Saxophone: with little effort, he makes a good tone, not too far off pitch.
Clarinet: even less effort, good strong sound.
Flute: not bad. Definitely workable.
Trumpet: not bad, could be great with work.
Trombone: not a problem.
Tuba: like a pro.

He has also tried out for percussion, but he really didn't have the coordination necessary. But the good news was that he was gonna be able to play whatever else he could possibly want to play! That made me pretty happy, really energized. The Percussion Director and I told him he could play whatever he wanted, and we're excited to see what he'll pick. Now I have two really good reasons to join band.

1) Because you want to be good at music.
2) Because you were born to play an instrument.

I've talked to Drummer Boy a lot.. he tried to keep the Drum Room door pulled shut - keeping me out- and then I whacked him in the back.. I blocked him out of the room with a vibraphone.. he saluted me in the hallway.. I asked him about his classes and we actually had a conversation about (he was smiling the whole time). Some days I think he may like me, some days not. Like.. every other day. I'm trying not to think about it too much and just let whatever this is come naturally.

My schedule isn't too bad... other than Calculus. I was already confused on the first day of school... however, it has gotten a little bit better. Actually, I quite like my schedule. I have Calc. first period, and then everything just gets easier from there. English is next, Economics, then my AP Drawing class. Followed by Digital Graphics, then Band, and then Animation. I actually tried to get out of animation on the second day of school because I'm not too sure we're going to to anything, but they wouldn't let me. Oh well, I'll probably end up loving the class.

We have a three day weekend this week, which is super awesome. Depending on the oh-so-wonderful Gustav, the Labor Day vacation may get extended. Who knows.

I actually thought of a really cool art project to do, so I hope I have time this weekend between all my Calc homework, getting ahead in English, getting ahead a bit in Economics, attempting to finish my Speech class, doing Drum shirt designs, learning Region music, working on my sketchbook prep, and catching some Z's.
Wow. When I put it all out like that it looks like a lot. x]

I'm doing my best to not think about a lot of things; like how this is my last year of high school, and how everything is about to change. Or how everything already IS changing. How much I already have changed.
I'm trying not to think about how the Jonas boys have come completely different people in just one year.
I keep thinking if I can keep some of these things out of my head, then I can stay happier, and not get overloaded with not so great emotions.

I finially figured out why I wasn't ever really sure of my feelings towards Demi (other than the fact that her dancing does NOT go with the music). She looks JUST LIKE a girl that is and has been in some of my art classes.

OoOoOoh! The girl that played Val in What I Like About You is going to be in the new 90210! Cool beans. I'll have to watch that just for her.

Have I mentioned that we're getting a new computer? :]]

A Record começou a fazer um barulho interessante em cima da Olimpíada em Londres. Na verdade, trata-se de uma conquista que merece as melhores comemorações, desde que exista a segurança de se realizar um trabalho igual ou superior ao que fizeram Globo e Bandeirantes na recente competição de Pequim. A prioridade número um é a montagem de toda uma estrutura, necessária e imprescindível, para a cobertura de um evento de tamanho porte.

Algo que a Record ainda não possui, tanto em termos artísticos ou jornalísticos, como técnico. Guardadas as proporções de tudo, desenvolver este projeto que vai culminar com a cobertura de 2012, será uma tarefa mais árdua e complicada do que adquirir a sua exclusividade. A Record estará diante de muitos desafios olímpicos que nem sempre o dinheiro - por mais fácil, valor ou importância que tenha - poderá comprar.

A participação de Regina Duarte em "Três irmãs", para viver a misteriosa "Waldete, com W", foi fechada em uma churrascaria, no Rio. Ela recusou o papel inicialmente oferecido, mas depois de ver o "cardápio" de "Três irmãs", se encantou com uma personagem que já era de outra atriz. "E quem vai dizer não para uma Regina Duarte?", pergunta o autor Antônio Calmon.

Ponto - 1

Quando se fala em Pan Americano - México e Olimpíada - Londres, a imprensa tem se referido apenas a Record e Globo. Uma porque ganhou e a outra porque ficará de fora desses dois importantes acontecimentos. Estranhamente, a Bandeirantes nunca aparece.

Ponto - 2

No Morumbi, a pergunta que mais se ouve é - "e nós, o que vamos fazer?" Na verdade, a Bandeirantes certamente transmitiria tudo se a parceira Globo fosse a detentora dos direitos. Como foi a Record quem comprou, existe a certeza de que não sairá negócio. E alguns dos seus diretores completam: "porque se saísse, haveria o risco de uma inversão de papéis: a Band, com muito mais know-how, seria a Globo da história".

