In the words the great italian tenor Andrea Bocelli - "Con te partirò".

Today it was announced that my ISP - Cybercity, which was bought in May 2005 by the Norwegian company Telenor - will change it's name to "Telenor". I've been a customer with Cybercity since the ISDN days and got my first ADSL connection with them back in '99 (as far as I remember). Over the past year I've had a couple of fall-outs with them because of their service (or lack thereof). First of all - I wasn't getting the bandwidth I was paying for and my connection was extremely unstable. Then they downgraded the connection to make the performance better, which helped some - but I didn't get a price cut?! Then after a year I found out that Cybercity changed their price for the product I had originally ordered, but they never adjusted my price accordingly. Pretty lame customer support if you ask me.

As I'm hosting my own web- and mailserver my upload speed is pretty important, but it turns out that Cybercity's products (and prices) for smaller companies are very unattractive in comparison to their consumer/home offers.

I'm sorry guys - I loved being a Cybercity customer for a lot of years but this just goes to show that you've sold out on your original company philosophy.

So I've finally decided to jump ship and find myself a new ISP with better upload speeds. Suggestions, anyone?

Throughout my time on the Internet, I have had trouble finding good ways to find the music I want to

Throughout my time on the Internet, I have had trouble finding good ways to find the music I want to hear. Specifically, not so common albums from not so common bands. In the last 5 years, I've got it down. I can find almost any album and get it in less than a day. My first choice is always to purchase it from a store, however living in a small town, it can sometimes be very difficult to find rare albums. In fact, the closest record store is a place called Headstone Records, which is the one and only place to get New Release Vinyls. Other than that, music stores are impossible to find.
So, here it is.

1. My personal favorite is a private music torrent tracker called Waffles. It is by far, and without question the best music tracker I've come across, after the unfortunate demise of OiNK.me.uk. Because of this, it is near impossible to get an invites. If you would like one, I currently have a few, and can possibly "hook you up." However, let me warn you, it is not a leecher friendly place. Keeping a decent ratio is not as easy as just leaving your torrenting application open. In fact, I have had to upload 5 albums just to stay at a 1.00 ratio.
Waffles
Slyck's BitTorrent Guide

2. The second choice is to scour public FTP servers. Search Warez sites like Wtalk, Needz.org, and the like to find nice ones. If your target album is a more well-known artist, you can probably find it on one of the FTP servers listed here.
Filesearch.ru Top 100 FTP servers

3. Another possible choice is to search on Warez forums. Often, they have "scene" releases of albums. Wtalk has a fantastic audio library. The downside is that most of these albums are hosted on Rapidshare.com, and without a premium account, this can be a hassle.

4. My final choice is to use your ISP's newsgroups. This is by far the fastest, but unless you are willing to pay for bandwith, you cannot get more than a few gigs a month. Adelphia SoCal and Time Warner both offer 1 gigabyte per month. Slyck.com has a great tutorial for getting started with newsgroups. On Adelphia's servers, most underground albums were in alt.bin.music, but its likely there were other places that I never found. Recently, Time Warner removed their newsgroup servers, and now require a monthly fee. I have BT, so I had to turn them down.
Slyck's Newsgroup Guide

Well, that's my final list. I have found every album I have ever honestly wanted from these places. Remember to support the artist if you like the CD. I'm personally a big opponent of DRM and business practices of the record companies. In my anti-authoritative rage, I have found that many bands have a website with a Paypal "Donate Now" button. This is a fantastic way to skip the middle-man and go straight to the artist.

Also, you may have noticed that I didn't list Kazaa or Limewire. I have found that P2P networks are among the most dangerous places on the Internet. You can find some unusual things there, and it has the highest probability of downloading a dangerous file, and it is where many of the RIAA cases you hear about on the news begin. I'm not saying that if you use it, you will get a virus or be sued, but why take the risk in the first place? If you must use P2P, I recommend Overnet/Edonkey2000, as I appreciate the ed2k and overnet linking system, as well as the file download verification with my unusual personality as a computer hypochondriac who visits irreputable sites on many occasions (If you catch my drift). But heed my warning, avoid P2P networks if at all possible.

I'll probably go into more depth with these in the future.

