I started running consistently about a year ago, as an attempt to spend more time doing things I claimed to like. It's probably the best part of my day. I'm a slow runner, and part of why I like it is it's about slow changes over time. I can run only two more miles now than I could at the beginning, and can run them faster, but the difference is slight, really considering how much time I spend at it. I like that its something you practice and cobble together over time.

It helps that I'm running in one of the best parks I know. It's a lovely way to begin a day.

I've been working on things like this for awhile:

which will eventually be a book, and which will also, hopefully, be a video, which will also, hopefully, be cobbled together over time. And show time, and show language over time. The language itself being about the rhetoric and mechanics of transformation, which usually takes place over time, though people object to that quality and would like to speed up the length of time it takes to transform, time being precious and all, and language being easy to manipulate. It's easier to tell a story about transformation than it is to transform, or at least it takes less time. Time being the thread that's connecting this to running, and to my job, which is both short of time, and long-lasting, and to this:

which will hopefully grow over time. There's something perverse about setting lead type by hand, printing it, then cutting it back into little pieces that I enjoy. A perverse use of time, which is perhaps also how I feel about blogging about slowing down time. Blogs also, of course, being something that is generally cobbled together over time, which might mean I will like it and continue doing it, or perhaps not.

Ile razy słyszałeś o fortunach tworzonych i traconych poprzez giełdy papierów wartościowych?

Żadnych maklerów - tylko my i kurs.

Po drugie:

Waluty zmieniają swoją wartość w sposób dużo bardziej statyczny niż np.: akcje przedsiębiorstw. Silne i wyraźne trendy to znak rozpoznawczy Forexu!

Yesterday I went to Cambridge.

There have been plenty of visits there, but today I thought about this trip differently. It has been a hard few weeks and for those of you who know me on Twitter, you will be aware that I am currently off work due to stress. Cambridge was a chill-out day, a de-stress day for me. I was in quite a reflective mood and because of my increased levels of recent anxiety, felt that my senses were heightened all the more for this.

Therefore, I observed my feelings more on this day out. What would have passed me by without significance or importance seemed more urgent, more acute and hence the reason why I wanted to write about it. There were times when I felt quite exhausted trotting round and others where there was a window of joy and a sense of healing, when the old me came back.

The first was the sight of a very beautiful female husky dog. I can't remember the exact breed now because at present my memory is shocking but she was three years old and we stopped and spoke to the owner, making a fuss of her at the same time. They say dogs can be therapeutic and this beauty with her soft magnificent coat certainly was. It was nice to talk to the owner and a chance encounter to talk to someone who was happy to talk back to a stranger: we moved on.

We hit the Lush shop, the eco soap and cosmetic shop my husband loves. The smell of all the perfume greets you as you walk in through the door. Some would find it too overwhelming and the riot of colour hits you with all the soaps and bath bombs out on display, but we love it. An unremarkable visit, I was waiting while my husband was paying for the purchase chosen, when one polite shop lady came up to me and the conversation started. In 10 minutes, we had discussed her fine arts degree studies, her previous employment for a larger company as a manager, the Lush company ethos, and had purchased a further anti-stress smelly for the bath. This lady was different. She had buss, drive, passion. There was something special about this women. I literally felt my zest for life and my strength return as we talked. Suddenly I was chatting like the old me and I asked her name which was Mandy and when we returned we would look out for her.

Feeling more cheery, we then hit the Apple Mac shop in St Andrews Street. Swish and elegant in appearance, this shop was busy. Zooming into the store with more energy I took one of the iphone's on display and started to play. I managed to play some songs and some videos, look at maps and write a note. This was fun, and I only felt compelled to move on when my guy was politely hovering around my shoulder hoping we could make our way out to the next store.

Waterstones was next: the book shops are always a must when we come to Cambridge. We split up, at this point, and planned to meet in an hour. Hubby likes science and the environment. I head straight to social sciences, women's studies, writing skills and religion. Sometimes, I look at nursing but I tend to leave this mostly alone, and on this ocassion most definitely did, as it was work related. It was tough to read much today. The academic writing books and critical thinking skills had a glance and I found the concentration hard, content to just mainly skim the pages and look at the covers.

We walked to King's college having eaten at the start of the morning. I paid the £5 entrance fee to go in- having not been in for years and the "other half" went and looked in the National Trust shop. Camera at the ready I was able to take some shots without flash -that was the rules. There were candles, I lit one, paid my £0.20p and said a prayer for my loved ones and friends, remembering a Christian currently abroad and praying for his safe return. I gazed at the windows, looked at Rubens Adoration of the Magi Painting and tried to read the accompanying leaflet but got bored with this, just instead happy to soak up the light from the stained glass and adore the majesty of the place.

We took tea at Borders and browsed at some more books. Borders has a specific women's social section which I enjoyed and then went back to our car using the Park and Ride bus. I looked at the gardens, the people sitting and walking. It felt like a sunday, the soft late afternoon light. Driving back I, as the passenger, fell asleep for a bit and woke up outside Tesco where we needed tea bags.

We came back to find a welcome meal had been prepared by our dear friend who had cared for our daughter all day whilst we had been out. This was a very welcome change and we had bought her some flowers to say thanks.

All in all a pleasant day and an enjoyable one.

Traders work the crude oil options pit at the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday. (Mary Altaffer/Associated Press)

Oil prices lost altitude Friday as the cost of a barrel of liquid gold dropped below $80 US for the first time since September 2007.

Crude for November delivery slipped by as much as nine per cent in morning trading, hitting $78.61 US a barrel, a drop of $6.98 from the previous day's level.

