Well, it is a fact that Connor Paolo (aka Eric van der Woodsen of Gossip Girl) is a student at NYU.  At least that's what I hear.  J saw Connor outside of the Third Ave North dorms today at approximately 2:20 PM, where Connor has been rumored to live in (11th floor of the East Tower, for those of you looking for specifics) for the past 2 weeks.  Unfortunately, I can't verify this fact for you due to the fact that I was somewhere else at 2:20 PM today, however the news was exciting enough to post it here for all of you to read, if you hadn't already.

As for what I was doing at 2:20 PM today, I was at the Met once again.  My dreadful experience at the ICP yesterday ended up being a positive, as I found a piece of art that exceeded what I had wanted to write about at the ICP.  The name of the piece is Graziella and it was painted by Jules-Joseph Lefebvre.  I had seen it previously and been awed by the beauty of it, and this time was no different.  I'm happy that I was able to actually do something productive from viewing this gorgeous piece of art.

The rest of my day has been spent doing homework.  I noticed that was the trend today among most of the students.  I saw at least 100 students on their laptops typing a paper today in random places around the city.  It was actually mildly amusing how stressed they all seemed.  Time management has yet to be established here.

Oh, and for those of you who missed it, the Main Course at Third North today was delicious!  It was Cuban food and it made me happy.  Well, it wasn't exactly Cuban persay, but it's a dish that my grandmother makes regularly, so I consider it Cuban.  LOL.  Anyway, there were fried plaintains!  Yummy!  Yum! Yum!

Well, gotta sleep.  I've got a morning class.  TTFN.

WTF.  Don't these people know that the majority of the people who watch the show are 14-28 years old?   The kids that are probably the most into the show are in college, which means they  may have erratic schedules that do not let them stay glued to the tv.

The target audience for this show is young, high tech, and very comfortable with the internet. The audience puts a premium on flexibility.

Fact:  Almost no fortune 500 company has lasted more than 100 years. Why? Because institutions adapt too slowly to market changes.  CWT not posting its shows online is an example of an institution that has not adapted to its new market realities.

My guess: Ratings will go down this year or next. Keeping up with the constant plot twists will become difficult, especially if you only get one chance to watch the show since the channel refuses to upload the videos.

I'm so mad.

JH was walking back to his Third North residence (rumored residence of Connor) carrying a bag of trader joe's grocery when his heart nearly jumped out of his throat. One could say that Connor was in full disguise; he was wearing a plaid shirt with plain jeans, retractable headphones and a beat up (yes beat up) Eastsport backpack. JH followed Connor for a block and was trying to take a picture with his BB, but sadly Connor didn't turn his head and JH wasn't up for an adventure with eight pounds of grocery so he retreated. JH wasn't sure at first if it was actually Connor due to the hair high light difference from the first season (JH has yet to finish the first season), but I am now confirmed after a clip of the new episode on youtube.

note: Connor was also holding a Virgin records bag with a poster sticking out at the time.

Das que acompanho eis os comentários:

Gossip Girl – Retrata a vida dos jovens da elite nova-iorquina sob o prisma de uma blogueira (fofoqueira). Uma espécie de Malhação de luxo com tramas mais complexas. Você começa a assistir despretensiosamente e acaba se envolvendo com a estória e, conseqüentemente, acompanhando a todos os outros episódios.

Prison Break – Uma das séries mais densas do cardápio. Narra a epopéia dos irmãos Michael Scofield e Lincoln Burrows na tentativa fugirem das armadilhas que o Estado americano coloca em seus caminhos e escaparem do presídio de segurança máxima. Um dos melhores roteiros que já acompanhei, repleto de mínimos detalhes que contribuem para entusiasmantes cenas de ação e suspense. Contudo, a série perdeu um pouco do fôlego após as duas primeiras temporadas, por conta do enredo que reúne apenas fugitivos, policia e conspirações, o que o torna meio restrito.

One Tree Hil – Essa sim é a Malhação americana. Dramalhão mexicano de marca maior. Serve como ultima opção de entretenimento.

House – Envolvente e impactante. A estória do dr. e milagreiro House, interpretado pelo brilhante ator britânico Hugh Laurie, que já faturou diversos Globos de Ouro e Emmys por encarnar o polêmico medico de conduta ética duvidosa, é intrigante do inicio ao fim. As bem amarradíssimas tramas nos prende de forma inexplicável.

