In an article of his, he talks about the Higgs boson and completely distorts what the Higgs boson actually is. It's not a particle to prove god. It's something that exists in the insane field of quantum physics. The physics of how things work at a sub-atomic level. Quantum physics is largely theoretical, so we're still trying to directly prove something that we know exists via mathematics.

But what is it?

The answer can be found by doing something called a google search. I found this through a google search that lead me to Wikipedia:

The Higgs boson (sometimes referred to as the God particle by the media) is a hypothetical massive scalar elementary particle predicted to exist by the Standard Model of particle physics. It is the only Standard Model particle not yet observed, but would help explain how otherwise massless elementary particles still manage to construct mass in matter. In particular, it would explain the difference between the massless photon and the relatively massive W and Z bosons. Elementary particle masses, and the differences between electromagnetism (caused by the photon) and the weak force (caused by the W and Z bosons), are critical to many aspects of the structure of microscopic (and hence macroscopic) matter; thus, if it exists, the Higgs boson has an enormous effect on the world around us.

In normal human terms, the Higgs boson is what keeps all matter in the universe together. If you look deep enough, you'll find that everything is made of... nothing! Usually I lose people after that part, so if you're still with me, what we find when we look deep enough in something is that there's empty space. A ton of it. So much empty space that you could essentially equate it with infinity. This, as you can imagine, is a big, big problem. The Higgs boson was calculated mathematically to exist as the force that keeps everything in the universe afloat. Nothing exists, but the Higgs boson keeps all of this nothingness together.

Still with me? No? I'm not either, don't worry.

Quantum mechanics (and physics) is probably the weirdest thing in the universe. Erm, literally. You want to explain something you can't see? Invoke quantum physics to explain it until you can. Most insulting is that Rush trivializes all of the hard work in order to prove these theoretical particles:

Again, mathematical calculations are central to science. Einstein, before being able to prove the existence of things such as black holes, proved them with mathematical calculations. By the logic of Mr. Limbaugh, there's no way that Einstein actually did this.

Another insulting moment is when he says this:

Snerdley just said to me there are a lot of physicists that believe in God.

In reality, the real world in which we live, there are a lot of physicists who use the term 'god' metaphorically for the universe. Of course Rush will never admit this, because in his monkey brain it's true. There's no reasoning with these people.

Naturally, Mr. Limbaugh continues his embarrassing tirade and trivializes science to everyone who listens. That's a lot. Even though Rush is a gigantic faggot and one of the dumbest people in the world, he has a gigantic following. Conservative fundamentalist Christians love him. As you can see, there's reasons for why they love him. These reasons are mostly bullshit, -- actually all bullshit -- but they continue to follow him.

I think my favorite comedian and philosopher, noted as "Chomsky with dick jokes..." can sum up my thoughts on Rush.

I won't even get into Expelled and Ben Stein, both excruciatingly wrong. But I will say this, we have a new inductee into the List of Creationist Failures!

Quick sum up. Medusa's plans are revealed even more! What she's planning will reveal the Witch Mass to Shibusen if she fails... only the Froggy and Mice witch know what she's up to, so they try to stop her. We finally find out who that red demon is in the opening. Stein teaches Blackstar the way to equip Tsubaki's feyblade! Whilst Maka....finds out what she lacks so that Stein can teach her. Medusa owns the mice witch but leaves the Frog witch to unlock someone from the witch prison in cell 13...seems really bad doesn't it? Don't know how this person is related to her research on Soul, but we will see soon enough.

Blackstar putting his finger in the pot was funny. Facial expressions were classic for someone like Blackstar. Then we have the accidental flash of Blair when she asks if anyone wants to bath with her..sadly enough, not any action scenes, apart from the witches fighting each other, eventhough Medusa was kinda cheating. Medusa is one pro witch, can stay in her 'Soul Protect' spell as well as fight.

I'm glad next episode will have fighting with two of the pairs, Not sure about Death the Kid...