I am a Charter Communications Cable customer and I have to say for the most part I’ve always been very happy with their service, but like many I received the news today that they will be giving me an ‘enhanced experience’ while I am using the services I pay for. Essentially they will be spying on the packets of data going to my machine and injecting code into the pages giving me targeted adds accordingly which is pretty much the same principle as the way malicious code works I would imagine.

This is far from acceptable and I will be looking for alternative services should this continue, they should not be spying on their customers and forcing adverts on them based on that information that they data mine. Now I know what you are thinking...what’s the big deal we get targeted adds all the time, that is true. But having your ISP change web data from what the web site owner intended you to get?...stop and think about it for a little while and you’ll start to realize that it’s essentially giving you the content they want you to have rather than perhaps what you went looking for.

...maybe they’ll filter this post as it gets sent thru their system to my blog, lets see how well Charter does in the financial quarters once more start to hear about this and start thinking about all those over ISP companies always eager to get thru your door and sell you on their services instead.

You can read more information here

and here

Perhaps use of an opendns or other alternative free dns service might help prevent this from working, although with the packets being inspected it is hard to know when and where the code injection for the adverts will take place.

First of all, greetings everyone, I am a virgin blogger so bare with me....!

Now the time has come for me to invest in a USB dongle so I can be part of the mobile broadband world .....ok so I may be well behind the times but I am trying to catch up! The trouble is which network do I go with?

After what seems like hours of searching through the options I really don't know which one to go for. From what i can see, Vodafone offers the highest speed possibilities, with up to 7.2Mb. I have read all the reviews I could find (there are not many about.... maybe this needs to be addressed? ), and have to ask myself, what is more important? speed, download limit or quality/reliability of service? . From what I have learnt, Vodafone comes out top in terms of quality, reliability and speed, but 3, TMobile, 02 and Orange all appear to have overall good feedback too.

I am not the best when it comes to decision making, so without easy access to reviews from NON BIASED customers, I find myself in a bit of a black hole... so folks...comments/ reviews are most welcome!

Psh, damn Aussie services have to be so frickin' systematic. I went without internet for the last freakin two weeks cuz of their idiocy. To sum it up, my phone service contract ended so they cut, and my ISP saw that my phone was cut so they cut the net too, but this was all fine and dandy, since I wanted to switch ISPs anyway. But when I got mah phone reconnected (like three frickin' days later) and signed up for a new service, they wouldn't freakin let us (me and mah flatmate, if that's what you wanna call him) sign up cuz the addresses were different. So we were like wtf and called up the phone provider (Telstra, as you might have guessed) and it turns out they got our address (the suburb) wrong for some screwed up reason. So we called the ISP and told them the deal, but noooooo, they can't give us internet if the addresses were different. All of the aforementioned took some four days mind you. So we had to sign up for internet again with the screwed up address from the phone provider. So we waited 7 (working) days for our internet to get activated. So basically, we were screwed. I felt like such a hick without interent...

Alright, enough about Aussie services and their stupidity. I dled this little doujin today, and thort this part was funny as hell, mebbe even for those who don't know wtf Code Geass is:

Anyway, the doujin is Code Geachu, written by whoever did Nano Strikers, which was also as funny as hell, and scanlated by J-Sis. Search for it on MangaUpdates.

Uh, right, philosophical ramblings. I'm feeling lazy today so I'll leave you with a quote. If you want more wiki Karl Marx or sumthing.

True fate is achieved by defying a predetermined destiny.

Yes, this was totally influenced by superb RPGs such as Riviera Yakushoku no Chi (the promised land) and Odin Sphere, both of which I recommend.

A company called Procera today announced the availability of a 12u rack system that can perform deep

A company called Procera today announced the availability of a 12u rack system that can perform deep packet inspection on 80Gbps of data in real time with 96% accuracy. In a world where Internet bandwidth increases daily, ISPs are embracing technologies such as DPI as they potentially offer an answer to this and other challenges the ISPs face such as Copyright and Intellectual property protection.

But what is deep packet inspection? It a process that allows for the identification and characterisation of packets (internet traffic) by content and purpose. It can distinguish between innocuous HTTP, FTP, VoIP and slightly less liked high bandwidth traffic like Bittorrent (and other P2P protocols) as well as streaming. Armed with this information, ISPs or Internet backbones could then opt to throttle bandwidth to services or users in real time based on time of the day, the services they are using or simply how much they are paying.

