La fortuna degli stabilimenti balneari scaturì principalmente dalla costruzione di una "tramvia" a vapore Roma-Tivoli di una società belga, la "Società Anonima dei Tramways e Ferrovie Economiche Roma Milano Bologna". Il Comune di Tivoli diede la concessione per la costruzione della ferrovia.

"Per solennizzare il faustissimo giorno nel quale l'inaugurazione della FERROVIA ECONOMICA A VAPORE schiuderà per noi un era novella pel maggior sviluppo dell'industria e del commercio, l'alba del 15 corr.verrà salutata da ripetuti colpi di mortari".

Così nel manifesto del 12 giugno 1879 la Giunta Municipale, formata dal Sindaco Taddei e dagli assessori Conversi, Giannozzi, Coccanari e Sabucci, annunciò il programma per l'inaugurazione del Tramway. A Bagni il treno entrava direttamente nello stabilimento "balneario" per la discesa dei viaggiatori e delle merci. Il successo delle Terme fu assicurato. I bagnanti arrivavano da Roma con un'ora di viaggio (più o meno lo stesso tempo di percorrenza di oggi) e potevano godere di bagni comuni per 10 Baiocchi, bagni in camerino per 15 baiocchi e bagni caldi per 25 baiocchi.

I bagni alle terme procuravano un gran benessere e stimolavano l'ironia e l'allegria popolare:

Ci vidi sor Arfredo lu teputatu, ci vidi lu sindicu colla barba nera e la pelle de morosaracinu, a notà come 'nanquilla! Pezzi rossi e micchi tutti nfrasticati: chi se ghietta da pell'aria, chi se mette a panza a sole: chi sbatte li denti: chi se tira l'acqua addossu, chi se la beve, chi ci se fa li sciacqui e chi ci se ghiembe le bocce e li fiaschi pe areportalla a casa ... Fu l'ing. Faustino Anderloni che con la sua società progettò e costruì lo stabilimento delle Acque Albule. Ben presto però, data la grande affluenza di pubblico, l'impianto si dimostrò  insufficiente alle esigenze dei bagnanti. Il successo fu tale che nel '20 fu necessaria una ristrutturazione che ammodernò e ampliò gli impianti.

Con l'approvazione in giunta della "deliberazione  relativa alla procedura ad evidenza pubblica per la selezione di un advisor per l'affidamento del servizio di consulenza organizzativa, gestionale e di supporto tecnico specialistico all'amministrazione, finalizzato alla cessione della quota sociale di maggioranza della Acque Albule Spa (pari al 60 per cento del capitale) detenuta dal Comune di Tivolii" si da l'avvio alla vendita dello stabilimento termale.

The most complicated case of this I've seen recently came from one of our customers who already uses WebSphere Portal, Lotus Connections and Tivoli Directory Server. They wanted to bring portal up to version 6.1 and start using Tivoli Access Manager, preferably 6.1. Oh, and everything should be at the latest possible level and there should be a single database server. Ouch.

So how to work it out? Can we really get to a totally supported configuration or are we going to have live with a compromise somewhere along the line?

To approach this kind of problem, I generally first lay out the major components and look for their immediate dependencies, usually on a big bit of paper, Infocenter(s) to hand. Then I work through each component in turn figuring out whether I can resolve the dependencies into a single version that everything's happy with or whether I'm going to have to compromise.

While reaching a totally supported configuration is a fine aspiration, once you start having three or four headline products this can get pretty tough to attain. For some reason this is harder if the products don't all come from a single software brand.

In this case, there were lots of things to think about. Both Connections 2.0 and Portal 6.1 supported TDS 6.1 but only Tivoli Access Manager 6.1. Both wanted DB2 9.1FP4. However getting the right level of database for Portal, Connections and TDS to use the same physical platform was complicated, because even TDS 6.1 wanted an older DB2 than that...

...and so it went on, all around the infrastructure, until we finally hit on just the right combination of software. In some cases we had to compromise by not using quite the latest version of the software (eg TAM 6.0 versus 6.1). In other cases we had to try out a "nearly" supported version (Connections wants TDS 6.0.0.3, Portal just wants 6.0).

Clearly, if the configuration deviates from the officially supported levels then IBM support can (and usually will) ask you to upgrade. The other lesson is, of course, that if the version dependencies are proving complicated then maybe there's something questionable in the architecture. Is it really a good idea to share databases between LDAP, Portal and Connections, for example?

One thing we also noticed was that new products' Infocenters are quietly updated without much fanfare. It pays to keep your eyes on them, especially when you're working in the first few months after a product is released.