Junges-Freiburg-Stadtrat Sebastian Müller gab in dieser Woche in einer Presseäußerung bekannt, dass er nach dem Austritt der Grünen-Stadträte Monika Stein und Coinneach McCabe Mitglied der Fraktionsgemeinschaft Junges Freiburg/Die Grünen bleibe, die damit dank uns immerhin noch genauso viele Sitze hält wie die CDU.

"Wir bedauern den Abschied von Monika und Coinneach", so Stadtrat Müller, "weil sie meistens mit den Junges-Freiburg-Themen auf einer Wellenlänge lagen." Allerdings, so Müller weiter, erwarte er sich auch von der Mitarbeit in der herkömmlichen Fraktionsgemeinschaft, dass er die jungen Themen aus der Wählergemeinschaft weiterhin gut einbringen könne. "Wir wollen ein frecher Partner bleiben."

Am vergangenen Freitag, 20. Juni hatten die jüngsten Grünen-Stadträte Monika Stein und Coinneach McCabe ihren Austritt aus der Fraktionsgemeinschaft bekanntgegeben. Aufgrund inhaltlicher sowie persönlicher Differenzen wollen sie eine eigene Grüne Alternative Liste gründen.

She'd never admit it out loud, but she rather wished she could be his partner. But Marie was the better choice. Azusa was more likely to increase his insanity with her attitude. "Don't dissect Marie, Stein." Azusa had said calmly before leaving to her post.

"I can think of more interesting people to dissect." He replied dully, his eyes showing his clear annoyance.

Azusa smirked. "So, it is."

Azusa had no intentions of finding a man to settle down with, and she was not deluding herself by thinking that maybe one day, Stein could be the one. She was merely intrigued by the doctor, and Azusa liked analyzing the things that interested her. Stein was not a man, he was a study.

“Where are we going?” I hissed. “Wait and see. It’s totally worth it.” was all I could get out of him. Beyond the door was a hall. Not a hall like you see in a normal building, but a hall that matched the doors that shut soundlessly behind us. Double barrel vaulted arches loomed overhead in the darkness and busts of old men set on pedestals gazed disapprovingly at us as we wandered down its length. It was like we had found a back door to a museum. I just knew we’d be arrested soon.

The hallway forked and Mountain Man unhesitatingly led me on. Then down a set of stairs and then... What’s that noise?

Somewhere down the hall, I could just make out what I thought might be a crowd of people. As we finished the flight of steps, we entered a large windowless room. At least I think it was windowless. I can’t say for sure because every inch of wall space was taken up with racks and racks of beer steins. There were two sizes, big and bigger. The center of the room was dominated by an impressive, circular stone fountain. Mountain Man quickly informed me that the smaller of the steins were for the ladies and selected one big enough to make a home out of after you finished your drink, handed it to me and then grabbed his own.

I followed him to the fountain where we gave them a quick rinse in the ice cold water and carried them to a bar that looked like it had been ripped directly out of Dungeons and Dragons. A big, bald man, complete with impressive mustache grabbed our steins and filled them from a hog’s head behind him.

“The secret,” Mountain Man whispered to me as our steins were being filled, “is to immediately stick your thumb as far down into the beer as possible when he hands it to you. Otherwise it’ll overflow. That’s how they spot the tourists.”

I did and instructed and killed most of the head before it could go on an independent expedition down the side of the vessel and across the bar. We paid and stepped through another arched doorway into... Valhalla?

“So this is where all the Norse Gods go to get away from it all”, was all I could think to say. The room before us was enormous, punctuated by huge columns that held up massive stone vaults barely visible above the smoke and darkness. Long communal tables were peopled by all sorts of Salzburgers. There were families, off duty workers, old folks, everyone except tourists. I quickly wondered how I could look as Austrian as possible.