Whilst throttling high bandwidth services such as file sharing and movie streaming might seem like a good idea, this brings us to the idea of net neutrality. Net neutrality is a principle in which ISPs and Top Tier providers can opt to slow or block specific services or websites based on their bandwidth usage or any criterion of their choosing. Take for example Skype, if an ISP decided Skype was taking up too much bandwidth, or worse, was competing with their telephony services with its VoIP serice, it could opt to slow the traffic an end user (you or I) has with Skype's service. This could restrict the application or usability of Skype to a point where it might no longer be functionally or financially viable. The ISP or provider could then ask Skype to pay a premium for it's bandwidth to be restored. It works the other way as well, lets say there was another VoIP company who decided it wanted to have the fastest bandwidth / lowest latency (compared to other VoIP providers) to an ISP's users, it could pay the ISP to prioritise it's packets over others. As you can see the scales of services / content on the Internet, once promoted as a source for free and equal speech and services, becomes tipped in the favour of corporations stifling both creativity and innovation.

Throttling is not the answer to the long term (or even short term) bandwidth explosion the Internet has seen in recent years (thank you youtube :P ) and at $800,000 per machine, I can't help wondering if the money would be better spent upgrading existing capacities.

UPDATE: I just read another related article which touched on something I had not considered. Privacy. Whilst most information about a packet can be gleaned from the routing header, there is nothing to stop this technology literally parsing Gbps of traffic for any (and all) information at all which could be store for later examination. The only limitation would be hard drive space, 80Gbps is 10Gb of data every second which would fill up a Petabyte (Pb) of storage every 28 hours. The only limit would be the computational power and storage available to the ISP/backbone operator.

Procera Networks will announce today a new standard in deep packet inspection (DPI) gear: an 80Gbps

Procera Networks will announce today a new standard in deep packet inspection (DPI) gear: an 80Gbps monster called the PacketLogic PL10000 that is targeted at tier-1 network operators. At up to $800,000 a unit, these aren't cheap, but when you want to throttle, inspect, and shape traffic in real-time on a major network, this is now the fastest thing on the market (and by a large margin).

Procera's appliances all run the same software, so the difference between them is in the interfaces and the number of racks the units take up. The PL10000, the company's top-of-the-line offering and provides 5 10Gbps channels and 9 1Gbps channels in a 12 rack unit. It can handle 80Gbps of total speed, but most ISPs will want to keep an eye on traffic moving in both directions, bringing this down to 40Gbps each way. (link)

Banyak orang mencari ISP bagus tapi murah...

Tapi sayangnya, pelayanan Fastnet kurang memuaskan.

Yah, bukan berarti saya mempromosikan speedy lho... Jadi apa ISP pilihan anda?

Any one have any doubts, that the Canadian new conservative government is pretentious, inadequate, j

Any one have any doubts, that the Canadian new conservative government is pretentious, inadequate, just as bad as the predecessors they said they had wanted to replace too in fact..

