Aaron Sorkin s'attaque dans sa nouvelle série aux coulisses du petit écran. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip est à mi-chemin entre le drame et la comédie, la série, portée par un casting de rêve, raconte l'arrivée au Studio 60 de deux nouveaux scénaristes, interprétés par Bradley Whitford et Matthew Perry, pour remédier aux problèmes d'audiences.

Le Studio 60 est depuis longtemps le repère d'une émission à succès. Mais depuis quelques temps, les audiences ne sont plus au rendez-vous. Jordan McDeere (Amanda Peet), productrice de l'émission, veut alors redonner un élan nouveau à cette émission. Nouvelle productrice sur le network, elle est également soucieuse d'apporter sa touche. Pour cela, elle va engager deux talentueux scénaristes, Matt Albie (Matthew Perry) et Danny Tripp (Bradley Whitford). Nous voilà alors plongés dans les coulisses du mythique Studio 60 et dans le monde impitoyable du petit écran.

Lancée en septembre 2006 sur NBC, la série a rassemblé plus de 13 millions de téléspectateurs pour son pilote. Mais au fil des semaines, l'audience s'est de plus en plus réduite pour atteindre à peine 7 millions de téléspectateurs réguliers. Bien qu'elle soit appréciée des critiques et des CSP+ (classe socio-professionel superieur), la série fut annulée après une saison par NBC, en raison de ses audiences non satisfaisantes.
Cependant la série a eu droit a une saison compléte de 22 épisodes, par ailleurs les critiques sont toutes unanime, c'est une série "Intelligente" ou "intellectuel" en effet méme si elle reste à la porté de tout le monde, Studio 60 on the sunset strip est une série ou chaque phrase est pesé et ou toutes les paroles ont un veritable sens et rôle dans l'intrigue ainsi il n'y a aucun remplissage inutile.
L'echec de la série est dù à plusieurs facteurs, dans un premier temps, elle fut diffusé en méme temps que American Idol, qui rassemble plus de 20 millions de téléspectateur regulier, ainsi Studio 60 on the sunset strip n'avait aucune chance (toutes les série diffusé en méme temps ont était quasiement toutes annulée) il etait donc impossible rivalisé avec une nouvelle série. Dans un second temps c'est une série intelligente qui bien au dela de l'intrigue fait passer un message et ou toutes les parole ont un sens plus ou moins compliqué à saisir, ainsi le public "populaire" aura du mal à cerné l'intrigue. Et enfin Studio 60 on the sunset strip nous montre le revers de la célébrité et les coulisse du petit écrans se qui à tendance à faire fuir les téléspectateurs adépte de série policiére et d'action.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip est d'ailleurs selon les critiques l'une des 3 meilleurs série de ses 15 dérniéres années. Une série intelligente, surprenente, interresante et qui méle suspense et comédie à merveille un diamant à l'état brut à regarder si cela n'a pas etait fait.

I hope the new job is good.  I think it has good potential.  It's not engineering at all.  My title is Project Management Specialist.  I'm sure that's a bunch of bologna.  (Speaking of bologna, I don't like that it's not spelled the way it sounds.  It should be spelled bolognie or bologney.)  Anyway, my new job is in Renton, where D works.  He's excited because now we can carpool.  I'm excited because my new manager said that once I know what I'm doing, I'll have the option to work virtually sometimes.  I think that will be nice.  The commute will be longer, 25 miles versus 10 miles, but since we are going to carpool, it should be good.  It will mean more crate time for S&K, but I think they'll survive.

D and I took the LSAT on Saturday.  I think I probably did okay.  Not spectacular, but not horrible.  D doesn't know how he did.  He feels like he ran out of time on most of the sections, so he guessed to just have answers on some of the last questions in each section.  I just hope I did alright because I don't want to spend 5 hours taking that again.  D has a lot more pressure because his grades aren't very good.  So he will have to get a much better score to get accepted.

We're going to have lunch tomorrow with Huffle's mom and dad.  I am looking forward to it, but I hope it's not awkward since we have never met before.  We're taking S&K with us, so if it is awkward, I'm sure S&K can provide some comedic relief!  :-)

I dessa dagar kan vi observera hur den redan politiskt förvirrade rödgröna röran, blev lite fattigare på rödfärg. S works for a large enough law firm.  S does property and probate work.  S loves her job.