Mountain Man has no problem blending in here. Though he and I grew up in the same town in New Hampshire, he is about as Germanic looking as you can get. Tall, fair skinned, blue eyes, blond hair and possessing the ability to not only speak German, but to speak it so well that German speakers don’t know it’s not his native tongue. They may not think he’s from their area, but he’s so good that they just assume he’s from Frankfurt or something. It doesn’t hurt that his real name is a common one in this part of Europe, either.

I am a different story. I don’t look particularly Germanic, at the time, I didn’t speak hardly any German at all, my name is not one found in this part of the world and to make it worse, pretty much my entire wardrobe came from L.L. Bean. I wasn’t sporting a fanny pack or twenty six pounds of camera equipment but essentially, I screamed “tourist”.

I summoned up my best “I belong here” look and followed my guide to an empty booth on the periphery of the throng and scooted in. Mountain Man smiled, clinked my stein and hoisted. I followed suit and was in heaven.

I love beer. Specifically, I love good beer. Precisely, I love good wheat beer, and this was the best I’d ever had in my young life.

Many years ago, My father did something truly dastardly. I don’t know if it was his plan from the start., but the effect was the same. At some point when I was in high school, my Dad made it known that I could have a beer out of the fridge if I wanted it. The rules were that I could only have one, that I couldn’t give any to friends and that it couldn’t leave the house. The goal was to demystify beer and hopefully keep me from doing some of the usual stupid kid things involving alcohol and parties and it worked for the most part. The evil part was revealed to me only once I went to college. It turned out that what my Father always bought was really good, imported beer. When you are raised on caviar-beer, so to speak, cheese whiz-beer holds little appeal. This was my curse. As a poor student, I saved up for my expensive imported beers, didn’t share with the guys drinking the PBR and tried very hard to make each bottle last as long as possible.

Here, in Salzburg, it was a different story. I was staring down what looked like a ceramic well of fantastic beer and there was plenty more where that came from. The first liter went down eeeeeasy. The second, just as smoothly. The third, I don’t remember so well.

At some point a older man in coveralls wandered over with a stein of his own and a plate piled high with thinly sliced meat. He asked something in German and Mountan Man replied favorably. “He wants to join us.” I was feeling mighty rosy by now and flashed him a big lopsided smile. He grinned and sat opposite us. Mountain Man and the the gentleman made introductions and I was informed that he was a plumber that he had just gotten off work. We shook hands, I did my best “pleased to meet you” pantomime and he nodded approvingly at our drinks.

After a few minutes of me staring hazily into the crowd while Mountain Man and the plumber chattered away, I was shaken from my thoughts by an offered plate. The plumber was smiling at me and making the international “do you want some” gesture with his open palm. The plate of meat looked... safe and the realization that I had roughly three leters of beer in me and nothing else, struck home. Brightening at the concept of something to soak up the Hefeweizen, I happily accepted. He loaded up a napkin and passed it to me.

The meat was... chewy. Not fatty, exactly, but tough. I had another piece. Chew, chew, chew. “What kind of meat is this?” A brief exchange was had between the two German speakers. “Boiled, shaved cow’s cheek”, Mountain Man gleefully replied.

Hmmm. I took another, very long pull from the stein.