Well I have no doubts at all as to how really bad , lying they are now and that is still all really unacceptable too. There is a clearly still an unacceptable noticeable lack of good leadership today to guide All of the CANADIANS during the troublesome times in Canada today. The question -- and it deserves to be shouted -- is: 'Where is and was the government?" "Don't people have the right to hear from their elected officials?" regularly and not just before an election. It seems our federal, provincial leaders are too often still mainly looking after themselves, their friends once elected.. and they do still too often lie to get elected, and do lie even after they are elected. And how does your elected representative deal with your concerns now? Ignore you, schedule another golf game for herself or himself? make another pretentious statement? divert the issue to the future or what? It is always the duty of every Member of Parliament, elected Legislative Members also to represent their local constituents, as well as the good welfare of all Canadians, and to also insure the proper application of all of the laws locally and nationally too. Being self centered only is also never acceptable. I have found that the best way to deal with an elected representative is to see how they do personally respond to my personal email, letter for in reality how they generally do treat me is also how they do treat generally all others.. I amongst many other persons too am rightfully getting rightfully now tired of the too often also incompetent, useless, pretentious, poor, lying elected, or hired Ministers and with any of their poor civil and public servants, colleagues, subordinates now as well. I no longer quietly accept even their inadequate replies to my correspondences and thus their wrong abuses, their lies, pretentious services now as well especially towards me now too. I rightfully do let everyone know what they are really like based on my own personal experiences so we can all deal with positively it too. Anyone abusing even me is also a serious concern for the governments and I also do make sure of it too. I too have clearly learned that if the wicked, evil, immoral persons, even these false abusers of me do not next now feel real personal negative repercussions they will have no reasons to even still stop their own immoral abuse of me, my human and legal rights and those of any other persons now too in Canada. You and I do have human rights you know even in Canada, and I do request the governments to do their rightful duties and deal specifically with all of this too. And if any of them they are not going to do this all properly they all should clearly know by now that I will rightfully complain in writing again and again to all too till they do, or till they get kicked out, replaced.. and then I will also deal with their eventual replacements.. and I have dealt with many of them the last 15 years too. Eventually once exposed the bad guys even in politics, in the civil and public services, churches too they do get removed, replaced. I do rightfully want valid actions, results rightfully in reponse to my letters too and not cause I want any attention. Writing a letter to an elected representative measuring their actual responses to my letters is one of the two best ways to actually see what they the Politicians are really like now , in reality. By the way I have often noted that some of the most indifferent politicians were also the alcoholic ones, for all they care about is their next drink it seems..The next best way to measure a Politician's personal, real effectiveness is to go to their office.. but sadly in 100 percent of the cases the response was really not any better there now as well. They really do not change if you write or visit them.. for they show you in both cases who they really are. I also do not put up rightfully with any of the bad responses but I do next expose it to all so we can all rightfully deal with it. And if any of them they are not going to pay to my issues properly they all should clearly know by now that I will rightfully complain in writing again and again to all too till they do, or till they get kicked out, replaced.. and then I will also deal with their eventual replacements.. as I have been doing the last 15 years.. this is now the mostly useless fourth federal solicitor general I write too... two had resigned in office during that time too. I have dealt with many elected officals the last 15 years too. Eventually once exposed the bad guys even in politics, in the civil and public services, churches too and they do get removed, replaced. To deprive another of the intangible right of honest services." is an immoral, illegal act in as deemed so by the courts in the US now and it also applies to any of our Members of Canada's parliament, Members of the provincial governments too

I have talked a number of times about how important it is to protect your computer from viruses and other malicious threats. Of course, most computers come with something installed, but it is vitally important that you make sure that whatever you have is updated at least weekly if not daily. Most antivirus and spyware programs can be set to update automatically and this is the best way to go. If you use a free program that cannot be set to update automatically, then it is important that you go it manually.

Many Internet Service Providers (ISP) provide some security software free and you should certainly take advantage of this. I like to check the online version of PC Magazine for their recommendations. Here are a couple of interesting articles to check out from them.

Eleven Ways to BodyGuard Your PC

Nine Ways to Wipe Out Spyware

I also get a couple of RSS feeds from PC Magazine which often have interesting info. CNet is another good source for information about technology stuff in general. Download.com also is a great source for software.

Do you have a favorite "trusted" source for software? Why don't you share with us?

Until next time!

My internet was shut off yesterday and according to my ISP it's because I had my plan scheduled for a change to Fios come next Wednesday. They called this a "Migration phase", so I asked "So I can't go online now because my fucking internet is migrating?" they replied "yes". Of course I knew they were going to shut it off but to my understanding when all the paper work was filled out I was told it it wouldn't be turned off till the same day. Sounds more logical than the Thursday before hand. In case your wondering or have forgotten I have Verizon. It's a "Family" decision not mine so don't bust my balls. We were planning on switching to Comcast but every time we called we got someone who didn't speak english and didn't know what plans were available. How can you pay CSR's to sit around and not have information for the people who are actually giving you business? Fucking shit heads.

Anyway, I've been trying to bum off a neighbors' unprotected wireless connection but that doesn't work for more than a few minutes do to local interference. Right now I'm at work so I obliviously have internet. I even decided to do some Gmod posings this morning to illustrate this situation.