One of the Senior Partners in the firm was on holidays last week.  An elderly client died.  At least S thinks this person was a client, or maybe once, back in 1975, was a client because she can find no reference for this person in the firm's database.  Mr. Senior Partner requested from afar that someone from the firm attend the removal or funeral on his behalf.  Another Partner approached S and dispatched her promptly to the removal "because you do wills, don't you".

S snuck into the removal and joined the long queue waiting to commisserate with the elderly client's family.  S obviously looked completely lost.  She was trying to figure out who in the line of family was the most closely related to the elderly client so that she can make herself known to them when she was approached by a smartly dressed older lady who asks S if she's okay.

Sure, says S, I'm here on behalf of my boss and I was wondering to whom I should make myself known?

Oh, responds the older lady, I don't know, I'm the funeral director's mother, I'll call him over.

S breathed a sigh of relief but before she can inhale she's horrified by the sight of the funeral director's mother waving her arms about frantically to try to catch the attention of the funeral director, who is across the room.  The funeral director's mother was drawing a lot of attention.

He normally comes right over when I wink, the older lady stage whispered.

You have your sunglasses on, S replied.

Meanwhile the line had advanced and S had to do something as she was getting close to the top.  She foolishly picked this moment to introduce herself to the person she was commiserating with.

Hello, she says, I'm here on behalf of Mr. Senior Partner who is away on holidays at the moment but he requested that someone from the firm call to pass on his condolences.

The very nice lady who accepted S's little speech proceeds to announce S's presence in her loud voice to the top of the line and everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and looked at S.

The top of the line beckoned her forward ahead of all those ahead of her to hear her little speech once again.  Nobody else spoke, whispered or snickered.  An unnatural silence descends amongst those gathered, all the better to eavesdrop with, you know.  The elderly client's family are all delighted that Mr. Senior Partner sent S and how nice of him to think of them while he was on his holidays.  They all wish to shake her hand.

The funeral director has now realised that S has ground proceedings to a halt.  He scurries to her side and begins repeating her little speech to those relatives who where hard of hearing all the while escorting her to the door.  It takes about year, give or take a day.

Are you okay, he asks S at the door.

S blushes.  I mean she blushes at the least little embarrassment.  She started blushing when the funeral director's mother started her frantic arm waving.  At this stage she's a kind of red wine colour.

I'll be fine next week, she responds as she walks as fast as humanly possible down the street and far away.

She wasn't pasty white again until she had walked away a good three blocks.

Mission 9, Spy and Seek, has been released!

1. Talk to G. Put the 3 tracking devices, the yellow duck and the blue print in your inventory.
2. Go to the Ski Lodge. Pick up the Find Four pieces on the window seal, the stool under the phone and under the ladder.
3. Go to the ladder. Pick up the Find Four by the bricks, on the typewriter, on the table next to the phonograph, on the box and on the box in the corner.
4. Pick up the string on the rug.
5. Go downstairs and give the penguin playing Find Four the pieces.
6. Go to the Forest and pick up the sticks.
7. Put the sticks, the blue print and the string together to make a kite. Put the kite on the transmitter.
8. Go to the Mountain. Put the transmitter and the kite on a poll.
9. Go to the Plaza. Talk to the penguins. After the puffle blows a bubble, click on the gum stuck between the penguins. Take the bubble gum and put it on the yellow duck in your inventory.
10. Go to the Dock. Help the penguins by pulling up the brows start handle. Borrow the penguin’s air pump.
11. Put the the yellow duck on the air pump to inflate it.
12. Go to the Ice Berg. Put the yellow duck in the water.
13. Go to the Mine Shack and talk to the penguin.
14. Click and drag the wooden boards, making the metal beam drop on the left side.
15. Double click on the cart surfer that has tipper over. Weld all of the cracks.
16. Put the transmitter in the cart and click inside of the mine for it to go.
17. Answer your spy phone. Talk to G. Go to the HQ talk the Binocular 3000 from G.
18. Go to the Ski Lodge and click on the door that says Gone fishing.
19. Go to the right and look through the binoculars.
20. Go to the HQ. Talk to G.
21. Go back to Herbert’s camp. Put the spy phone on the binoculars.
22. Put the spy phone/binoculars on the third tree to the left.
23. Go to the HQ and watch Herbert and Klutzy.
24. Collect your medal and your chocolates!