Han het Guttorm. Jeg lo og pekte på Theo, han tok over derfra. For vi har ei Guttormgreie. Dama til Guttorm kom etterhvert, og så temmelig sur ut. Passa på å kose veldig åpenlyst med ham, sånn HAN ER MIN JÆVLA UNDERAGE WHORE. Care, tenkte jeg og gikk med strømmen. Jeg nappa med meg et norsk flagg, og flere fulgte mitt eksempel. Så der gikk vi, nordmenn i Norge, med flagget høyt heva eller slepende etter seg i bakken, alt ettersom promilla steig og sank. Vi dro tilbake, røyka enda mer morotobakk, og så tror jeg jammenmeg jeg sovna, for det neste jeg husker er at jeg sitter lent mot Eddie og koser ubevisst på Peter eller Petters øre. Jeg har en tendens til å fikle med noe, denne gangen var det øret hans det gikk utover. P hadde praktfulle ører, riktig myke, akkurat passe store. Så da han gjorde meg oppmerksom på det, spurte jeg bare om jeg kunne få lov til å fortsette. Han la seg på magen min og sa at ja, faen, jeg er i himmelen, fortsett. Klart jeg fortsatte, han malte tilogmed. Prøvde iallefall, det hørtes mer ut som snorking. Så har jeg et sånt svart hull i hukommelsen igjen - jeg ligger på ei rød madrass på Simens rom med P, og lytter til alt pisset de prater. Jeg ler en hel del, for der er det mye barndomsminner og greier det gikk i. Det endte med at Simen drakk sand og konkluderte med at satan, sand er oppskrytt, og hvorfor i faen har jeg en halvliter med sand på rommet? P var riktig varm og myk og helt perfekt å sove på, jeg hadde det alle tiders.

I dag morges våkna jeg med en heidundrende hodepine, jeg lærer aldri, med skjørtet alt for langt opp og med en tunge i øret. Jeg tror jeg fniste eller noe, for tunga blei borte og jeg kjente skjegg som koste med nakken og halsen og magen min, og jeg liker skjegg. Jeg liker virkelig skjegg, så det var en ordentlig fin måte å våkne opp på. Jeg er faktisk halvkonvertert, og dèt er bra jobba. P er en kjøleskapmann! Etter litt om og men jeg hopper over, sa jeg at jeg hadde lyst på røyk, og vi stod opp og laga hver vår rullings mens Simen laga kaffe med aske i. Aska blei tilsatt etterpå, men likevel - TENK KJAPT EGGS! Jeg hiver mobilen hennes, hu er litt redusert og fikser ikke. Den detter ned i et høl av en dørstokk og blir der. Og ikke nok med det, det er ikke bare et høl av en dørstokk, hølet er et føkkings svart høl som er altetende og jævlig svært. Mobilen til Eggs ligger altså nå under huset hans, langt langt langt under, og min genser og noe støff ligger der også etelleranna sted. Alt i alt var det en grusom, jævlig og temmelig vellykka tur til Hvasser, unntatt at det regna og at vi så forjævlige og rundpulte ut dagen etter, og håret mitt er stygt pga tigerrrfarga "striper". Long story short, det var aldri meninga å farge håret - eller, deler av det. Bussturen hjem var føkkings vidunderlig, jeg så ut som et knarkevrak av dimensjoner, store briller, pulehår, hølete sko, kort skjørt med ekle ting festa til seg og en altfor avslørende topp, noe jeg lett fiksa med ei rutete manneskjorte str L. De horekompleksene mine blir bare mer og mer påtrengende. Harru en femmer te strumpbyxor el?

Aber dann kam trotzdem nochmal ordentlich Wind. Und nicht nur n bischen, sondern so dass ich gut Druck in der Tüte hatte. Hatte ich eigentlich schon das Flachwasser erwähnt, dass durch die Sandbänke entstanden ist? Jedenfalls bin ich nur auf 100 Metern hin- und hergefahren und hab nur trainiert. Und das Resultat war schon sehr fein: Backloops mit Bums, Railey to Switch und Backloop to Switch :) Hat sehr gerockt, bei der nächsten Trainingsrunde muss das nochmal gefestigt werden...

As canecas são ótimas companhias dos bebedores de chopp, pois nelas cabe uma quantidade bem satisfatória do líquido. Quantidade o suficiente para embebedar uma pessoa (dependendo da pessoa) em apenas 3 rodadas.

