<p style="text-align:justify;">Intentamos que, en su nueva residencia, Chita tenga una vida un poco más entretenida y activa. Para eso, introducimos en su cotidianidad elementos de entretenimiento como los mostrados aquí. Estos ítems hacen que el animal tenga que entretenerse para conseguir la comida o algún que otro extra.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La falta de voluntarios no nos permite desarrollar un programa de enriquecimiento como el que desearíamos, pero esperamos subsanar esta carencia a medida que el proyecto avance.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Hace unos meses recogimos un ejemplar de visón americano que cayó en una jaula trampa. Ésta es una especie invasora y ha sido la responsable (entre otras razones) de la desaparición del visón europeo.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Este animal no puede volver al medio natural por el peligro que supone para la fauna autóctona, así que se decidió esterilizarlo (para evitar problemas más graves en caso de una posible fuga) e instalarlo en esta pequeña instalación a la espera de encontrarle un destino apropiado.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">El 20 de abril nos hacemos cargo de un macho joven de Macaca silvana procedente de un decomiso por parte de los Mossos d'Esquadra a un particular. El animal se encontraba atado con una cadena en el interior de una pequeña jaula.</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">En este video facilitado por la asociación Gaia podemos ver cómo vivía Coco</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Después del decomiso, el animal fue acogido temporalmente por la asociación <a href="http://www.adoptaranimals.org/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Gaia</strong></span></a> hasta que DEPANA pudo habilitar un espacio adecuado. En Gaia se le puso chip identificativo y se le realizó la analítica para descartar presencia de zoonosis.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Gracias al interés de Gaia por este animal y a la actuación de los Mossos d'Esquadra, Coco (así le llaman) ha  podido ser rescatado y formará parte de un grupo familiar con miembros de su propia especie, procedentes también del comercio de mascotas exóticas.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Mo es una cría hembra de <em>Macaca silvana</em> recogida, en febrero de 2008, por los Agentes Rurales en Viladecans y depositada en el Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Autóctona deTorreferrusa.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-13" style="border:1px solid black;margin:5px 10px;" src="http://proyectoattentio.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/mo1.jpg?w=200" alt="" width="156" height="233" /></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Una vez recibido el aviso de la Generalitat, miembros de DEPANA, junto con el servicio veterinario contratado para estos casos, se esplazan el día 16 hasta Torreferrusa para hacerse cargo del animal (de unos 7 meses de edad). En el mismo centro se anestesia al animal para realizarle inspección general de su estado de salud, marcado identificativo mediante chip, pesado (1,9kg), extración de muestras de heces y sangre para una analítica completa y realización de la prueba de la tuberculina.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">El animal es trasladado las instalaciones de APAN: protectora de animales que colabora con DEPANA en la acogida y mantenimiento de este tipo de animales. Se la instala en un módulo interior que hace las funciones de cuarentena. En pocos días, los resultados de las analíticas realizadas mostrarán que este individuo no presenta ningún tipo de enfermedad, ni parásitos internos y su estado de salud es bueno.</p>

Durante este tiempo y a la espera de la entrada de otro individuo que pueda asociarse con ella, los miembros del centro tienen que hacer de compañeros de juegos del animal, cosa nada desehable, pues el proyecto Attentio intenta evitar la impronta con humanos que impida una posterior buena relación con congeneres de su especie. Pese a esto, Mo mantiene su recelo ante las personas y siempre se asegura que exista una distancia de seguridad ante desconocidos, cosa que nos alegra enormemente,</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">La recogida de Coco un par de meses después hará cambiar las cosas y nos permite facilitarle un compañero de juegos adecuado.</p>

