellation of The 4400, you know that right?

9:32 – Back with Claire & Sylar. Claire is hiding in a closet, with the door chained. Sylar finds a box of Claire’s stuff. Um, question. Where the hell are Sandra & Lyle? Sylar monologues as he flips through HRG’s files that he’s going to find the people in them & take the best abilities first. Claire is suddenly there & stabs him with that knife. She runs but Sylar TK’s her to the door & begins his finger-head slicing thing. It’s pretty horrible & Claire’s a really good screamer, but we all know she can heal, so this is a little anticlimactic.

9:37 – Sylar is examining Claire’s open brain while simultaneously bleeding to death. They manage to both have a conversation about how much of the brain we actually use & a bunch of other things, when you would think this probably isn't the time for chit chat. Claire asks if he’s going to eat her brain. He thinks that’s disgusting. Hehe… He finds what he’s looking for. This scene is all very Hannibal Lector in the sequel with Julianne Moore when she's at the table with that guy who's still alive while Hannibal eats his brains. Sylar removes the knife & heals quickly. He takes HRG’s file & places the top of Claire’s head back on her head. He starts to leave but she heals & sits up. She asks why he isn’t going to kill her? He tells her she’s not like the others & he can’t kill her. She can never die. And now neither can he! But he can be put into a coffin & buried alive!

9:40 – Maya & Mohinder & the argument of lameness. Maya’s all, you have to destroy it! Mohinder’s like, why?? It’s awesome! And then it turns out that, yes, Mohinder wants to inject himself so he can get a power & get revenge on Sylar for killing his father. Ugh. Just do the black ink tears thing, Maya. But she doesn’t. Instead, she just tells him to destroy it & storms out.

9:42 – Nathan’s back in the hospital bed. Peter is there, looking like Present Peter. It appears that yes, Nathan is just going to give boring speeches from now on. He thinks the Heroes on angels. Peter wants to know if he’s still going to tell everyone about them so he’ll know if he has to kill him again. Nathan’s like no. Peter kisses Nathan on the head & asks for forgiveness for what he did to him. He leaves…& Linderman is there! Touche, death. He tells Nathan that the two of them will do great things. I’m just so confused right now. So Linderman healed Nathan. But who healed Linderman? I’m guessing Adam?

9:44 – An older man sits watching a news report about Nathan. He says he thinks they found the one. The man is a governor & who’s there with him? Freaking Niki. F! Why! Won’t! She! Die! Freaking Niki definitely isn’t Niki anymore. She doesn’t remember Nathan. But she likes him. Oh dear God, why?? WHY?? Why is she still here??

9:49 – Desert. It’s Matt time! He’s got a scorpion on his face. EW! He gets up, knocks the scorpion off & realizes what the hell is going on. He screams & mind-reads around, but there’s no one there. Touche, stuck in a desert.

9:50 – Hiro & Ando. Hiro wants to go to the future to see what happens. He teleports out & in the future, he sees a lot of people running around. And he sees himself & Ando. Ando wants the formula. Future Hiro says no. So ANDO FREAKING ZAPS HIM WITH RED ELECTRICITY! YAY! ANDO HAS A POWER! Present Hiro looks around & the city suddenly goes black. And then he goes back to the present & tells Present Ando that they seriously need to get that formula back.

9:52 – Freaking Mohinder is at a river bank & looks like he’s going to throw the syringe away, but instead he injects himself & collapses. I hate this storyline.

9:53 – It’s Angela Petrelli! She’s in Nathan’s hospital room. She can tell that Peter isn’t present Peter. She’s like, um, where’s Present Peter? I want to know that too! She says that he inherited his first ability, the dreams, from her. Touche! KNEW she had an ability! She knew he was coming. He’s messed stuff up by shooting Nathan. She tells him to go back to where he came from & demands to know where he put Present Peter. Cut to what we know is Level 5, where a person who is not Peter Petrelli screams that he is. We pan through some people who are demonstrating abilities, including what looks like Elle’s blue electricity, & then we pan to HRG Noah! Yay! He’s bouncing that same ball he had last year. He hears Non-Peter’s screaming & is clearly thinking, hey! I know that one.

