Jessica a mother of three wonderful Children living in Tennessee confronted me on a Social Network.

Of the over 250,000 people I have encountered on the internet since last November you are the first person to ask me, “Why do you call yourself Santa??" What a great question!!!

I think it's this simple... it's nice to work only one day a year. {LOL}

No really...

I have taken it upon myself as Santa Claus to

bring as much joy and peace to the hearts of

the Child in all of us.

These are the most uncertain of times. The clay of the Earth’s future is up for the taking. Life, as most of us know it, has never been so fragile.

Seven years ago a terrorist attack took the innocence of our generation. In one single moment, not knowing the severity of its consequences, I witnessed a loss to the human spirit of all mankind. This act of pure terror crossed every line of separation. Weather your ethnic background or station in life it rooted you to the quick.

The fabric of our precious life has been torn. The rippling effect continues to tear at my soul. But, as Santa, I hold if only a drop of pure hope and faith in my heart that as a community of believers in a much higher power there is purpose for us to get out from underneath the covers this morning.

I believe with such a political change on the horizon in America we are going to break the shackles of terrine that were clamped on all living soul that day seven years ago. This is not just about Americans. It’s about humanity around the world. I travel around the Earth, not just at Christmas delivering presents to the wide eyed innocence believers of the Spirit of Christmas which lives deep in the souls of the Child in all of us.

For it is on the Internet, my twitter peeps will attest, our world comes to a new understanding every sunset and sunrise, that we have become one global Community. It’s simply, the need for information about how to acquire a better tomorrow that is why we get out of bed.

What is a better tomorrow? That my friend is what we should be asking ourselves with every step down this path we call life.

This is not rocket science. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel; although we are probably going to. {LOL}

We have three simple choices:

1.       To make a positive choice through hope and faith in a better life for our Children.

2.       To make a negative choice and destroy the future for our Children.

3.       To make no choice and have no impute into the future of Children.

The funny thing is all three choices take the same amount of energy.  Every morning as the sun raises and I slowly pull the covers down from over my cap I give a pray of thanks that today I will feel the power of  a Childs smile as their lay their eyes on me for the first time this magical season.

At that moment there is only one choice I have to make.

I want to thank you for making me look into myself. It first I thought maybe I was going through a midlife crises. But now it is clear I’m a mission.

 My beloved friends of santalivenow as most everyone is aware there are thousands of people in our own respective states of origin that are far less fortunate than you and I and because of that their joy in this most holiest of holidays is diminished. There are far too many children and adults alike who dread to see the 25th of December come because their hearts want so much to share in the joy of this festive holiday yet their minds will not let them. A variety of reasons may cause this for them. Those that readily come to mind are: 1. Lack of finances or very limited finances; 2. Lack of nourishment or fear of not knowing where the next meal will come from

3. Lack of shelter or permanent shelter

4. Lack of feeling that there is in fact so other living person out there who cares

 

It makes little difference what the reason is except as to what remedy would help the most. Whatever their reason is - it blemishes what in my opinion should be the most joyous of all days for everyone not just the privileged.. Hence the reason for this post.

My friends, I would ask this holiday season that each and every one of you reach out to someone you know or know of who may be in one of these positions. Donate to one of your local food pantry’s or donate a toy to anyone one of the many charities that collect new toys for those children who would not otherwise have a gift for Christmas- In doing so you give someone a reason to rejoice this holiday season who might not otherwise do so. In doing so you give the greatest gift ever given that of LOVE. Your act of kindness does not necessarily have to be miraculous to be life changing. For if the truth be known- a miracle- is nothing more than a pleasant event that wasn’t calculated to happen- yet happens anyway! It could be as simple as reaching out and shaking the hand of someone who looks lonely or lost and saying “may the blessings of God be with you today and throughout this holiday season”. It could be that bag of groceries you left at your local food bank or on the doorstep of someone you know who truly needs them; or that toy you donated to Toys for Tots or some other similar organization. What ever kindness it is you chose to do it will only go to prove that there are Angels who walk among us and you have just become one of them!

And here is how you can use these elegant stems in your Christmas tree, and they even work with a cabin-woodsy theme.  Notice the stuffed bears in the background ~ this is the tree with the raccoon in the top!

Right around the corner, I've been admiring this handsome golden Santa in a luxurious, fur-trimmed, golden brocade  hat and coat, bearing a bountiful garland of fruit and gifts.  He will really stand out on your mantle or sideboard.

A fé move montanhas, já diziam os antigos... E nesse domingo aproximadamente 200 mil pessoas apareceram para visitar a imagem e a cidade de Aparecida, (167 km da capital São Paulo), e prestar suas homenagens.

