I'm finishing up, and starting projects left and right lately. I have 3 patterns that I'm submitting for a Twilight knit/crochet inspired book. One is 1/2 done and has been/is being test knitted as we speak and I LURVE what my testers are turning out! Woot!!

The other 2 are crochet projects, I'm working up one this weekend and hope to have the pattern written and off to testers early next week and possibly get the last project started on Monday.

This is all I'll show you of the one on the hook now, It reminds me of the episode of the original Star Trek series with the two opposite guys that couldn't get along.

I also picked all the tomatos that were left on the giant plant that grew out of out compost. We had two morning frosts this week and all the foliage is dying. Now I just have to figure out what to do with 10 pounds of green cherry tomatos! Any ideas?

My fingers are knitting and crocheting their little heart out in between my best friends wedding rehearsal and wedding. Not to mention I am still finishing up moving. Yeah... I'm busy!!

Back to the orders.. I am so happy knowing that people like my stuff and would pay money for it. I am so addicted to knitting and crocheting that I sell my items to support my habit. Also, I get such a rush when I am making something for someone else. :) Whenever I make something for myself, I end up not finishing it or giving it away. To all my customers.. Here is the pattern I promised some people a week ago. Had a hard time writing the pattern. I really suck at this. I will only put the pattern of the stocking. You can use your imagination for the embellishment. For suggestions, you can use felt, or embroider a name on the cuff, or put beads! There's so much you can do!!!

So, here it goes.... good luck!

Materials needed:

F or G hook and medium worsted weight yarn (color of your choice)

Body
Rnd 1: With color of your choice, ch 24, join with
sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, dc in each ch.
Join with sl st on the 3rd ch of the first st.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc, join with sl st on the 3rd ch
of the first st.
Rnd 3-6: repeat round 2
Rnd 7: Ch 12, skip 12 sts, join with sl st on the 13th st
(This will make the hole for the heel)
Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join with sl st on the 3rd ch
of the first st of the round.
Rnd 9-11: rpt rnd 8
Rnd 12: (you can change yarn color in this round)Ch 3, [dc2tog, 1 dc]
around, join with sl st
Rnd 13: ch 3, dc2tog around. Fasten off, leaving a long tail end for sewing.
Turn the stocking inside out, sew the toe end together.

Heel:
Rnd1: On the 6th ch in Rnd 7, join with sl st(you can change color here)
Ch 3, dc on nxt 4 sts, dc2tog twice, dc on nxt 8 sts, dc2tog twice,
dc on next 3 sts, join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc on next 4 sts, dc2tog, dc on next 8 sts, dc2tog,
dc on nxt 3 sts, join with sl st, fasten off, leaving a long tail
end for sewing.
Sew opening.


Cuff:
Rnd 1: With a different color, Join with sl st on Rnd 1 of body (on the
wrong side), Ch 3, dc around every st, join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc around every dc, join with sl st. Fasten off.

Or instead of making a cuff, you can do picot edges.

It's a simple generic design for a cloche. I have a few ideas about jazzing it up a bit. But I think this has great potential.  I think I like it more than the other hats I've done so far because it kinda has a steampunk feel to it.  Oh that just gave me a wonderfull idea! I am so going to see about making some trim for this hat...

So, I decided to work on some little projects, like, bringing out my sewing machine and making a drawstring bag.  Unfortunately, I guess I've slightly lost my touch and well, that was a failure.  I guess I'm still adjusting to the new work space (hello 48x20" table from Home Depot) in addition to the lack of sewing all summer, but I'm sure I'll eventually get back in the groove.  I still need an apron :)

So, I started doing some more crochet projects since that was easy to carry around.  I finally created a successful project:

Yep, it's an amigurumi elephant.  My next project will be a turtle for Dickson.  I do have one other little project that's 95% done, but I need to figure out how to put eyes on it.

Oooh, and I'm on Ravelry now! It's addicting!  My user name is amatricis.

And is it a bad sign that I'm starting to think about Christmas shopping?