9:55 – Sandra & Lyle FINALLY get home & see Claire there, all bloody & crying. Matt finds a painting with the Godsend symbol on a rock in the desert. Sylar walks through the suburbs hilariously. Freaking Niki looks at Nathan’s picture on the TV. Some thugs find Mohinder & demand his money. They try to shoot him, but he crushes the gun & super-strength throws one of them into the river. He looks at his hands, freaked out. Behind him is the same painting of the Godsend symbol. Touche, super Mohinder.

9:57 – Heroes continues NOW. Claire tells Sandra that Sylar isn’t coming back because he got what he came for. She tells her that “it wasn’t that,” & then she puts her hand in some glass. But then it doesn’t look like her hand is healing…and she says she feels no pain. Oh wait, yes it did heal. Hmm. Interesting. Claire says she always liked the pain because it made her feel like she was still human. Touche.

9:59 – Angela Petrelli walks into...somewhere, where Hiro is dead with Kensei’s sword sticking out of him. Matt is also dead. And someone kills Claire & there’s a lot of blod. And then there’s the vilians, including Sylar, Freaking Niki, Adam Monroe…and of course, it’s a dream. She finds Peter & he’s building a Five-Years-Gone string theory timeline. He tells her he knows stuff she doesn’t. She says that he can’t mess with this stuff. It’s the butterfly effect. She tells him that because he talked to Claire, she listened to him & stayed home & bad stuff happened, aka now Sylar can’t die, you dope.

10:02 – Maya shows up & Mohinder is performing acrobatics. He’s all shirtless & sweaty & gleeful about the non-side-effects of his newfound abilities. He can also climb the wars like Spider-Man. He says he’s the same, but different. He can give powers to anyone & soon, he’ll be able to take them away, like hers. PS: This is how Ando can one day get a power. He comes over & touches her face & kisses her. They make out & he takes out her shirt. She agrees, yep, he’s different.

10:08 – Matt in the desert. He should probably take off that collared shirt, isn’t he hot? He’s getting delirious in the sun & collapses. Poor Matt. Annnd scene.

10:09 – Music. We see a car with a camera in it come up to Sylar, still in the ‘burbs. Two men try to take him in & Sylar promptly kills them. Out of the camera pic, we see Elle! She’s with Bob, of course. Bob continues to blame Elle for the whole Sylar-getting-away thing. She promises that she’ll find him. Bob calmly says she’ll just let them both down. Elle angrily turns away. You know that Elle is eventually going to kill Bob, right?

10:10 – Ando & Hiro. Very little ever happens with them. They discover Speedster’s name is Daphne. Ando doesn’t understand why Hiro is about to go find Daphne without him. Hiro hesitates, then touches Ando on the shoulder & they blink away.

10:11 – Freaking Niki & the Governor. They argue about if Nathan is the right choice. Sounds like they want him as a candidate for something. Freaking Niki is definitely sleeping him, in case you were wondering. Also, she wants him to appoint Nathan the junior senator of the state. On the way out, in the parking garage, a reporter comes up to her, showing her the pic of Freaking Niki’s stripping gig from way back in the first part of season 1. She doesn’t remember it & tells him if he runs it, she’ll hunt him down.

10:13 – Ando & Hiro have teleported to some place with the Mona Lisa. And cut to Claire, who is making another tape, minus Zach, who being the only hope for human kind & comforting poor Dean Winters. She is still wondering if she’s human now that she can’t feel. She tells the camera this is attempt #7 & stands in front of a train. Just before it hits her, Future Peter (still as Present Peter) saves her. He asks what happened to her. She says something awful. I’ll say.

10:18 – Claire tells Peter what happened. Peter says this wasn’t supposed to happen. He says it’s his fault. She says it’s not, it’s his fault she can’t defend herself. She asks him to teach her. He says not him, not now, what with the whole changing-the-future thing. He teleports away.

10:20 – Nathan is in Odessa, praying. Freaking Niki is there. He clearly remembers her. She offers him the junior senator thing. He calls her Niki & she is confused. He reminds her of the whole thing with them sleeping together in Vegas thing. She says her name is Tracy. She gives him and leave, passing Linderman on the way. Linderman says that maybe it’s supposed to be like this. Someone who looks like Niki, offering him the chance of a lifetime. This is God’s plan, he says. Nathan thinks otherwise. He kicks Linderman out.

