Tycker allt att det blev riktigt bra!

En ny underbar layout som Hanna/Fnyz har skapat. Det fotot får mig alltid att tänka på en underbar bok som jag läste när jag pluggade amerikansk litteratur på universitetet: "The heart is a lonely hunter" av Carson McCullers. Där finns en replik som har fastnat i mitt minne, kanske för att jag upplever alla förhållanden just så:

"I varje förhållande finns det en som kysser och en som håller fram kinden." :)

This weekend I saw Ghost Town which was very funny and was a great story. Ricky Gervais does an excellent job of being witty and sarcastic without being heavy handed. I think he is hilarious. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. Funny and heartwarming.
I also saw Burn After Reading. The Coen Brothers do such a good job of creating characters. Everyone was saying Brad was super funny in this movie, which he is but George Clooney was fantastic. It looks like Clooney lost a bunch of weight for this movie. And of course Tilda, Frances and Malkovich were phenomenal as well. I'm sure a film like this isn't one where people point out how great a job the costume designer did, but I'm going to. Clooney's jeans that were worn just too high up at the waist that tapered in at the bottom were amazing for his character, as was his thick gold chain. Brad Pitt's shorts and the way they had him wearing ill fitting suits were perfect for his gym-rat character. Brad is a great actor but I think we're all at the point where we feel we know Brad a little too well to have him be believable in that sort of a role at this point, but I got over it. They created such an interesting story about how it would really play out if some regular joes got a hold of classified information and how all of the characters would really behave. I actually think the scenes with J.K. Simmons who plays the C.I.A superior are genius. The Coen Brothers display insight into true human nature in this movie.

SNL was really funny this weekend. Andy Samberg did a great sketch called Mark Wahlberg talks to animals.

Zache tyckte att det var helgens höjdpunkt. Han har aldrig sovit på ett hotell tidigare. Han måste testa allt som fanns inklusive duschen. Och han såg så fram emot hotellfrukosten, efter allt han hade hört om den tidigare.

Jag sov inget vidare men var överlycklig att ungen kunde andas och som alla mammor så var det fullt tillräckligt för mitt välmående. Vi fick en superb frukost på morgonen, checkade ut och stack till Hanna och Tilda för en kopp kaffe. Tjejerna var hemma själva och såg ut att må finfint. Kullerbyttan har växt ytterligare. Tilda tyckte fortfarande att morfar var tokig och ville inte ha "kägg".  Sen måste vi iväg för att hinna säga farväl till Ronny, Åsa och Andreas. 

Vi har plockat med oss några småsaker till från Älvkarhed så imorgon blir det till att packa ordentligt innan vi far hemåt. Det finns inte på kartan att vi skulle hit på ett bra tag, vi är alla trötta på resandet i min minimala bil. Dessutom är det såååå dyrt. Nej, nu får det vara bra. Vi ska snart ha höstlov, glina och jag. Och det är ju också snart dags att börja fundera på julklappar. 

I could have made it in the evenings in about a week if I had tried. Note: I am a very slow knitter. But yes, it has taken me a year. 

I also made some more of the zipped pouches (not again!) and hair accessories for my friends daughters, their birthdays are coming up in the next few weeks. After the success of last weeks gift giving I have decided to keep to what I know, and the girls are getting the same. I still have to make the headbands but that will have to wait until another day. Incidentally the pictures are not great as there has been rubbish light here due to the storms!

I am also aware that this blog is called bake and sew, yet I haven't done any baking recently. Well the freezer is empty, and the children are fed up with what I am putting in their lunch boxes so I will try and make same cakes and cookies over the next few days. So check back soon for some yummy pics!

Se lo hemos llevado esta tarde, aprovechando que hemos ido a merendar a su casa y que soy una impaciente, y la verdad es que parece que ha gustado bastante. Y digo que soy una impaciente porque la idea original es hacer la parejita, de hecho tengo toda la tela y los materiales comprados. Eso sí, éste lo coseré en casa, con la máquina de coser, que se tarda mucho menos.

Muchas gracias a las chicas del foro de facilísimo por los patrones. La verdad es que sabiendo dónde consultar en caso de duda, he podido coser con mucha más tranquilidad y disfrutarlo más :)

La bolsita, que aunque en la foto no se aprecia lleva como adorno unos corazones de fieltro repujados con guata, la decidimos a última hora como alternativa útil al papel de regalo.

I made this Tilda Kangaroo some days ago. I had the original fabrics except for the ribbon. My son suggested that I used a rasberry red ribbon and made the heart  in the same colour.

I am not happy with the result. I think the kangaroo looks naked in that fabric colour. If I am ever going to make one again I will use brown fabric for the kangaroos.

I have been at the hairdresser all day today. Yes all day, well for 3 and half hours!! Crazy. So consequently I haven't done anything at all. However I thought I would show you a picture of my pincushion as I think it's pretty cute. It was inspired by the Tilda Sew Pretty Homestyle book and uses Tilda fabric for the top and has Cath Kidston fabric at the base.

I liked sewing this new Tilda angel though the sewing instructions from the sewing kit were incorrect. Making the top look like the photo was a bit tricky. This Tilda angel is rather large. She is 63 cm long. I think I will make a smaller version of her... when I have finished some of my other projects....

I finally found time to sew the new Tilda Santa design. I cheated with the embroidery on the jacket.

I used the sewing machine and I have regreted it!

On the Christmas stocking I didn't embroider the letter N because in Denmark the letter N for Noél is not that common and I prefered the motif that I have embroidered.

I decided to try to sew the Tilda Santa in red linen and similar to a Tilda Santa scrapbooking template. I am not happy with the result and I won't make one again.

I made three of these Tilda Gingerbread men.

I can't wait to use them in a Christmas decoration.

Tilda stamp from Magnolia, coloured with Faber & Castell watercolour pencils.  The 2 flourishes are from the flourish sampler.  The flowers in the bottom left corner are from the Nesting Flower pattern.  I've also used some pearls from Papermania and Cuttlebugs Swiss Dots embossing folder.

It was a super easy dish to make, I added the cannelini beans and served with a small portion of rice to soak up some of the sauce. The children thought it was great and asked for me to make it again. You can't ask for more than that.............

I also had a go at embroidery this weekend and copied a design out of Tilda's Sew Pretty Homestyle, I am really pleased with the look of the large rose. I filled the hearts with a mixture of stuffing and lavender which I harvested from the garden. Is there any end to my talents? Oh yeah housework - that never gets done!

♦ Mais il est là ! Depuis 2 jours que je suis dessus le voici enfin sur pattes avec sa petite robe couleur d'été. Le patron est tiré du Livre de Tone Finnanger dans le "Tildas hus", dont je mettrai les références prochainement dans une page destinée à tous les livres à découvrir.