Analysts said the reason for the commodity sell-off is the same rationale that kids use to hide under the bedcovers at night — pure fear.

"The whole market has lost confidence in everything … There's just a lot of panic," Mark Pervan, commodity strategist with ANZ Bank in Melbourne, told the Associated Press.

The last time oil prices had a 7 as the first number was back during the week of Sept. 10 to 14, when a barrel cost $79.14.

Buyers now see economic growth in Canada, the United States and Europe slowing as a result of the shrinking market for global credit.

That has led to worries that oil demand is also faltering.

Many analysts do not know how quickly the economy will slow because of the ongoing financial meltdown. Therefore, oil experts are reluctant to say how much they think demand for crude will fall.

In September, Abadalla Salem El-Badri, secretary-general for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, said that lower demand might slice 700,000 barrels a day from the current 32 million barrels that is used each day.

Common wisdom among traders is that OPEC will defend the per-barrel price at $80, which means a cut in production of crude will be sought to maintain that value.

OPEC has also called an emergency meeting in Vienna for Nov. 18 to discuss its next moves.

Still, the organization's members have three to four million barrels a day in extra production capacity and some states, such as Nigeria, must continue to pump oil for national economic reasons.

The window's open now
this is the best time of year for it
crisp
but not
cold

Sleeping weather

The night sounds of summer hold on
but without their mad tenor or tone
now that it's fall

I hear other sounds tonight too
Whether they can be classified as
fall sounds
I don't know

They are sounds
that are always around
in places like this
but tend to go unheard
by me anyway
lost in the day's din

The rolling hills roll
and the lowing cows low
during the day
as they do at night
I’m sure

But at night
with the window open
and the air coming in crisp
they seem to do it
just a little better

Here I go again. The weekend is half over and I have yet to reach my targeted writing goal.
Televisi

Here I go again. The weekend is half over and I have yet to reach my targeted writing goal.

Television is the culprit. It sits there, all innocent and benign, but once I turn it on, it hooks me and reels me in like a captive fish.

There are too many shows I like to watch. Of all things that really feed my addiction, ION has started showing repeats of Boston Legal. It doens't matter if I've seen the same episode a dozen times within the last month - I'm going to watch it again.

Boston Legal and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. When either are on, I am worthless. One Saturday a while back, some station was showing MBFGW all day. All Day, mind you - I didn't do much that day.

And, of course, the steady favorites like Law & Order are always on one station or another. I have seen every episode of every L & W (orginal and spin-offs), but I can trick myself into thinking that I need to watch at least the first ten minutes - just to make sure it's not an episode I may have missed. After ten minutes, well, I just have to watch it again because, well, darnit, it was such a good episode.

It works every time.

I tried locking myself in a separate room to write, away from the television. I thought if I could get away from the enticer, than I could get some serious writing done. My reasoning was no television equals more productivity.

All I ended up doing was watching episodes of Life from NBC's 24/7 Video on my laptop.

So, now I'm trying to find a compromise between my television addiction and my need to write. When I'm writing, I'm experimenting with the television sound off and the caption on, and the music going and headphones on.

Oh, dear. The entire eight hours of The Stand is about to come on, back to back. I've only seen it four or five times.

Maybe I missed something.

Piano goes misty-eyed
Keys are drops
Of wind
Scattered worldwide
They keep time
Falling down
They beat time
Atonal

Piano's drowning
Chords are playing scales
Making up for lost time
Turning rolling
Out of tune
Tap dancing
Racing back to pale-faces
And dark beads
A refined lace
Of acouctic damp waves
And flooding lieds

But now the piano's off track
The burden's truncated
It loses one black
The swoop flows as rapids in a retro current
Frayed organs never mended
After downpour tore the treadle
Dripping notes are oddment
For the last battle
They slowly leave the choir
Like buskers out of run
Go missing worldwide
Tied
To longing
Hoping
You
Deaf to that desire
When in a gust of clef
Fallen and force-fed
Piano's dead

[caption id="attachment_872" align="alignright" width="300" caption="The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"][/caption]

My mom gave me a box set of the Narnia books when I was in the 6th grade. She wrote a note next to the beginning of chapter one. Now distractions are pecking at my brain and all these holes are giving my thoughts and stories a little too much air. I've got nothing worthwhile and sensical to write about. And until I gather my thoughts back up, here's a dose of nostalgia.
[caption id="attachment_874" align="alignleft" width="291" caption="mom at a Florida beach"][/caption]

Have you ever come across a handwritten note from someone in your past? Did you cherish it or toss it in the nearest trash can? Do you usually keep things written to you so such a find is really no surprise? Instead of fiction, tell me about the nonfiction. With email can you imagine finding any more handwritten notes squirreled away in a book or box or drawer? When was the last time you wrote something with proper ink that someone else might hide away for the future? If you haven't, might you think you should?

I can't be where I am right now. In a rut. In a mindset that I shouldn't be in. Too much to do and not enough time.

So where do I buy time? Do I take it out of my sleep bank and become comatose during class, not able to focus and get work done? What about the small shred of social life that I try to hold on to? As futile as it may sound, I have developed a reward system: do the work, do the college application stuff, do this and do that, and then, if it all gets done (or at least a semblance of it), go out. I don't go far and I don't go often. I am very, very basic and boring. I don't require much at all or all the time. However, this small social interaction can't occur if said outings are canceled and then the whole system is throw out of balance. There is always a next time, though, so I hold onto that.

And this is where I am. Which, I know, isn't the worst place to be, but, according to outside sources, it isn't the best place to be either.

So where can I buy some time? Right now. Any price. I'll pay it. Please.