  • Sobre a imagem:
  • A própria imagem da Padroeira do Brasil,  Nossa Senhora Aparecida, é desse tipo. Seu nome completo é N. Sa. da Conceição Aparecida no Rio Paraíba.  Normalmente não vemos a presença da lua a seus pés devido ao pesado manto azul que a cobre,  mas ela lá está. A imagem encontrada numa pescaria em 1717 foi logo identificada como de N.S. da Conceição, pela lua.
  • Esse manto que a cobre lhe dá mais dignidade, pois a imagem é de cor marron, pouco chamativa. Mas o manto pode ter outra função. A tal Lua a seus Pés tem a incômoda forma de dois chifres.  Dependendo da habilidade do escultor, fica-nos a impressão dos chifres...
  • Ainda assim, a imagem da Aparecida, sem seu manto, é mais bonita. E reforça o problema: qual o significado dessa imagem da mulher com os pés sobre a lua?

Do you know what I hate?  Picking bones out of my mouth after biting into a succulent fish dish at a bistro.  Do you know what I hate more?  When the waitress tells me "It's white fish.  They have more bones."

Ichthyological suppositions aside, this chef needs to get a pair of fucking seafood pliers.

I don't want this post to be a veritable bitchfest.  So, let me highlight some of the amazing work they're doing at this Santa Ana, California eatery:

We started out with the bacon-covered plaintain that you see above.  I loved it, but my bitchy boyfriend (yes, he's bitchier than I am) didn't.  That's because he prefers his bacon deep-fried crispy.  As for me, well, you can wrap a nail with bacon and I'd eat it.

Carribean Crepes

Unanimously, the best dish of the evening was the Carribean Crepes.  Let me give you word for word how the menu described this fabulous plate:

Crepes of Fresh Florida Rock Shrimp and Ahi with West Indian Curry & Coconut Milk, Red Onion, Red Pepper & Celery sauteed in Honey Butter, flamed in Rum and topped with Fresh Mango Sauce & Toasted Coconut Island Rice Pilaf w/Cashews & Raisins, Baby French String Beans.

This light and flavorful dish would have been perfect if it had the "Fresh Florida Rock Shrimp" they promised, which it didn't.  However, it's complexity and creativity won me over leaps and bounds.

Now, let me show you the most fucked up dish of the night... mine:

Mexican Sea Bass in Phyllo

Unfortunately, I ordered the Sea Bass, a dish so bad it deserves bullet points

  • It looks like King Triton shat on my plate
  • It smelled like 2 day old sea food
  • It tasted like 2 day old sea food
  • I had to pick 5 bones out of my mouth
  • There's no FUCKIN' phyllo dough!!

The moment the waitress placed it on the table, I smelled fishiness, something you would NEVER smell in fresh seafood no matter the species or time of the month.

Then, I had a bone to pick, or two, or three, etc.  I mentioned it to the waitress and that's when she gave me the anatomical summary of white-fleshed water dwellers.  Listen, Jacques Coust-HO, you should NEVER have to pick bones out of your fucking mouth at a restaurant!!

Ok, that out of my system, the ironic thing is I would still go back to this place.  Why?  Because I liked the decor, most of the food and I spent a great evening there with friends.  Now, if only they'd get their shit together, I'd so recommend it 100%.

K-pop stars will hold a concert to raise funds for an annual benefit festival held for ethnic Koreans in Japan. The annual Autumn festival, held in Osaka to promote cultural exchange with Japan and to help ethnic Koreans in Japan, is attended by some 30,000 audience members every year. The 24th annual "One Korea Festival" will be held at the Sun Plaza located within Osaka Park on October 26.

"Super Live 08," a benefit concert that will be held to support the annual festival, will feature a number of popular K-pop artists including Jun Jin, Park Hyun-bin, Jun Young-rok and Yang Ji-won. Five-member Japanese accapella group "Permanent Fish", the sibling trio "Cenal" and Park Sung-min from the history drama series "Taewangsashingi" will also make appearances on stage.

Jun Young-rok and Yang Ji-won will also take part in the actual festival that will kick off on October 26. Joining them will be Song Bong-joo from "Scene from A Bicycle," "Park Bo Band"--made up of Korean-Japanese singers--and the percussion group "Santa."

Top notch reference source for iPhone

 For those who already know of David Pogue's Missing Manual series there is hardly any need to read a review of any of the latest publications, like "iPhone, the Missing Manual, Second Edition." For those in need of a written guide to the iPhone, you just buy the book and enjoy it, without wasting any time with comparisons, reviews, or undue deliberation. You can trust the author and publisher. For years, Pogue Press', the Missing Manual series, has been a benchmark of quality for the genre. In an era where manufacturers provide skimpy support materials, the Missing Manual series acts as a great substitute.

For those unfamiliar with the series, I'll elaborate on the iPhone book. It is a great book. It is designed to tell you in an objective casual, easy to follow fashion, all you need to know about using your iPhone. It is lavishly produced in heavyweight glossy paper with high resolution full-color graphics. The text is larger sized and organized in a very easy-to-read layout. There are many dozens of sidebar "Tips" which break up the text and make learning about the iPhone very easy.

The best part of the book is the content where you get a very thorough, comprehensive, and well-organized presentation of the iPhone hardware, software, and services. In six parts and fifteen chapters, Mr. Pogue covers nearly everything an average user needs to know about the product. There are plenty of sections covering advanced topics, as well, including use of the iPhone in a business setting.