10:22 – Elle comes into his father’s office. She’s trying to convince that Sylar’s going to go after the Level 5 Heroes, but Bob’s chair is facing away from her & he doesn’t answer, which we all know means Bob is dead, yo. Elle stops short when she sees this. The top of his head is cut off. Elle walks rapidly into Level 5 & goes to Noah’s cell. She throws him a gun & tells him Sylar is in the building. She turns to leave the cell but is knocked back via TK. Noah comes out & shots Sylar like 10 times. He looks dead for like a second, then the bullets all fall out of him & he heals. He tells Noah he got that from Claire, then proceeds to TK Noah up into the ceiling & drops him, leaving him unconscious, but not dead. The prisoners in Level 5 are all banging on the glass. The one who keeps saying he’s Peter is played by Francis Capra, who was Weevil on Veronica Mars, making this a Veronica Mars reunion! Yay! He yells out Sylar to leave Veronica/Elle alone, but Sylar comes over to stand over Elle, who is still sprawled out on the floor. He taunts her by turning Noah’s gun into gold, then starts to slice open her head, but a burst of her blue electricity knocks him back. And commercials.

10:28 – Back at Level 5, Francis/Peter comes to stand over Elle, who is alive. He tells her he’s Peter. She looks confused & out of it. Noah drags the prone form of Sylar away. Did I mention it’s dark & there are alarms everywhere? I’m so happy Elle & Noah are alive!

10:29 – Hiro & Ando. Hiro continues to act shifty around Ando, since Ando kills him with a power in the future & all. Ando is like, um, what? I’m your best friend! Hiro’s like, whatev. He says they need to set a trap. I’m bored by this storyline.

10:30 – Future Peter comes in to see Nathan, who tells him about the offer. Peter says he needs to show Nathan something & illusions back into Future Peter. Nathan steps back. Peter tells him he had to shoot him because he had to save them from a world where the Heroes are hunted. But it’s gone all wrong. Nathan asks him if he should take the offer, since he’s from the future & all. But Peter needs to go set things right, so he teleports the hell out of there. Nathan calls Tracy & accepts the offer. He tells her he has to have her on his staff. As she gets out of her car, the reporter comes up to her again & shows her the security video of her & Nathan. She yells at her that he can’t do the story & grabs his arm. And then? He completely freezes & then breaks apart & melts! It’s an extremely cool special effect. Freaking Niki/Tracy is freaked out, clearly not realizing she had a power. She runs away as the pieces of the reporter melt away. Whoa.

10:39 – Sylar lies unconscious in Level 5 as Elle looks on. Angela Petrelli comes in & tells her she’s assuming command now that Bob is dead. Angela tells her that her short-out blew out the facility & the rest of the prisoners are gone, as is Noah. Angela unceremoniously fires Elle, telling her they only kept her around because her father insisted. Elle’s like, this was my whole life! Angela’s like, touché. Better get going on a new one! Man. Sucks to be Elle.

10:40 – Hiro & Ando…still setting the stupid trap. Ando continues to try to convince Hiro that he’s not going to kill him. Daphne shows up. Hiro & her play a game of are-you-faster-than-me. Blah, blah, blah, eventually Daphne holds a knife to Ando’s neck & Hiro has to let her go with the formula. It’s really hard to live-blog their scenes since they’re speaking in subtitles most of the time & I’m trying to type at the same time. Luckily, they also happen to be the scenes I care the least about!

10:43 – Mohinder & Maya in bed. Something’s wrong with Mohinder. Well, DUH, Mohinder. He goes to a mirror & realizes that pieces of his place are like acid-ing off. He picks a piece of his flesh out of his back. It’s pretty gross. That’s what you get, Mohinder.

10:46 – Don’t forget! Special premiere of Life after Heroes next week!

10:47 – Back to Matt in the desert. He’s still all collapsed. A turtle comes up to him & says hello. Literally. It tells him to drink the nearby plant for water. He does & it’s hilarious. “Thank you, turtle!” A dude comes up to him & is like, um, why are you talking to a turtle? He gives him actual water. Turns out Matt’s in Africa. Matt needs the dude’s phone. Dude doesn’t have cell service here. “Should have gone with Sprint.” HA! Love you, Dude. A name would be great, btw. Dude then calls Matt by his name & is all like, you’re not supposed to be here. It isn’t the future I saw. Matt just wants to get back to the States, but Dude is like, no, stay, please. He tells Matt to follow him.

