Hello everyone! This is Clonez, author of starviper.wordpress.com. The sports party has returned once again to Club Penguin. If you do not remember, in November 2007, there was a poll on which party penguins would like to see come back. The choices had been Western, Sports, or Pirate. The battle between Western and Sports went on for days, and it was very close to a tie, if you do not remember. Well, it was a great idea that everyone had chosen western, because this party would have never happened if Sports Theme had won. Also, it fits perfectly in August because of the Summer Olympics! What better way to get into the mood for sports. I haven’t heard that many complaints about this party from older penguins even though Club Penguin brought back two of the rarest items of all.

I don’t understand why Club Penguin had to choose red and blue. Especially since the party came back a second time. It should have been like the color party of November 2006 where green and purple were fighting. It would be pretty nice having another of color face paint. Then again, a lot of items in the past have come back in another color. Especially the nonmember items. Who couldn’t forget the latest “incident” of this: the return of the pirate shoes. Anyway, it wouldn’t hurt Club Penguin to be a little more creative. On the other hand, they did create a new item for nonmembers: the gold medal. This was in the group of items that had to be earned; that you had to work for, such as the scavenger hunts in the past. There were three events at this party. Gosh, I was surprised to see that the Night Club took a break from this party, for it had not been decorated at all. I do not remember a time where it hasn’t. Anyway, the three events are quite original, two of them are running events and one of them is a water event. I like how Club Penguin made each one with lighted knobs sticking out of the ground. The main reason is basically because they didn’t want penguins to cheat and go off track.

The marathon is a perfect example of that; there are a lot of twists and turns. I know they are hard to light up, but it is easy to get the hang of. The marathon is a nightmare if you have horrible internet connection, so it is basically the “most connected” who wins. It goes through almost every outdoor room, but other than the track, the decorations are awful. Sure, they just set up a few chairs and a couple of drink stations; I think it could have improved. By the time the penguin reaches the cove, the track is very sloppy. It narrows down, it curves a lot, and it is puzzling in a way. If I were them, I would have just disposed of the campfire for this party.

The second event is the 3 Lap Race. By far, this is the funniest one to watch. If there is a big group of penguins, many forty or fifty, it looks like one of those roller blade rinks from the 70’s. This event is pretty easy to finish; it does not require an advancement of internet connection like the last one, plus it is a lot more fun to race with buddies because you are perpendicular to each other at all times. One problem with this track is that it looks like a soggy old bath mat. I guess it is just Club Penguin’s “style” of creating a track, but I could be wrong.

The third and final event is kind of cheesy. I mean, its swimming, but it isn’t really swimming because penguins are just walking through water; it is like the pool isn’t even there. Plus it is just going is circles. I mean, swimming is fun in real life, but it doesn’t belong in a place like this. Don’t get me wrong though, I know Club Penguin was trying really hard to make it as realistic as possible for us, but this is just too upsetting. I really wouldn’t call it fun like the other races, but if you need to do it to get the medal, then go ahead and do it.

Once again, there was another new room added to the party; limited edition.This time the room is soccer and it is for members only. Club Penguin has gotten into a phase, and I am not saying that the phase is bad, but it is an improvement. Almost every party since the Medieval party in May has had a special room added on to it. Hopefully, this will continue to go on. I was surprised how many member rooms have been sprouting recently. One party back: there VIP room was a members only building. Nonmembers were left out on a limited edition item: the Penguin Band background, which became the first ever member background. The good thing about this party was that they eased off a bit, there wasn’t a free item this time. Hopefully, these party opportunities for members will disappear soon, or the nonmember population will fall back.

Tester cùng làm việc với nhóm thực hiện dự án tại Công ty Global Cybersoft

Ở hầu hết công ty phần mềm, phái đẹp làm kỹ sư kiểm tra chất lượng (Quality Control Engineer - QCE hay tester) luôn chiếm số đông so với nam giới. Công việc này đã khá phổ biến tại VN và có sức hút đặc biệt với các nữ SV trong những ngày hội việc làm liên quan đến nhân lực phần mềm.

Kiểm tra chất lượng nhằm đáp ứng các yêu cầu đặt ra của khách hàng là khâu rất quan trọng trong bất kỳ quy trình sản xuất nào. Sản phẩm hoàn thiện, chất lượng cao sẽ tạo thêm niềm tin và uy tín của công ty với đối tác. Chính vì vậy, tester là vị trí không thể thiếu và công việc này quyết định khá nhiều vào sự thành công chung của dự án.