Normalmente quando se vai nas festas (cervejadas, choppadas, etc) você é presenteado com uma para guardar de recordação, afinal de contas vai ser meio difícil você conseguir lembrar de alguma coisa depois.
Elas podem ser encontradas em diversos tipos de materiais, como alumínio, vidro, acrílico, cerâmica. Mas as mais tradicionais continuam sendo as de vidro, que são feitas com um vidro bem espesso. Também, só assim para aguentar tantos brindes seguidos sem trincar.
Com relação ao tamanho, elas não respeitam um tamanho específico. Mas fica óbvio que quanto mais couber, melhor.

Etterpå skal jeg skate. Jeg må bare komme meg ut av de hølete conversa først. Jeg gleder meg. Først skal jeg på jobb.

Nå er jeg ferdig på jobb. Jeg tjente en tusenlapp, og fikk is av sjefen. Men jeg ville ikke ha den, for jeg hadde akkurat vært nede på mækkærn og kjøpt sjokolademilkshake. Jeg fikk hjernefrost. Før jobb var jeg hos Eddie. Vi (han) lagde hytte av bord og stol og teppe, og vi satt under der og diskuterte hvorfor han løy meg opp i trynet og tvang til seg kyss. Jeg bytta på å være passiv og aktiv, det var gøy. Stein var på busstoppet hans da jeg skulle dra derfra. Og en yoyogankstahood som hadde "Caroline" tatovert på leggen. Vi pekte, grøssa og lo. Kvasikommunisten som jobber på Maxbo så på oss stygt. Og da jeg røyka, så han truckføreren på meg, stoppa trucken, smilte, starta trucken og kjørte videre. Nå DET var creepy.

Og moro. Jeg skal til Oslo i morra. Se på Brand, Ibsen. Bonnevie blei frisk igjen, så ingen U-sving denne gangen. Meld meg, baby. Og jeg håper du rekker å se det før det er for seint, for da blir både du og jeg bitre. Iallefall jeg. Jeg har ikke noe å skrive om - eller jo! Mopeden min er kommet til rette igjen! Min kjære Åberg er kommet til rette igjen. Han kommer alltid til rette igjen. Åberg. Han hadde tatt seg en springmarsj til Sandefjord, og i går kveld fikk jeg telefon av polizen. Først blei jeg redd, men så tenkte jeg at jo, visst fanden, det er en bra ting at de ringer meg, jeg behøver ikke være redd, de har nytt om Åberg! Jeg henta ham etter skolen. Jeg var glad og fornøyd.

Het is een jaarmarkt met diverse attracties.
We waren al heel wat jaren niet meer geweest, maar het mooie weer lokte ons naar buiten. En Urmond is niet ver.
Onze speciale aandacht heeft altijd de theetuin. Niet vanwege de thee, ik drink koffie, maar vanwege zijn tuin en de rust.
Mooie planten gezien in de tuin. En de tuin lijkt haalbaar. Ik bedoel te zeggen dat deze tuin me het gevoel geeft dat ik op de goede weg ben met ons eigen tuintje.

Over tuin gesproken. De eerste, vijf, bloemen zijn open aan de passieflora.

De drukte viel ons dit jaar mee. we hadden voldoende tijd rond te kijken en genoeg plaats om te lopen. Prettig.

Terug in Stein zijn we nog even naar de finish van de Ronde van Limburg gaan kijken.

As usual, we have a look at the difference between the Cut and Uncut version.

Episode 5 continues with Maka and Blackstar's arrival at Stein's stronghold. There are great battle scenes throughout this episode, Maka reveals her ability to see other individual souls, similar with Stein's ability.

The battle starts with Maka and Soul making their move, but was easily warded off by Stein. At the same time, the cheeky Black Star tried to attack from the other side. All their assault was not successful and that is when Maka realises the difference in terms of strength between them and Stein.

Stein manage to grab Maka during the fight and Black Star takes this opportunity to apply his Big Wave technique at Stein. Although the hit was successful, it didnt leave any effect on Stein as he has already adjusted his wavelength to suit's Blackstar's attack in advance, neutralising the impact.