Smallville – Nunca fui fã do Super Homem, entretanto, essa série me fisgou de tal maneira que beirei o fanatismo. Infelizmente, ao chegar a sua oitava temporada, as aventuras do homem de aço durante a juventude é o retrato fiel de uma série que já deveria ter posto um fim em sua trajetória. Receio que essa seja uma temporada catastrófica, a derradeira para a derrocada. A sétima se arrastou e, aos trancos e barrancos, conseguiu finalizar com alguma emoção. Mas, a que esta próxima de iniciar tem tudo para ser um verdadeiro fiasco, principalmente pela saída dos roteiristas titulares e da debandada de dois dos principais personagens da trama: Kristin Kreuk – a Lana, e Michael Rosenbaum – o Lex. Qual o propósito de acompanhar Smallville se fomos logrados da sensação de torcida para o final feliz entre Clark e Lana e, por conseqüência, o embate do Super Man com o vilão Lex Luthor?

How I Met Your Mother - Comédia marota e sagaz. Para os saudosistas de Friends, as confusões de Ted, que tenta contar aos filhos como conheceu a mãe deles, é um ótimo aperitivo, além de abordar a temática de amigos juntos, em uma casa especifica, em um bar em comum...

Two and a Half Men – Comédia de maior sucesso entre os norte-americanos. Particularmente, prefiro outras, mas, essa também é uma boa pedida quando as opções para o divertimento estiverem um tanto restritas.

Heroes – Foi interrompida abruptamente pela greve dos roteiristas hollywoodianos. Em principio, isso poderia significar um aspecto negativo, mas, para Heroes, não foi. A segunda temporada estava deprimente. Conseguiram descaracterizar e tornar chato o Peter Petrelli e, ademais, acrescentaram novos personagens de forma forçada, sem contextualizá-los com a trama. Enfim, a terceira temporada de Heroes é uma chance única para uma das séries de maior sucesso nos últimos tempos dar a volta por cima.

Simpsons – Faço parte do grupo e engrosso o discurso dos que defendem a vitaliciedade dessa fantástica série. Simpsons para todo o sempre.

American Dad e Family Guy – Cópias fajutas e de mau gosto dos Simpsons. Mas apresentam boas sacadas do estilo de vida americano e nos proporcionam algumas boas risadas.

Desperate Housewives – Uma das minhas favoritas. Envolvente, intrigante, impactante e emocionante. Em uma série, extraordinários roteiristas conseguem reunir comédia, suspense, drama e romance com uma genial sutileza. E, claro, não posso deixar de exaltar os excepcionais trabalhos de Teri Hatcher (a amorosa e maluca Susan Meyer), Felicity Huffman (a incrível mãe de cinco filhos Lynette Scavo), Marcia Cross (interpreta com maestria a purista, perfeccionista e inteligente Bree Van De Camp) e Eva Longoria (a sensual e sagaz latina Gabriele Soliz). A cada temporada a série se renova e nos presenteia com uma estória mais incrível que a outra.

Cold Case – Roteiro bem amarrado. Nos reserva ótimas estórias de suspense, e, de quebra, nos contempla com uma seleta trilha sonora.

Californication - De todas listadas acima, sem duvida alguma, a mais inovadora. David Duchovny dá um show na pele do sedutor, promíscuo e perspicaz escritor Hank Moody, que é apaixonado pela ex-mulher e faz de tudo para não decepcionar a filha adolescente. Série para adultos, com fortes cenas de erotismo. Bastante envolvente e engraçada.

Chuck – Excelente série de comédia, suspense e, até mesmo, ficção cientifica. As digressões do carismático Zachary Levi, como o nerd que tem em sua cabeça todas as informações confidencias da SIA, Chuck Bartowski, são simplesmente encantadoras e interessantes. Com personagens marcantes e únicos, é garantia de diversão e de fidelidade aos demais episódios.

Everybody Hates Chris – Atualmente, em minha opinião, a melhor série de comédia. De forma inteligente e absolutamente descontraída, a atração narra a injusta e recheada de confusões juventude de Chris Rock no Brooklyn, em Nova York, em meados da década de 80. Os personagens que compõem a família do garoto dão um show à parte, sobretudo Tichina Arnold, que interpreta a mãe.

Samantha Who? – Boa comédia. Vale mais pela ótima interpretação de Christina Applegate, como a desmemoriada “Sam”.

30 Rock – Muito boa comédia. Nos oferece um humor bastante refinado que requer certa bagagem histórica e conhecimento do noticiário referente aos EUA, como terrorismo e crises econômicas. Interpretações irretocáveis de todos os atores, principalmente de Tina Fey, de Alec Baldwin e de Tracy Jordan .