And she chose Dragon Rider on her own.  She also wanted to look at crochet books, since I have taught her to crochet, and she found the Stitch and Bitch Happy Hooker book, she was thrilled.

My younger daughter found some easy to read kids books, which are at her level, but not very interesting to me, and I found the Stitch and Bitch Nation book. That is ok, I have some here that I need to read too.

And this morning I sat down and worked the last 6 rows which made the shape of the hat. It was touch and go there for a moment before I realized what it was doing. I had some missgivings on how to put the whole thing together. But it worked out.

You can't really see the definition of the cables in this picture. Then again Simon isn't the best of models for the hat but he was more than happy to try.

It looks kind of funny covering the entirety of Simon's head...poor fella.

I am really happy with the end result and really after working the thing out I think this hat can actually be made in a day. Which is really cool.

I like the cables. The entire time I worked on this hat it felt like I was making a sweater. You know-the ones with the center cable down the front of it? I think I read somewhere that they are called Aran-style sweaters.

I have been interested in making some stuffed crocheted letters that looked more like letters that children easily recognize for a while. I had done some research on cross stitch programs, hoping that one might help me in the design process. Since I have a computer that uses Linux instead of Windows I had to do a little extra searching for a program, but have been pleased so far that it does what I need it to do.

Since I have been making large letter pillows, I decided that these letters should be a bit smaller so that it would not be a ridiculous amount of work or money to create an entire name. The upper case letters are ranging close to 9 inches high, while the lower case are around 7 if they do not have stems. I think they are large enough to be played with by a young child, although I would not necessarily hand one to a kid who tries to stick everything in his mouth without some supervision.

I decided to just start at a and work my way through the alphabet, although is not working out exactly that way since a lower case b can also be a p or a d, depending upon its orientation. Once I get these created, I would also like to make the patterns available for those who crochet. I am now lining up some people to test the patterns for me once I manage to get them into a nice and clean pdf format. I think the patterns themselves could be used for the stuffed creations as well as just making one side to use as an applique.

Next up for me is a capital D. I am looking forward to just about every letter, but I know I will have to do some experimenting to get lower case i and j to look the way I want them to look. Anyone have any suggestions for those?

I could ride my bike but unfortunately, I am not in any physical condition to make such a journey.  Perhaps a Saturday morning jaunt to Ocracoke would prove to be a good trip for me.  I don't have to ride the whole island but I could ride the whole village.  I'm sure there's a pub where I could grab some lunch then head back on the ferry.  I could spend the time on the ferry knitting, crocheting or reading.....hmm.  Do I sense a plan forming in my head...hmmmm.  Checking ferry schedule......

Pet peeves are political commericials (come on who needs to hear another one about how wrong this canidate or the other is), people who tell me to "Have a Good One".  A good what?, day, night, life, death, meal?  At least be specific.  People who ask "What are you knitting" when I crocheting.  Come on people  crocheting is with a single HOOK.  Knitting is with at least 2 pointed sticks.

Favorite foods, chocolate (did I mention chocolate), ice cream (has to be chocolate), cookies (chocolate, chocolate chip are the ultimate best) Did I mention I'm a chocoholic.  Doesn't help that I'm currently dieting, and I am only allowing myself a treat of 1 ounce or less of chocolate monthly.  (Bet all you ladies out there can quess when that is)

I don't watch a lot of movies ot tv so I don't really have a favorite actor, actress, movie, or show.  I do a lot of reading.  Favorite authors include: JR Ward, Nora Roberts, Carol Lynne (she is mostly and e-book publisher, you can find her at total e-bound, and torquere press), Mariah Stewart, Robyn Carr, Kate Douglas, JT Edson,  Louis L'Amour, Christine Feehan, Bobby Michaels ( e-book author, can be found at loose-id),  these are just the tip of the iceberg.  At the moment I have more than 100 print books in my to-be-read pile, and about 50 e-books waiting their turn.

I'll be back soon to share great finds, books, or to simply rant and rave about things that are currently sending my blood pressure through the roof.