Thông thường tester không nhất thiết phải là người có trình độ chuyên môn giỏi, nhưng yêu cầu chung là thông thạo ít nhất một ngôn ngữ lập trình và có hiểu biết cơ bản về kiểm tra phần mềm. Ngoài ra, tester cần thêm kỹ năng phân tích, thiết kế, lập trình và hiểu biết về các lĩnh vực ứng dụng khác nhau của phần mềm. Điều quan trọng không kém là trình độ tiếng Anh đủ để viết và đọc hiểu tài liệu chuyên ngành.

Theo ông Trần Nam Dũng, Trưởng phòng nhân sự và đào tạo Công ty Phần mềm FPT (FSOFT) thì tester phải kiểm tra hoạt động của các chương trình phần mềm theo yêu cầu khách hàng đặt ra, tìm lỗi, chuyển sang nhóm lập trình sửa chữa, đồng thời phải dự đoán được lỗi này bắt nguồn từ đâu. Ngoài ra, các tester phải viết tài liệu về kiểm tra như quy trình, hướng dẫn sử dụng... Do đặc điểm công việc đòi hỏi phải cẩn thận, siêng năng và có tính kỷ luật cao nên rất phù hợp với giới nữ. Tại đây, gần 90% tester thuộc phái yếu.

Chị Đỗ Thị Thu Hương, cựu SV ngành Hệ thống thông tin ĐH Khoa học tự nhiên TP.HCM, cho biết: "Công việc khá hấp dẫn vì luôn có những thách thức. Phát hiện lỗi và dự đoán nguyên nhân sẽ góp phần không nhỏ trong việc tạo ra những sản phẩm hoàn thiện. Hơn nữa, việc tiếp xúc với thiết bị, công nghệ mới thường xuyên sẽ giúp tester tăng thêm kiến thức và công việc không rập khuôn, nhàm chán".

Để thành công trong lĩnh vực lập trình, giới nhân viên tin học phải không ngừng học hỏi nhằm nắm bắt những thay đổi nhanh chóng của công nghệ, đồng thời khả năng sáng tạo phải cao. Và đa phần phái đẹp viết code (mã) không bằng nam giới, về lâu dài khả năng học hỏi cũng hạn chế hơn do bị chi phối bởi gia đình.

"Vì thế, một công việc tương đối nhẹ nhàng, phù hợp với phẩm chất của phụ nữ như nghề tester rất được chị em quan tâm. Sự cẩn thận, kiên nhẫn giúp chúng tôi làm tốt công việc này hơn và do đó cơ hội thăng tiến cũng rất cao", chị Nguyễn Khánh Lê, kỹ sư kiểm lỗi phần mềm tại Công ty PSV (TP.HCM), bày tỏ.

Theo tiêu chuẩn thì tỷ lệ tester so với lập trình viên phải là 1:5, nghĩa là 1 tester tương ứng với 5 lập trình viên. Tỷ lệ này đôi khi tăng lên thậm chí là 1:3 tùy thuộc vào tính chất của dự án. Và trong khi lượng SV ngành công nghệ thông tin ra trường khó tìm việc làm thì các công ty phần mềm lại "khát" nhân lực, bởi số ứng viên đáp ứng được nhu cầu rất thấp.

Hiện nay, ý thức được tầm quan trọng của tester và nhằm tạo điều kiện để SV hiểu hơn về công việc kiểm lỗi phần mềm, các trường ĐH đã đưa vào chương trình tự chọn một vài môn học liên quan đến nghề này. Tuy nhiên, thị trường lao động vẫn thiếu hẳn những kỹ sư kiểm lỗi chuyên nghiệp và hầu hết ứng viên được tuyển dụng phải qua lớp đào tạo lại gồm lý thuyết và thực hành trực tiếp bằng cách tham gia vào dự án.

"Chúng tôi luôn có nhu cầu tuyển dụng tester nhưng tỷ lệ ứng viên đáp ứng được chỉ khoảng 10%, do hầu hết SV mới ra trường còn thiếu thông tin về công việc này", ông Nguyễn Đức Hồng, Phó tổng giám đốc phụ trách bộ phận Testing Service, công ty Global Cybersoft, cho biết. "Tìm lỗi không thực sự là công việc dễ dàng và tester cần phải tinh tế, nhạy bén trong những tình huống đặc biệt của ứng dụng đang kiểm tra. Kỹ sư kiểm tra chất lượng vừa phải có cái nhìn của người phát triển phần mềm, vừa phải là người dùng đầu cuối".