O calendário acima não mostra duas importantes séries: Greek, que há duas semanas teve a estréia de sua segunda temporada – envolve comédia e lições de moral, ambientada nas tão conhecidas fraternidades das universidades americanas; e Nip Tuck, que tem a estréia de sua sexta temporada ainda indefinida – série bastante intensa, com estórias inovadoras, polêmicas e, por vezes, bizarras; ainda assim, é uma das minhas prediletas; a exemplo de Californication, busca ilustrar a contemporaneidade de roteiros que derrubam paradigmas da conservadora TV americana.

its been an eventful weekend... a great end to a horrid week...

kbox, gossip girl, tea.... it made my worries go away. and somehow, admid all the unhappiness, i still feel that i'm being loved. =)

i'm so happy Gossip Girl is back!!! I managed to catch Epi 1 of season 2... after season 1 ended in such a cliff hanger... i find season 2 moving a little too fast... but i'm excited to see what's up in epi 2!!!

and speaking of which, i'm into the Gossip Girl craze again... and i just love Blake Lively! She's just so pretty.... i can't wait to watch her movie- the sisterhood of the travelling pants 2!!!!

The dresses that Blake Lively and Leighton Meester wore to the White party were gorgeous,

I especially love the Grecian style dress that Blake Lively wore! A few months ago I did read in a trend forecast somewhere that Grecian dresses were coming into style but never actually saw anyone getting the right 'look' till Blake Lively! I love how she finished her look with the double hair-band and the oversized white hand bangle. I searched online to find similar dresses on a few of my favorite stores but came up with nothing so far.

In this same episode, Leighton Meester wore a really cute floral summer dress (it reminds me a little of the Lilly Pulitzer look and style but with a younger and more chic style). Have a look,

Para l@s aficionados a las series, aquí están sus horarios... para los que pueden verlo por cable o para los que como yo se las pueden descargar al día siguiente:

Del lunes yo destacaría Gossip Girl que por lo que he leído tiene más bombo y platillo generado por su excelente campaña publicitaria que audiencia real en EEUU... vamos la típica serie de la que todo el mundo habla pero no mucha gente ve, una lástima porque a mi me parece realmente entretenida, claro que, americanos...

Los martes nos traen House y 902190, el spin-off de Sensación de vivir, es decir, la antigua serie traída a la época actual, yo le daré una oportunidad, aunque bueno, las versiones no suelen ser nunca tan buenas como la original.

Los miércoles me quedo con Sexy Money, aunque apenas halla visto un par de capítulos me pareció interesante y el estreno de la primer temporada de  Lipstick jungle sin duda pienso verlo, la serie está basada en el libro de 'Mujeres en Manhattan' el cual me he leído no hace mucho y es realmente divertido, así que espero que la serie le haga honor. Por cierto, la escritora es la misma que la de 'Sexo en Nueva York'.

Los jueves, reconozco que únicamente veo esporádicamente la de Betty y algún capítulo de CSI Miami pero vamos, el resto son ampliamente conocidas, lo que si que no entiendo es como siguen manteniendo The Office, vi medio capítulo y lo tuve que dejar al final, dios, vergüenza ajena me dio.

Los viernes... casi que paso. Al fin y al cabo, es viernes.

Y por último los domingo, la programación de la NBC no sé porque me da que por aquí en España tenemos algo parecido ;)  De la noche de los domingos me quedo sin duda con un clásico, Los Simpson.

Patrick (Patrickblog) has become a finalist in The Edge Next Top Friend competition and has been flown to Auckland where he will live in a house with nine other strangers and compete for prizes as well as $10 000! He will have to get the most friends on social networking sites within the time period. The contestant with the most friends wins the money! Congratulations Patrick, from GG and all my GGIs, and good luck with the competition. We'll be rooting for you.

Just when you thought the TDL saga had come to a close, Dannie (ThatEnglishGirl111) and Tenani (nanisnap) go and do this. Rumours have been flying since this video was posted on the nanisnap channel, with many in the community noting that the relationship between them seems to be intensifying, instead of cooling down as had been expected. I, for one, thought Dannie would have been through with love after Levi (corporalcadet) left her confused and hurt, but it will be interesting to see what happens to this reignited love triangle.

Word on the street is also rife that Ryan (TheNewZealandishBrit) comes from a very very weathly family. GGIs on the ground in Hamilton have reported seeing him being dropped off at the bus stop in his dad's Hummer. My informants also report that he pays for everything with an American Express card, connected directly to his parent's credit accounts. Could we have a NZYT rich kid? Perhaps he should be helping out with getting people to the gathering? Stay tuned for more as we hear it.

GGIs are reporting that Alex (AlexTheOwl) is currently publicly denying that he and Joe (TheJoeFrom1993) are or were ever in a relationship. He claims that they never went out and it was only a joke. This is quite the backtrack as everyone already knew they were together. It seems not all is well in the relationship anyway, with Alex being into a few too many dodgy things than Joe would be comfortable with.