10:50 – Claire’s house. Noah’s downstairs, working on a computer. Claire comes to hug him & he asks if she’s alright. No, but she’s better now that he’s here. But he’s not staying.

10:51 – Linderman & Nathan play chess. Nathan says this time, he won’t let Linderman manipulate him this time. A nurse comes in & is like bedtime. Nathan’s like, um, in the middle of a game here! She’s like, with yourself?? TOUCHE! Linderman’s totally not really there. Or, as he says, only Nathan can see him. So does that mean he's a figment of Nathan's imagination? Or that he's actually there, but only Nathan can see him?

10:52 – Back with Noah & Claire, he introduces her on the computer to the Level 5 dudes, including Francis/Peter, who’s actually called Jesse, & apparently has a power he doesn’t even want to talk about. Noah tells her they are villains & he’s one of the few who can stop them. Claire says she can help. And then Sandra comes in & says they can’t protect her here, but her real mom can. And there’s Meredith, who does the whole firestarter thing again, just in case we forgot what she can do.

10:54 – Future Peter comes in to Level 5, looking for Present Peter. Angela tells him that they’ve all escaped. Future Peter’s like, um. I kinda put Present Peter into Jesse’s body. Angela’s like, you did WHAT?! You go find him this instant!

10:56 – Meanwhile Present Peter is in a phone booth, calling Nathan. He tells Nathan to look out for him. Only with a scar. But then we see his reflection & yep, he still looks like Francis/Jesse. Another escaped Level 5-er disconnects his call & says their ride is here. Present Peter follows him to some other Level 5-ers who are burning & torturing some people. Peter reluctantly follows them into the car. Touche, why does Peter always end up in random places at the beginning of the season?

10:57 – Angela comes into Sylar’s cell & calls him Gabriel. She tells him she’ll give him what all sons want from their mothers. Sylar looks at her & tells her his name is Sylar & she’s not his mother. Angela leans in & tells him, actually…she is. WHAT??

10:59 – Coming on Heroes, Injections for everyone! Noah & Sylar, partners! Future Claire is all doling out pain! Peter is just like Sylar! Get excited!

11:00 - What did we think? I thought it was pretty solid. Engaging, actually had enough stuff packed into two hours to justify the longer premiere (unlike, say, Bones). Did a nice job of reintroducing pretty much all of the necessary characters & catch us up to their storylines, especially considering it's been nine months since we've had an episode. I'll say this, it's not worth it to think too much about it. It's an entertaining show. I'm going to watch it for the entertainment value. Also, just so everyone knows, I will be blogging it this season, but it will probably be more of a reactions/live-bloglet type thing. Too much happens too fast to really do it regularly. And I have no DVR this year! That's right. I don't know what I was thinking either.

Comme lors de cette session acoustique pour le magazine Spin, avec Sara qui raconte : "Mom once told us that she made out with a girl when she thought than we were gay, I never wanted to know that". Intraduisible, mais drôle.

Depuis, Maman Quin a eu confirmation. Ses jumelles préfèrent les filles.
Alors c'est vrai que des jumeaux chanteurs, il y en a eu quelques uns comme dans Good Charlotte, the Breeders, the Bee Gees ou plus récemment Tokio Hotel.

Mais des jumeaux chanteurs, gays ?

A moins que... The Proclaimers ?

Things are going well, and the internet is peforming better than I anticipated, so expect loads of updates (and photographs). Hooray!