Imperador

Com direção de Gabriel Vilella, Thiago Lacerda vai liderar o elenco de "Calígula", espetáculo que estréia em novembro no Sesc Vila Mariana, em São Paulo. Também no elenco, Walderez de Barros, Lu Grimaldi e Elias Andreato, entre outros. Gaius Caesar Germanicus, o Calígula, terceiro imperador romano, ficou conhecido por sua natureza cruel.

Parceria inusitada

A banda de rock Fresno e os sertanejos Chitãozinho e Xororó vão cantar juntos no próximo VMB (Vídeo Music Brasil), da MTV, dia 2 outubro no Credicard Hall. A música ainda não foi definida, mas será do repertório da dupla.

Está fora

Como acontece em todos os anos, Ivete Sangalo tinha acertado a sua participação no "Teleton", do SBT, mas acabou desmarcando. Problemas na agenda.

Acertando

O troca-troca no "Malhação", com a saída do diretor Mário Marcio Bandarra e entrada Luís Pillar, está certo e vai mesmo acontecer, mas não será agora. Só no começo do ano que vem.

Altos e baixos

Primeira-dama da Rede TV!, Daniela Albuquerque deixou o pessoal do "Pânico" para trás. O programa de cirurgias plásticas "apresentado" por ela é o mais novo campeão de correspondências da emissora. Já em audiência, a situação é outra. Está bem atrás.

O que mudar?

A Record tem promovido grupos de discussão em São Paulo e no Rio para tentar identificar o que está errado com a novela "Chamas da vida". O Ibope continua baixo. Perde todos os dias do "Pantanal", do SBT.

The OCD is cool, much beefier than the 808, but I'm still not feeling the love.

To determine whether it is my baggage, and therefore the fodder for a counselor or other qualified mental health professional or if I am correctly perceiving reality, I am going to go out to the rehearsal space early tomorrow and spend some time messing with my tone. It's too hard to do that when everyone's there and trying to talk, etc... I still do it, of course, as I'm trying to live up to the guitar player stereotype, but it leaves me feeling empty and dead inside and we can't have that now can we.?

I hesitate to say this with the amount of fallout it caused last time, but I will post (possibly with pictures) after the gig Sunday.

Oh, I almost forgot, we named the band "Absolute Zero". It doesn't really make sense, but if I brought out all of the names in music history with this problem, this would be an even longer post.

It started off that we had to go into the auditorium and find our prefect and go sit in that section (prefect is like the equivalent of homeroom, except it only occurs onces every 3 weeks a.k.a. twice a month to get important info and papers like transcripts and report cards). Anyway, I made friends with some people in my prefect. Anyway, after listening to a few speeches from the principal, ap's, and saftey and health director and stuff, we were guided by our group leaders (older students) around different areas of the building such as the hall of fame, the library, the school store (where we bought our gym clothes and the specific lock needed for the gym lockers), the lunch room, the gym etc.

Then we headed to our prefect room where they just talked to us explaining different things about the bell schedule and clubs and other things like that. They handed out agendas/planners for us to have and gave out our program cards, transcript, lunch forms, and a notice about activating our new school provided email accounts.

We also got an activity that I believe was to help break the ice with our fellow students. It was a little game that required us to talk to each and ask questions to get to know each other and see if they fit certain categories like 'Find someone who is a yankee fan'. Then they had to sign their name next to the category and the game would continue.

Anyway, we also got our ID cards and things like that, and I found out all my classes.

The way the schedule works in my school is that it runs on a two week cycle. Each day in the two school weeks is given a number from 1 to 10.

So Monday is 1, Tuesday-2, Wednesday-3 etc. When you get to Friday (5), the next number (6) is the following Monday. So 7-10 is Tuesday through Friday.

So 1-10 is two school weeks. Whatever order they have your classes in, after those two weeks, the cycle repeats. So you don't have to have the same classes or the same order every week. Instead it's every two weeks.

Now, depending on how many classes you're taking, some people have a schedule from period 1-9 while others have a 2-9 schedule which means that...well they get to sleep a little more and have one less class x_X grrr.. But anyway, I have a normal, full day of 1-9. (Whereas 3 of my friends have 2-9 and 3 other friends have 1-9). I have no free periods..so yea, i wasn't expecting any I guess, after all, it's a specialized high school. (ALTHOUGH STUY STUDENTS GET FREE PERIODS! WTH!)