Nu börjar saker och ting stabilisera sig. Det enda som tryter nu är pengar, 15 spänn på resten av veckan. Men ack jag har haft mycket trevligt för dom slantarna som gått åt. Anders hade en spelning i går på Rindi och det var fucking sweet att dansa av sig. 5 timmar intensive dans slår aldrig fel! Den bästa work-outen också. Fast ska försökatt våga mig hänga på Matilda på hennes vandringsturer på kvällarna! Risken är att hon drar i från mig på två meter och jag spyr upp tarmarna i rabatten utanför lägenheten. Men ack vad trevligt det hade varit!

Piss och helvete nu flockas skiten igen!

En av de vedervärdigaste företeelserna på planeten befinner sig just nu bredvid mitt hus. Ett jävla tivoli. Massa jävla halvdassiga mongon som airbrushar Disniep-figurer a la David Lynch, ser bara ångest och morbidt ut. 101 dalmatinjävlarna har sträck i stället för prickar, och hundmamman tittar åt två olika håll. Wonder why... Dessutom är kalaset styrt av konstant packade jävla pedofiler som inte kan prata ordentligt.

Försökte bryta mig in i ett nedlagt hus i går med Lisa men det gick ju åt helvete. I dag ska jag försöka få ut en kamera från skolan, men det verkar fan vara lättare att få ut samtliga boende från Alcatraz. Om man nu orkar pallra sig dit med minst fyra timmars marginal innan dom stänger, och lyckas spåra ner alla rum där alla som kan nåt om kameror sitter (man kan inte fråga receptionen, dom sitter fan bara och gissar) så måste du hinna i fatt dom när dom börjar låtsas-prata i telefon och springer i från dig och ylar nåt om taxi eller världens undergång. Men om jag får tag i kamera, då jävlar! Börjar klia i the trigger-finger! Har ett par scener som är önskade att få på band. Det kommer bli fint. Synd bara att man måste ha minst tre klasskompisar med sig för att utföra guerilla-taktiken på lärarna så man får fatt på dom.

Vanliga snacket

Min fenomenala fotölj vart ju totalmosad under en klassfest, då jag fick ett styck Bonnie slängt i ansiktet när jag satt i den. Hela skiten blev till stoft. Så blir det väl om man får en homie kastad på en, som är döpt efter en död jävla häst. Men nu fan har jag struktur på rummet, snyggt, bra möblerat, städat nästast konstant. Men det krävs mer och mer förfester så jag kan få mer burkar till Blodpudding! Plus att datorjäveln kommer nog tvinga mig att ta lån, som jag redan gnällt om men wtf. Det har jag fan rätt till. Large Hadron Collider är förövrigt uppskjuten två månader, men det blir ändå en Dooms-Day fest, fast inte lika hardcore som den fest som kommer ta plats då det verkligen smäller.

Until November 2nd 2008 the Villa d'Este in Tivoli, east of Rome, will host the exhibition "Baroque Portraits". Most of the works that are to be seen are on loan from art galleries and private collections.

The 40 works show the art of portrait painting in the 17th and 18th centuries, when baroque painting, usually associated with a rich and powerful elite, knew its heyday.

Most of the exhibited portraits are rather unknown and many of them are even being displayed for the first time  in public, even though some of the artists (Il Guercino, Ferdinand Voet, Anton van Dyck) are famous enough.

The exhibition continues through to November 2nd, the Villa d'Este is opened from 8.30am until 18.45pm and admission costs 9 Euro (5,75 Euro for those younger than 18 or older than 65). Closed on Mondays. From the center of Rome Tivoli and the Villa d'Este can be reached by taking the subway to Ponte Mammolo (the last stop but one on line B) and then a bus to Tivoli.

It is possible to get there by train, but that involves travelling to Rome's second railway station, Tiburtina first. Moreover, Tivoli's railway station lies on the bottom of a hill, away from the centre, whereas the bus from Ponte Mammolo stops right in themiddle of town, near the Villa d'Este.

In case you don't fancy taking a day trip from Rome, or you prefer staying in quieter surroundings than what Rome has to offer anyway, you can sleep in Tivoli itself. The following link provides a list of hotels in Tivoli and Bagno di Tivoli (a warm water spring).

Tutti conoscono Roma e le sue innumerevoli bellezze, ma molti non sanno che a pochi chilometri sorge Tivoli, città ancora più antica della capitale.

Vi consiglio di visitare Villa Adriana (immensa testimonianza del fasto dell’imperatore), l’Anfiteatro Romano e Villa D’Este (ricca di fontane e giochi d’acqua), ne resterete stupiti!

Tuttavia anche la città stessa (con le sue piccole strade del centro e gli edifici antichi) è un vero gioiello: perdetevi tra le sue vie e scoprirete monumenti arcaici, testimoni di un passato grandioso.