Nå hevdes det at sosiale medier kan <a target="_blank" href="http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN2346549820070823?pageNumber=1">avgjøre presidentvalget i 2008</a>. De fleste presidentkandidatene har opprettet profiler på <a target="_blank" href="http://www.facebook.com/">Facebook</a> og <a target="_blank" href="http://www.myspace.com/">MySpace.</a> Her prøver de å påvirke unge velgere som faller utenfor de tradisjonelle kommunikasjonskanalene. Barack Obama og hans kampanjestab har over <a href="http://coltpr.wordpress.com/files/2007/09/facebook_obama.jpg"><font color="#003366">143.000 supportere</font></a> og leder klart over sin demokratiske motkandidat Hillary Clinton med sine <a href="http://coltpr.wordpress.com/files/2007/09/facebook_clinton.jpg"><font color="#003366">41.400 supportere</font></a>. Den republikanske presidentkandidaten Rudy Giuliani er nok ikke helt på nett, og har <a href="http://coltpr.wordpress.com/files/2007/09/facebook_giuliani.jpg"><font color="#003366">2.000 supportere</font></a> på Facebook, og Giuliani sin datter <a href="http://slate.com/id/2171730/">Caroline</a> er en av de 143.000 supporterne til Obama. Det høstes tvil om alle disse online supportere vil stemme under valget, i følge <a href="http://www.youngvoterstrategies.org/index.php?tg=articles&#38;topics=14&#38;mylocation=About%20Us#art63">Kathleen Barr</a>, administrerende direktør i undersøkelsesbyrået Rock the Vote.    </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';">Norske politikere har også innsett viktigheten av å profilere seg i sosiale medier. En <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kommunevalget2007.no/">måling</a> foretatt av statsviter <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kommunevalget2007.no/">Dag Petter Svendsen</a> og <a target="_blank" href="http://www.attentio.com/">Attentio</a> viser at Arbeiderpartiet og Sosialistisk Venstreparti brukte <a target="_blank" href="http://www.youtube.com/">Youtube</a> aktivt i valgkampanjen 2007. Rune Gerhardsen og Marianne Borgen har begge høy buzzfrekvens på Youtube i forhold til andre listekandidater og det spekuleres om dette er en planlagt valgkampstrategi for de rødgrønne.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';"></span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';">Blant våre partiledere har Jens Stoltenberg, Erna Solberg og Åslaug Haga registrert seg på Facebook, eller så opererer andre i deres gode navn. Selv om Erna Solberg og Høyre ble årets valgvinner har hun svak oppslutning på Facebook med<a href="http://coltpr.wordpress.com/files/2007/09/facebook_erna.jpg"><font color="#003366"> 29 venner</font></a>. Stoltenberg går seirende ut av Facebook-vennekrigen med <a href="http://coltpr.wordpress.com/files/2007/09/facebook_jens.jpg"><font color="#003366">171 venner</font></a>. Åslaug Haga har opprettet en lukket profil men fortsatt kan vi kikke på vennelisten til Haga, som utgjør 129 venner.</span></p>

The Prize is organised by Euro-CASE with the sponsorship and support of the European Commission.</p>
<p>On 16 March 2007, the EC will hand out Grand Prizes to 3 companies, carefully selected out of 70 nominees. They will be given a check of 200 000 euro. Since the creation of the Prize in 1995, there has never been a Belgian Grand Prize winner.</p>

<p>Artikkelen omhandler at politikere bør gå bort fra full satsing på massemedia og heller konsentrere seg mer om å være til stede på nett. Ved å bruke målingsverktøy kan politikere f.eks. måle sin egen popularitet og finne ut hvilke temaer som er aktuelle. Dette gjøres ved å hente info fra <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blogging">blogging</a> og <a href="http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nettsamfunn">nettsamfunn</a>. Colt har tilgang på målingsverktøyet <a href="www.attentio.com">Attentio</a> som brukes til å måle buzz på nett.</p>
<p>Over fire millioner nordmenn er på nett, derfor er viktigheten av å være tilstede enorm.</p>
<p>- Det hele dreier seg om å gjøre livet enklere for forbrukerne. Bedrifter, organisasjoner og politikere har et ansvar for å utnytte mulighetene til å lytte og delta på samtalene der ute. Det er over fire millioner nordmenn på Internett, sier Marius Eriksen, seniorrådgiver i <a href="http://www.gcicommunique.no">GCI Communique</a>, til <a href="www.db.no">Dagbladet</a>. GCI Communique og <a href="http://www.coltpr.no/">Colt Kommunikasjon</a> er de eneste byråene i Norge som har spesialisert seg på rådgivning innen <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_media">digitale medier</a>.</p>
<p>Dette var en veldig spennende artikkel med tanke på hva dette betyr for fremtiden i forbindelse med PR og sosiale medier i Norge. Næringslivet flørter med tanken og mange større aktører har satt av store ressurser for satsing i sosiale medier. I politikken begynner man å forstå at kommunikasjon i denne kanalen bare blir viktigere. Artikkelen i dagens utgave av Dagbladet viser at debatten er igang og er levende.</p>
<p>Personlig tror jeg på ketchup-effekten. Når de første store kommersielle aktørene virkelig tar et standpunkt og markerer seg i sosiale medier, vil resten komme etter. Når dette skjer, vil tiden vise, men plutselig er dagen her...</p>