Taylor (ThatDoorGuyy) has been blamed as the mastermind behind the infiltration of FiveAwesomeKiwis by almost everyone who wrote in about this issue. It seems Taylor obtained the password and then blocked Jayson (justanotherkiwi) and Ben (BattleSoup), among other notable YouTubers, from commenting on the channel. He did, however, give the password to Patrick after much pestering, but as Patrick was trying to bring the channel back under his control, YTHQ suspended the account. The original cast are currently negotiating with YTHQ to get the account reopened.

Josh (skishua) is using Jess (Jessums31) to gain a visa, and eventually citizenship to New Zealand. GGI reports from inside numerous skype calls say that Josh proposed the idea to Jess, knowing of her feelings about him. Reports say Josh's justification for moving to New Zealand is to escape the CIA assassins after him after he had a secret love affair with Sarah Palin. Their child was a three legged, half moose hockey player with a tattoo of Levi on it's middle finger.

Title: The Wild Brunch

Summary: There's nothing Gossip Girl likes more than a good cat fight! It's the day right after the Kiss on The Lips party and Serena receives a cold reception from her former best friend Blair. Blair reveals that she knows that Serena and Nate slept together, before Serena mysteriously went to boarding school. Then Serena decides to take Dan to Chuck's fundraiser brunch at The Palace. Meanwhile Jenny asks Blair for advice, and Blair realizes that she maybe gains something by allowing Jenny into her inner circle.

My Thoughts: Wow, wow, wow. Can you say spicy? I laughed so hard when I saw what happened to Dan... that must of hurt getting hit by a cab. But hey, still oh so funny. Dan is so cute when he went to Serena's house (or hotel, rather) to try to get his second chance. I was like, "go Dan, you get your girl!" Dan just has this witty, funny remarks thing to him. For example when he said to Nate, "well I'm in the neighborhood too until I come up with a better excuse". He got his second chance and I was so sad that it ruined catastrophically. Jenny seems to be inching more and more into the in-crowd but as the summary says, she's just a pawn for Blair to use her against Serena. Nate is just trying to get Serena's attention so bad... you can tell he'd dump Blair for her any second if she asked. I'm glad to see Chuck with a black eye at the brunch. It was so coincidental as to why Dan and Serena went to the brunch together. Dan vs. Chuck and Serena vs. Blair... oh so much fun. It was interesting when all five of them were in a circle together talking and fighting. I really want Serena and Dan together and was disappointed that the romance dissipated so quickly (although I am like 100% sure it will be back). Blair is getting more and more annoying... can't she tell Nate doesn't have uber-crazy feelings about her. I mean, I think I would leave a guy when he mentioned he slept with my best friend, but she decides to keep him. And she still wants to have sex with him like right now. I am starting to get in the hang of what this show has to offer and am assured I will post again about it.

Title: The Pilot

Summary: Filmed entirely in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, "Gossip Girl" revolves around the privileged prep school teens on Manhattan's Upper East side and the anonymous blogger, Gossip Girl, who provides them with the latest rumors about their highly exclusive inner circle. In the series premiere, Gossip Girl is busy spreading the news that "it girl" Serena van der Woodsen has returned to Manhattan after a mysterious and self-imposed exile to boarding school. Serena's best friend, Blair Waldorf, has conflicted feelings about her friend's return since she has enjoyed being the Queen Bee during Serena's absence and might not be ready to relinquish her new position on the social ladder, not to mention the fact that she has always suspected there may be unspoken feelings between Serena and her longtime boyfriend, Nate.

My Thoughts: I liked this episode a lot. It wasn't the type of episode that tries so hard to explain all the characters at once. I know everyone now. I love Serena, she's caring even though she's rich. I can't stand Blair very much. She's kind of cold... even though I understand why, having your "BFF" sleep with your boyfriend must suck. Nate is good-looking and I understand his thoughts when he asks Chuck about then becoming like their parents in the near future. Their parents are a little selfish, I mean your dad asking you to stay with your girlfriend even though you want to break up because you want a deal with her mom is just heartbreaking. What role models to have as parents. I'm really curious about who Gossip Girl is. It can't be Serena, that's too predictable. It's probably Dan... haha. I loved Dan. Him and Serena just have to be together. He's so caring for his sister Jenny, protecting her like he did. Chuck is a piece of scum. I wanted to smack him across the head when he was trying to take advantage of freshman Jenny (and I'm so glad Dan did it for me). He just doesn't even care and does what he pleases but I know one day someone is going to teach him. I started watching this show when it first came on TV last year and stopped watching because I just forgot to watch and then I just couldn't catch up with the episodes so I forgot about it. However, I've found a source online to watch it on and let's just say the website will be seeing a lot of me from now on.

She seems to outshine (well, to me) most of her co-stars on the hit tv show (and one of my favorites), Gossip Girl (no homo -- LOL!) I absolutely love her fashion sense and she looks absolutely stunning in her new magazine profile. She's one of my style icons as well as fashion guides.