Stein counter-attacked by applying some electrical energy to Blackstar, knocking him out on the spot.

Maka and Soul went to their last resort, that is the Soul Resonance after Soul manage to convince the dejected Maka. Maka almost gave-up after getting a glimpse at Stein's soul and realised how powerful Stein is.  Both of them merged their wavelength to produce the Witch Hunter weapon and launched the final attack against Stein.  As expected, Stein manage to parry  the attack with ease and destroying it at the same time.

Stein made the advance towards the fallen Maka, but was stopped by Soul. Soul shielded Maka with his body and warned Stein not to harm his meister. This is where the big joke starts. Stein kneeled down, patting Soul's head and giving the pair a passing grade. He told them that this fight was a supplementary lesson ordered by the Shinigami himself.

Other notes

Pity Black Star didnt use Tsubaki as his weapon as she was guarding Sid Sensei and I still dont understand Sid Sensei's origin as a zombie in this episode. The Shinigami and Death the Kid was watching the whole battle from somewhere else and I'm surprised that even Death doesn't know anything about the supplementary lesson. The Shinigami stated the Stein's strength lies in his soul with high levels of observation, correspondence and compatibility. That's how he manage to absorb Black Star's attack at the beginning. Kid proceeds to assist Maya and Black Star after watching them losing their battle. The pathetic Death didnt make it in time as he was so depressed that he forgotten to fold the end of the toilet paper into triangulars. As a perfectionist himself, this was a major blow to him and even the Thompson sisters couldnt manage to drag him out of it.

Who are all of you people? What are you doing here? Why are you yelling at me? Last thing I knew I was in here in the dark talking to Tara and Diopter and maybe Sixty, if he's still around, and now all you guys are here and you're scaring me.

Now, one would imagine that the thought of suddenly garnering yourself thousands of readers, when you thought you were talking to a few friends, would be enough to get any blogger going. This blogger seemed so put off by it, at first, that she deleted archives. And she admits she is a little crippled by all the attention:

So, this is what I was about to publish when all the crazy people from the Internet showed up and I got paralyzed by self-consciousness. Oh, well. Here goes nothing.

I found it refreshing. I don't know if it's genuine and I don't really care. A lot of bloggers are link whores. Or soon become so when they get a taste of the lovely sweet rush of a link. Attention! Someone can see me! Someone is reading me! I want more! 'Grace' will no doubt get there but for the time being, it's enjoyable to see someone who is writing. She's going to have a lot to say, and very knowledgeably no doubt, about how a blog's audience affects your writing. I dunno if she'll go there so I'll just imagine it.

Anyway, after looking at this blog and thinking about this I got to thinking about Lynn Freed and her book about writing and her discussion on family and how difficult it can be to write the way you want to write, about what you want to write, when you have family, real or imagined, reading over your shoulder.

How do we allow this 'audience' to inhibit us or our writing? Obviously if you're not published, you don't blog and no one is reading your stuff you don't have an audience as such but there is stil an audience somewhere that is affecting the way you write, or don't, as the case may be.

As Freed points out, the fact that you have a family that you sense may not like what you have written, or you want to write about them, forces you to create a censorious audience for yourself. You are aware of Gertrude Stein's 'little dog' and you write as that person, that the dog knows, that identity. Most people seem to blog in this identity, and for good reason. They get hammered when they don't. (Anonymity and the immediacy of the internet put family grievances in the shade when it comes to the fallout caused by your writing. Of course, internet snark doesn't mean nearly as much personally as family snark but the savagery is enough to stop you working). Grace seems to have been writing in what Stein conceived of as the other identity, the one that doesn't require the little dog to acknowledge to come into being and was thus not limited by expectations or projected expectations.

Although her audience has expanded greatly I do hope she can keep writing while ignoring the little dog (as much as I love them).

So, lots of questions and no real answers. I'm just thinking. And watching the footy.