This morning I went to church with the children. Speechless. I have not seen another white person in this area of town. There are some Korean and Israeli volunteers I've met, but they work with UPA...which is a 40-minute walk away. Regardless, I was nervous about church this morning. I expected to be the only muzungu and get a lot of stares (which I was and which I did). However, the moment I walked in one of the greeters came up to me. She shook my hand, looked at me and said, "You are welcome here." Thank you Jesus! It was a very charismatic service held in a shed of a barn. Something about being away from the Westernization of church (aka the coffee shops, bookstores, fancy gym facilities) was really nice. Not that I mind all the amentities of the churches I've attended, but the people at this church (including the ridiculously large children's section which stayed in the main service) were there simply to worship God and fellowship with one another. I don't know how the churches here work exactly, we got there after the service started and before the service was over...and we spent well over two hours there. I guess people just come and go as they please? I gave the children each 100 shillings to put in the offering (less than 10 cents a kid) and they loved it. I gave some of the other children in our section some shillings as well, and in turn they loved me. One girl (not from Another Hope) started to cry when the bench spots beside me filled up and she couldn't sit with me. A lady in the row behind me explained the situation to me, so the little girl came over to me and I picked her up and sat her on my lap. Another girl (again, not from Another Hope) just sat beside me and grabbed my hand.

I walked to the main street by the orphanage by myself for the first time yesterday. I just wanted to get a bottle of water and 10,000 shillings of credit for the international cell phone Ruth is letting me use. I called my mom, and (unknowingly to her) almost burst out in tears at hearing her sweet American voice. All English, all the time. I don't mean that to be ignorant to any of the cultures I've met, because it really is interesting and a great learning experience. But I long just to understand what people are saying. I called my dad next for a few minutes and caught him up on everything to this point, seeing as he is NOT reading my blog. Good job, Pops. Oh, and those two short calls used practically all of the credit I had bought, but it was worth it.

Right now Veronica Mars is on the television station they have here. PRAISE JESUS! A show I understand. A few of the older children (specifically Helen, Halima, Natasha, Peter, Matovu) here are really patient with me, as they translate simple things for me time and time again.

They've fed me matake (spelling?) for the past three meals. I don't know why, I never finish it all. I don't like it. It's got the consistency of mashed potatoes, but it's cooked green bananas. I'd be much happier eating rice and beans with the children. Hopefully tomorrow the UPA volunteers will go out to lunch and I will go with them again. I got a meal for under $2 last time. It wasn't fancy; rice, beans, a sweet potato, and a Coke. The sweet potatoes are different here. I like them, a lot.

I can hear you thinking to yourself, "Enough with the talk, get on with the pictures." Fine, be that way.

I caught Frida sleeping, which isn't hard to do with any of the little ones.

Being artsy-fartsy with my new camera. Drying laundry the old-fashioned way.

Oh the luxury of a flushing toilet! Never again will I sit on one and forget to thank Jesus. This is the pit latrine. If only you could smell the amazingness.

I love you and I miss you, but now Four Kings are on and they speak English!

Dear Rob,

You don't know me and chances are this letter will never make it to you, but after hours upon hours of watching Veronica Mars, I feel it would be an injustice to not voice my sincere gratitude to you for creating a television show, nay a hero, that I identify with and immensely respect.

Perhaps it is Veronica's snarkiness or inherent lack of girlish behavior that makes me want to cheer every time she speaks. In a world where toothpick models "grace" our magazine covers and high school gossips rule even the workplace, Veronica's no-nonsense attitude is remarkably refreshing.

I will openly admit that I am an obsessive person who is incapable of merely "liking" something. I fall hard and swiftly in love with television shows or I completely despise them. Typically I love those few fabulous shows that I only newly discover long after they have already been cancelled. I found Veronica almost by accident. My friend had suggested the show to me because Veronica reminded her of me. A compliment, for sure. Now I find myself recommending the show to everyone I know. I have yet to come across a person who didn't immediately identify with its concepts, themes and characters.

I read a post once that said "Fox is where smiles go to die." It was concerning the cancellation of the television series "Arrested Development" and it couldn't have been more true. I feel Veronica Mars has suffered this same fate. With networks proudly pushing reality television and the crime drama, it seems there is no longer space for shows of merit. As this is a sad truth, it makes Veronica Mars an even greater success story. Three seasons and a handful of life-long fans is more than most shows could ever ask for.

So I tip my hat to you, Rob Thomas, for creating my favourite television show and a cast of characters who I often think about (and debate about with friends). While I may never walk down the streets in Neptune, it will never be too far away from me. You did that, and for that I am eternally grateful. As a writer, you've given me something to aspire to.

I look forward with grand anticipation to the day when Veronica Mars meets the big screen. I hope that the rumors become a proud reality.

Thank you. Thank you so very much.

A grateful fan