Lenovo is on hand showing of its five laptops designed for Sprint's WiMAX network, including the super-sleek x300 that competes with the MacBook Air. David Critchley, worldwide segment manager with Lenovo, said the x300 was supposed to launch last spring with WiMAX inside, but Sprint's delays nixed that plan. Critchley expected that Lenovo would have the most WiMAX enabled products ready to launch today, in part because it had been preparing for WiMAX for so long, enabling it to get hardware ready in time for testing. He called Sprint's testing pipeline "narrow," and expected others to only have one or two devices ready for launch.

Wait. Testing? This is supposed to be an open network ready for any device. Now I'm worried that Sprint's approval process will keep WiMAX from becoming as popular as Wi-Fi. Isn't that how Verizon is supposedly going to keep its network from becoming entirely open? Maybe it's the difference in operating on unlicensed spectrum as Wi-Fi does, or licensed as WiMAX does, but getting as many devices as possible on the network will be key for WiMAX success.

A bottleneck caused by Sprint's testing isn't going to help grow the number of gadgets and consumer awareness rapidly. As an executive over at Motorola told me, WiMAX is likely to win out when (a) it's seamless and easy for consumers to access and (b) carriers make it easy for WiMAX devices to hop on and off their networks. An approval process makes both less likely, especially if it moves slowly.

CHICKEN CACCIATORE SOUP

1 cup dry pasta, cooked according to package directions

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 pound chicken tenderloin filets, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 teaspoon Italian seasonings

1 26-ounce jar spaghetti sauce with diced tomatoes, olive oil and garlic

2 14-ounce cans low-sodium chicken broth

1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes with oregano, basil and garlic

1 medium yellow squash, washed and sliced

1 medium zucchini, washed and sliced

Heat the oil in a large saute pan or Dutch oven. Add the chicken and Italian seasonings and saute until the chicken is almost cooked. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes, until squash is tender. Add the cooked pasta and heat through.

Makes 6 servings.

There is no way I can attempt to catch up since the last entry. I just feel the need to write something today so I'll just start hereand not worry about filling in the missing dates - one less thing I have to worry about.

S is still in the depths of major depression. I've gotten him onto Lexapro and that sort of seems to be helping a little but it may take a lot longer for it to actually kick in. He - of course - hasn't gone back to work. I'm just hoping they won't officially fire him until he's used up all his sick/personal/vacation days. That length of time is growing shorter and shorter everyday of course. To make matters even more stressful - the bank we're with is in the midst of humongous litigation and upheaval - I have no idea whether we'll still have the same trust officer or anything. I tried to have email contact with her but haven't heard back. I just tried again by email.

Today I am having a hard time with anger toward S for doing this to us. I know that isn't rational and that it isn't specifically his "fault" because we many times have no control over major depressive episodes. I - of all people - should know that and I do. But it is hard for me to see him just sit and do nothing - to my view - in an attempt to improve the situation and get better. If I hadn't been pushing him to go to the doctor - get medication - move - eat - go to bed - get dressed - he would be practically immobile 90% of the time. I suggested to him today to get out and walk in the neighborhood - that would at least get him out of the house and moving.

I've already been interrupted numerous times and they're both wanting me to do other things so I might as well give up. I want to go back to my sewing anyway. That's the only thing that seems to be enjoyable these days.

I'm so worried about so many things.

When the iPhone launched on the pokey EDGE network last year, the Apple faithful flocked to the device, but the slow network triggered a flood of complaints. The newer version launched in June (and went on sale in July) with a lower price tag and faster speeds. I imagine a mix of the two is what tempted those on the fence, and made the iPhone 3G the top-selling smartphone during the summer months, according to NPD. It was followed by the BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl and the Palm Centro.

That is mostly good news for consumers, who are making clear to carriers that network quality and ability to get online are important to them. Now that carriers recognize how much consumers value the 3G experience, expect to see more phones optimized for web surfing -- and more network upgrades.  However, the price sensitivity means that carriers aren't likely to abandon the subsidized handset model anytime soon, which gives rise to evils like two-year contracts and high termination fees. This might feel bitterly ironic to those consumers who held off on the iPhone for a year because they were waiting for a better network. So far, many find the actual AT&T network and iPhone experience disappointing.
