p/s: sorry for the format distortions here and there because I imported all the posts and comments from blogger and this new wordpress might displayed it wrong. still, there's alot to learn using this new wordpress since it uses different labelling system (categories and tags) which i didnt find in blogger.

Why Do People Blog?

I think I have been blogging long enough (somewhere around a year) to make a post about blogging without been called a hypocrite or anything of such like, so here goes. Today, whilst doing something completely unrelated to blogging, I found myself thinking 'why do people blog?' and then I started working out an answer.

The think the answer is a mixture of things; predominantly to express thoughts and feelings but maybe also to gain an online presence or to give information on a wide, wide range of things. Whichever, the answer is to do with yourself and yourself doing something. Before I talk more about why people blog, what is a blog? (Although given that you are reading this, I can't imagine you need me to explain!) Well, A blog is like an online diary of entries which you 'post' or 'write' to your blog in order for others to read. You can write about absolutely anything - no limits (although I certainly wouldn't suggest writing about any sort of terrorist activity etc. or you may be encountering a visit from the CIA, FBI or [in the UK] the Secret Service!!! ). Anyway, know you know what a blog is - back to that question, why?

Well, if you write a blog (and if you do please leave a comment with a URL to it, I would love to have a look) you will know that it is incredibly easy, and maybe this is why the blogging community is expanding at an astronomical speed. Another reason I feel people blog is because, as I have said, you can blog about anything, and surely whatever you choose to blog about there must be someone else interested in that somewhere in the world! So why not blog...

I would encourage people who don't blog, but have something interesting - and legal - to write about, to blog about it. There are a number of free services around Wordpress, Blogger, Blogspot... Just waiting for you to sign up :) Give it a go!