*sigh* well anyway. What I've gathered from comparing schedules with my friends is that most of the freshmen have two periods that change everyday. Because they change, those are the ones that you have to look at their cycle numbers for.

So 6 of my classes (7 if you count lunch) occur 12345678910 (which means every day) at the same times.

(Btw, the class that makes me and my other friends have a 1-9 is Band)

So you may have notices that I left out periods 1 and 2. Well that's because those are the ones that change for me everyday. So here's a list of my periods 1 and 2 every day in both week 1 and week 2 of the cycle.

So you finally have a band together. The sound is tight, unique. You got your website up (finally), started working on a CD, found the most solid drummer ever. You’ve only played a few times live but the audience was really receptive and there’s a definite buzz going on locally. There’s a feeling of success in the air.

Great. Now how do you make sure you keep the ball and rolling and don’t end up on the massive scrapheap of Bands That Used to Be? What are the signs that your group may be headed for a fall?

1. Lateness:

Lateness is such a big deal; it could be number 1, 2 and 3! Nothing drains a band more than flakiness. Lateness needs to be addressed early on, so no bad habits develop. Sure, there are the occasional emergencies. But habitual lateness can really spell trouble. And no long-winded BS excuses like “I tried to call but my cell phone died and then I jumped on the subway but it exploded and then my cat had hairball and had to be rushed to the vet. Sorry dude.”

Along with lateness goes constantly changing the rehearsal dates.  You have to be working with like-minded individuals who are fully committed.  You don’t need to hear, “Oh that’s the night Lost is on. Can’t make it.”

2. Drug and Alcohol Use

Listen, you are musicians, not angels. But when the lead singer runs offstage to barf? Come on. That’s for kids. Besides, for the rest of the band, it’s like playing with a zombie. The music suffers. The performance suffers. If you are serious about your music, you’re sober, at least onstage. Don’t cite examples of all of the successful musicians who were messed up all the time – a lot of them are dead or in rehab!

3. Personal Problems

We all have our personal crap going on but when it affects your work, you need to re-evaluate how you handle your “behind-the-scenes” life. Whether you’re going through a divorce, an illness or you just had an argument with the cab driver, you need to know how to mentally disconnect from it and get down to business. It actually feels better to enter rehearsal or a show feeling “clean” of the daily stuff that can really pin us under if we let it.

Successful bands are based on a mutual level of commitment. The amount of commitment it takes to be a successful, working musician or band is more than most professions because there are so many external obstacles built-in.

Além de super shows com Cláudia Leite, Daniel, Guilherme & Santiago, Leovander e Zé Henrique & Gabriel, o programa tem ainda uma divertida matéria com Aline Lima e o CountryStar Leovander, que foram às compras para "traiar" o moço.

Desde o dia 17 de Março de 2008 as noites de segunda-feira na TV brasileira não são mais as mesmas, graças ao programa CQC - Custe o Que Custar, na emissora BAND.

Numa mistura de jornalismo e humor inteligente – e muitas vezes ácido – os agora oito integrantes da equipe do CQC apresentam as principais notícias que aconteceram durante a última semana no mundo político, esportivo e dos famosos, sempre de maneira diferenciada e com muitas piadas satíricas, mostrando não ter medo de ninguém. Kapanlagi.com - Usai album pertama, Everybody Loves Irene (ELI) kembali menghiasi industri musik tanah air. Kali ini mereka meluncurkan sebuah album terbaru dengan tajuk ON THE SECOND THOUGHT, I MIGHT WANNA CHANGE SOME THINGS.

Dibuka dengan single Rindu, ELI menjagokan lagu lawas dari band indie pop legendaris era '90an, Planet Bumi, yang diolah kembali dalam irama trip-hop dengan bebunyian rhodes serta string dan diimbuhi oleh loop repetitif yang membius. Lagu ini adalah satu-satunya yang berbahasa Indonesia di antara 10 lagu yang ada.

Di album kedua, ELI membawa suasana baru dengan melakukan eksperimen terhadap beberapa bunyi. Misalnya saja di single Blood In A Rush, di mana suara Irene, sang vokalis, serasa ditahan padahal ia memang bernyanyi dalam posisi berbaring.

Begitu juga yang ada dalam lagu No One Here's Alone. Sampling suara diambil dari pekerja bangunan yang sedang membangun rumah dekat studio rekaman. Dan di lagu Solitude Dialogue, ada part drum yang dimainkan secara tidak biasa.