I'm not as good as Dark at posing but as you can see the ISP is so evil it has no model but you can see all the knives in holds ready to stab you in the back.

If that doesn't kill you they have a hired Heavy ready to throw you through a window.

I also made a few into motivators to add to the Rave.

When I signed in to my e-mail account this morning, I was shocked to see a spam message in my inbox.

When I signed in to my e-mail account this morning, I was shocked to see a spam message in my inbox. Of course, spam messages are a part of life in the online world and a message or two promising "health benefits" or advertising a "completely new technology" and so on would not come as a surprise to anyone.

Why should the poor dog be shot? I would prefer to gun down the spammers!

I was surprised because the e-mail account that I had accessed was the one I have with my Internet Service Provider(ISP). I do not know what filter they use, but my inbox has been completely free of spam. Till now, that is. A determined spammer who wanted me to take a look at his "data recovery software" managed to get through the spam filter of my ISP. :-(

I have had bad experiences with spam over the years. My first e-mail account had to be abandoned because the inbox turned into a spam box. A fate shared by many of my other e-mail accounts. Infact I cannot remember how many accounts I created as I keep abandoning them because of the notorious spammers. :-x

However, many popular free e-mail providers seem to use a pretty effective spam filter these days. And I don't know about my fellow bloggers, but I think the folks at WordPress seem to have put an end to the spam menace when they made those recent changes. :-D

I hope I have not spoken too soon. :-|

TelstraClear today launched www.Clearnet.co.nz, "a new online destination for digital content", which it's touting with the objective of showcasing and selling broadband.

Clearnet.co.nz includes news, sport, video and weather, with an initial focus on gaming, including the site’s own gaming servers, reviews and features such as zero rated gaming. Why the push on gaming? The New Zealand gaming industry is worth more than $100m per year in New Zealand, according to TelstraClear.

Exclusive content for the Clearnet site comes from partnerships with companies such as Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. News and editorial content will be delivered via partnerships with 3 News, New Zealand Press Association, IGN.com and HB Media.

TelstraClear is the second largest ISP in New Zealand, with around 300,000 internet customers, which should drive initial traffic to the site.

Bell has often itself found a an excuse for not performing a specific job assigned to them under the contract agreement but fooled few in the process now too as to how really immoral Bell was, is and that includes their false capping, terminations of the customers unlimited downloads now too..

"Top 10 Reasons to Avoid Breaching a Contract
10. YOUR BUSINESS REPUTATION. You could damage your reputation in the business community.
9. YOUR BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS. You could sever your business relationship with the other party.
8. LAWSUITS. You could be sued.
7. TIME AWAY FROM YOUR BUSINESS. If sued, you could be forced to spend valuable time away from your business in order to respond to discovery requests, attend depositions, and litigate the matter in court.
6. LEGAL FEES. You could incur significant legal fees.
5. SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE. Depending on the nature of the contract, you could be ordered by the court to perform your obligations under the contract.
4. CONTEMPT. If you don't obey the court's order, you could be held in contempt, fined, and/or imprisoned.
3. COMPENSATORY AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. You could be forced to pay money damages to the non breaching party, in an amount that puts that party in as good a position as it would have been in were it not for the breach.
2. PUNITIVE DAMAGES. You could be ordered to pay punitive damages, which are not limited by the amount of the other party's losses and can be very significant.
1. YOU LOSE ALL THE WAY AROUND. You could end up spending much more time, money, and mental and physical energy resolving the breach than you would have spent performing your obligations under the contract."

Gak usah keluar rumah tuk cari warnet

Kekurangan:

Koneksi terkadang luaambaat sekali, buka 2-3 situs udah lelet

Koneksi gak stabil, palagi pada jam sibuk

Kalo ada telpon masuk, koneksi langsung putus

Download imel seing dobel2 kalo koneksi sering putus

Saran:

In Soviet Russia, Product Endorses You!: A piece of collateral for a Cambodian ISP, who seem to have used my image without permission. Obviously this misuse of my rights-managed personal photography is both upsetting and puts into jeopardy my business relationship with MicronesiaWebCom, the Federated States of Micronesia’s No.1 and only ISP.

Ah, the troubles and travails of being a pretty boy :P