Đại diện của Công ty FSOFT cũng cho rằng do nhận thức về công việc kiểm lỗi khá đơn giản nên nhiều ứng viên không đáp ứng được yêu cầu, chỉ khoảng 12% được tuyển dụng. "Đôi khi chúng tôi phải lấy từ nguồn lập trình viên và thuyết phục họ bằng cách giải thích những yếu tố hấp dẫn trong công việc", ông Dũng bày tỏ.

Thông thường, người kiểm lỗi có cái nhìn tổng thể hơn cả kỹ sư lập trình và một tester giỏi sẽ làm việc khá nhàn trong khi hiệu quả lại tương đối cao. Công việc này được đánh giá dựa trên số lỗi tìm được trong một giờ hoặc một ngày, những lỗi nghiêm trọng đã phát hiện, tỷ lệ lỗi tìm được trước và sau khi cài đặt phần mềm phải từ 85% trở lên... Ngoài ra, mức độ thành công của dự án cũng phản ánh được hiệu quả công việc của những kỹ sư kiểm lỗi.

“Nghề tester trông có vẻ nhẹ nhàng hơn lập trình viên, nhưng không hẳn là không có áp lực. Công việc này còn mang ý nghĩa đánh giá chất lượng sản phẩm nên nếu chương trình có bug (lỗi) thì người đầu tiên chịu trách nhiệm sẽ là tester”, chị Lê bộc bạch.

Ingen har väl missat att Madonna fyller 50 (femtio!) år i dag! Kanal 5 har massa TV-program om henne, och det var bl.a. därför jag ville få DVD:n att fungera så att jag kan spela in filmen "In bed with Madonna". Den har jag inte sett på hundra år, och då jag såg den var det en taskig kopia inköpt i Libanon.

Jag har alltid gillat Madonna och hennes olika stilar när det gäller utseende och låtar (filmerna kan vi ju tala lite tystare om). Speciellt skivan "Ray of light" ligger mig varmt om hjärtat; den var poppis just när jag och D hade träffats och vi lyssnade en hel del på den då. Tänk vad musik är sammankopplat med minnen, både bra och dåliga. Alla par sägs ju ha en "egen" låt, och vår låt får nog bli "Fields of gold" med Sting, men nu var det ju inte det jag skulle skriva om...

Police in Germany used special technology to 'un-swirl' his face in child sex abuse pictures posted on the internet and an Interpol manhunt tracked him down in Thailand but yesterday Christopher Neil was smiling as he started a 3 year and 3 month sentence in a Bankok prison.

Despite Neil appearing in hundreds of child pornography pictures, the Thai judge was lenient because Neil pled guilty. He was ordered to pay 60,000 Baht (£955) to the parents of one of his victims while he still faces trial over abusing the boys younger brother.

When asked to comment on his sentence Neil said he was "OK" with it and it was "Fine".

I have to say, this sends out a terrible message for all the dirty paedophiles who are using Asian Countries, such as Thailand and Cambodia as in Neil's case, that it is fine to abuse and rape its children. I have to wonder why a judge, in any country, who is faced with a pervert like this would not sentence them to at least 40 years. I think it should be manditory, such as in cases like Christopher Neil, when a paedophile is caught in pictures or in videos abusing children, that they are castrated and given 40 years in prison. I think that would send out a pretty strong signal. A slap on the wrist such as this is not enough. It's the same in Scotland and the rest of the UK. Legislation on any type of child abuse should be stringent. Even the death penalty wouldn't be too harsh. Even torture...yes, thats it... they should be castrated, tortured for a few years...then hung...then fed to pigs.

I work on a box called a Agilent N2x tester. I crashed it 3 times today. I guess the number of bugs this box has doesnt help a tester who tests code to the nth degree.

To top it all off, N2x has got various limitations around PPPoE which greatly limits testing PPPoE stuff.

I want to keep it short to ensure it doesnt become a greek and latin blog to non-techie ppl. but if you are one who works with Agilent testers at your work, ping me offline and I will more than happy to help around PPPoE testing limitations , work arounds and what have you.