Masih dengan formasi dari album sebelumnya, Yudhi (gitar), Aulia (synthsizer), Dimas (bass), Mulyadi (drum), dan Irene (vocal), ELI mengangkat beberapa tema sekaligus dalam album kedua ini. I managed to get a few pictures to show here later, but for the most part I was completely absorbed in five hours of thrashing, drinking, headbanging, and roaring along with everyone else there. The bands were incredible, particularly Scamp (the lead vocalist, Mikael Rise, poured a gasoline-tank full of whisky on our heads) and Hatesphere (who had the entire pit thrashing insanely their entire set). We went there not knowing exactly what to expect, and staggered out of pure, metal awesome about five hours later.

All in all it was just f***ing amazing. Especially since this was on a goddamn thursday. Friday morning with three hours of sleep, several bruises and a hangover is kinda brutal, though.

(Sorry about long post and lack of pictures, I'll post some another day.)

O programa Quem Pode Mais, de Daniela Cicarelli, na Band, iria para o sábado já a partir desta semana, mas houve mudança de planos.

Segundo a coluna Zapping, o programa foi adiado e ele deve voltar, todo reformulado, em outubro.

Nama BONUS sendiri diambil diambil secara spotanitas saat band yang digawangi oleh Bimo Sulaksono (Drum), Willy (gitar), Epoy (bass) dan Anda Wardhana (Vocal) sedang bercengkrama usai latihan. “Satu-satunya yang terpikirkan oleh kita saat itu adalah semoga BONUS bisa menjadi BONUS bagi semua orang. Menjadi sebuah hadiah yang baik, yang dinanti-nanti dan membawa kebahagiaan bagi siapa saja,” ujar Bimo ‘pentolan’ band ini.

Para personil BONUS sendiri bukanlah orang baru di belantika musik Indonesia, seperti Bimo sang drummer, musisi yang satu ini sudah malang melintang di dunia musik Indonesia. Bimo adalah mantan drummer band Netral, Ahmad Band, Romeo, TBK, dan juga Juliette, salah satu band KFC Music Hit List. Selain memiliki jam terbang yang tinggi, ia juga memiliki karakter yang khas pada pukulan drum-nya, sehingga pengerjaan album Bonus ini menjadi semakin matang.

Pada gitar ada Willy, pengalamannya di beberapa band sebelumnya, seperti Gamma dan Romeo memberikan nuansa baru pada album Bonus ini. Ia banyak mengadaptasi sound gitar band-band Inggris yang kental dengan distorsi-nya. Sementara, Epoy yang juga mantan personil Romeo, didaulat untuk mengisi posisi bass.

Permainannya pada album BONUS ini banyak terinspirasi oleh band-band Inggris dan Jepang, yang kaya warna. Sedangkan posisi frontman dipercayakan pada Anda. Karakter vokalnya yang ‘serak-serak basah’ dan kental dengan nuansa blues membuat perbendaharaan BONUS terasa semakin kaya.

Warna & konsep musik BONUS sangat berbeda dengan band-band yang pernah dilahirkan oleh Bimo. Sebut aja, Netral yang aliran musiknya terlalu rock alternatif dan Romeo yang aransemen musiknya sangat kental dengan sentuhan sound oldies dan sangat pengaruhi oleh musik evergreen yang diusung oleh Andy William, Frank Sinatra, The Carpenter & Barry Manilow. Hanya saja, pengaruh unsur string section yang tetap masih terasa dalam band yang diusung Bimo kali ini. Urusan string section ini diserahkan kepada SAUNINE orchestra, agar perpaduan aliran musik pop rock dan lirik-lirik bertemakan cinta yang diusung oleh BONUS menjadi sangat terasa.

Album yang bertajuk “Life Bonus” ini mencoba memberikan warna baru yang lebih variatif dalam lagu-lagunya, lebih easy listening dan lebih nge-beat dari 12 lagu di dalamnya. “Pokoknya siapapun yang mendengar lagu-lagu pada album ini akan merasakan suasana yang sangat berbeda di setiap lagunya,” tambah Bimo

Lagu “KUREBUT HATINYA KEMBALI,” dipilih sebagai single pertama. Dua album yang penjualan sama-sama meroket beberapa bulan terakhir adalah album kompilasi KFC Music Hit List volume 1 dan solo album Juliette. Album ini sama-sama mendapat double platinum karena berhasil terjual lebih dari 150.000 keping di store KFC di seluruh Indonesia (350 store).