Se poi vi viene appetito, vi consiglio di mangiare in uno dei numerosi locali storici del centro: la cucina tipica saprà risvegliare la vostra voglia di visitare la città…

Puvodne jsme chteli jit do Tivoli az vecer/ nekdy v srpnu jsme na jejich webu vycetli, ze maji mezi 19-20 hod vstup zdarma a kdyz jsme to chteli vcera overit, nasli jsme super zpravu - cely tyden az do pristi nedele je vstup do zabavniho parku plus vsechny atrakce jen za 100 DKK/cca 320 Kc. Oproti puvodnim 255 DKK je to dost vyrazna sleva, tak jsme prehodnotili situaci a rozhodli jsme se, ze do Tivoli pujdeme uz odpoledne.

Po snidani jsme se podivali na VLNA/to je ten film na kterem byli v sobotu vecer Jean-Luc a Line, potom jsme zasli na obydekdo nasi oblibene restaurace a pri ceste zpet jsme narazili na Jean-Luca, Line a jejich kamaradku Alex hrajici petanque. Tak jsme se k nim pridali, coz bylo supr. Nakonec se z cele hry vyklubal narodni zapas kteremu fandili rumunsti delnici, ve ktere zvitezilo Lucembursko/Jean-Luc, druhe misto obsadilo Dansko/Line a Alex a my jsme byli tesne na tretim miste.

Kolem druhe hodiny jsme vyrazili na cestu do Tivoli. Vstup byl opravdu se slevou, tak nam nic nebranilo abychom se pustili do poradneho radeni na atrakcich. Kousek u vchodu jsme narazili na malou horskou drahu, u vstupu bylo napsane minimalni vyska 120 cm, coz aspon pro Nelu znamenala zaruku bezpecnosti a pohodove jizdy. Opak byl pravdou, celou cestu jsme kriceli strachem, byl to fakt mazec. Cast cesty dokonce vedl tmou...Dalsi atrakci byla cesta do strasidelneho vodniho hradu. Potom se Jirka rozhodl jit na obrovskou horskou drahu - doporucuji kouknout na fotogalerii. Pro zklidneni jsme navstivili akvarium, potom dalsi horskou drahu/tentokrat pro deti minimalne 100 cm, pak jsme byli na lodickach/klasicky nam pujcili lodicku cca na 5 minut a my jsme se mohli projizdet na miniaturnim rybnicku. Dalsi atrakci byli rybicky/obnova nasich labuti a na super rychlych lodickach, ktere se tocili strasne rychle dokola a jeste nahoru a dolu. Potom jsme sli na super obrovske ruske kolo/ to by jste nerekli jak se to muze pekne houpat. Nejvic jsme se zasmali u detskeho kolotoce kdyz jsme se tak tak nacpali na obrovskou zirafu, pan u atrakce mel z nas dost. Nakonec sel Jirka jeste dvakrat na volny pad.

Den jsme si uzili maximalne, snazili jsme se pro vas neco zachytit ve fotogalerii. Vratili jsme se zpatky do detstvi a poradne jsme se vyradili...

Z parku jsme odchazeli po 6 hodinach, nestihli jsme veceri, tak jsme se najedli v burger kingu, po ceste Jirka nasel krasnou nausnici/diamant to bohuzel neni.

Po navratu domu jsme uplne znaveni padli do postele a oba jsme usnuli velice rychle...

I'm a student at the moment studying philosophy in my final year, but I also enjoy music (evidently), classic literature, politics and some good comedy.  I'll try to keep things on track with music centered posts, but I will probably deviate out of laziness and include a little of my own life.  So, welcome, and I hope this works out for everyone because it can only get better from here.  Right? ....right? I keed.

I'll also be seeing The Dandy Warhols at the Tivoli on November 5th.  And hopefully lots of other shows this year in sleepy brisbane. So, onwards to sock rockin' territory.

Mit einem 1:0 Sieg über Ingolstadt hat die Alemannia aus Aachen auch ihr zweites Heimspiel vor 18 000 Zuschauern gewonnen. Torschütze war benjamin Auer. Es sieht so aus als wenn der Abschied vom Tivoli mit einem Aufstieg gebührend begangen wird.

Oki, das zu beurteilen ist noch zu früh, aber es wäre wünschenwert wenn man das neue Stadion in der 1. Bundesliga einweihen würde oder ?

The River Antoine Estate is located in the parish of St. Patrick, near Tivoli and La Poterie villages and is today a functioning sugar cane farm and rum distillery.

The Estate, originally French owned, was sold to the British Captain Grant in 1724. In turn, it was sold to John Glean and Thomas Henry DeGale II, a person of mixed race, who had been freed from slavery by his [white] father's will of 1831.

Thomas DeGale II married Henrietta Otway and had 12 children, including two sons (one named Frank) and a daughter, Jessie, who ran the Estate. David DeGale, one of the Thomas DeGale's grandchildren, is cited in the Grenada Revolution Online article.

By 1946, the DeGale family owned 11 estates, including River Antoine, comprising 2,080 acres of land.