<p>As one who's often talking about these trends myself it was nice to see how someone else presents a case for PR utilisation of social media and it encapsulated very powerfully that people are having conversations around your brand right now. The content they create, whether good or bad, stays in search engines forever.</p>
<p><strike>Charles Liebert</strike><em> </em>David Rademaker from Emakina gave a compelling presentation setting out to update the old golden rules of PR (as summarised by Leo Burnett) and created a new set of PR 2.0 rules</p>

<p>The theme which summarised the day was social media PR is not just about cultivating a brand online but also providing brand guardianship.</p>
<p>Has anyone read the book <a href="http://emanuel-rosen.com/">The Anatomy of Buzz by Emanuel Rosen</a>? I'm thinking about checking it out, would love to hear recommendations.</p>

Most participants would agree that for a first edition, it was a success, and that organizer Robin Wauters managed to put Brussels on the web 2.0 circuit, alongside London's <a href="http://www.futureofwebapps.com/past-events.html#londonOct07">FOWA</a>, Paris' <a href="http://leweb3.com">LeWeb3</a>, and Amsterdam's <a href="http://2008.thenextweb.org">TheNextWeb</a>.</p>
<p>Rebecca Jennings from Forrester Research gave us <a href="http://www.forrester.com/Research/Document/Excerpt/0,7211,44854,00.html">some facts and figures</a> about the European social demographics. Her study splits the public depending on their degree of involvement with social media ("participation ladder") into Creators (10%), Critics (19%), Collectors (9%), Joiners (13%), Spectators (40%) and Inactives (53%).</p>
<p><a href="http://www.atlasventure.com/ourteam/default.cfm?is=technology">Max Niederhofer</a> from <a href="http://www.atlasventure.com/">Atlas Venture</a> got us excited about the online gaming market, and offered four ways to build a 100 M$ company :</p>

<li>build the world's largest casual game ("Poke" on Facebook being the current leader...)</li>
<li>build Europe's digital distribution platform for games</li>
<li>get micro-currency applied to gaming</li>
<li>successful browser based MMOG (that one would have to be bootstrapped by its founders)</li>

<p>An entrepreneurs panel moderated by <a href="http://www.balloupr.com/en/index.php?menu=1&#38;sel=1&#38;sub=0">Colette Ballou</a> offered insights by <a href="http://sepulveda.net/">Rodrigo Sepulveda</a> (<a href="http://vpod.tv">vpod.tv</a>), <a href="http://bomega.com/">Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten</a> (several startups, including <a href="http://flock.com">Flock</a> and <a href="http://thenextweb.org">TheNextWeb</a>), Simon McDermott (<a href="http://attentio.com">Attentio.com</a>), Andrej Nabergoj (<a href="http://www.noovo.com">Noovo</a>). Some highlights :<!--more--></p>
<ul>
<li>markets are local by default ; it is important to find the right partners to help launch in other countries ;</li>
<li>beware of cash flow : sales cycles tend to be really long, companies are often afraid of dealing with startups, and pay with long delays</li>
<li>Rodrigo came up with some delightful analogies : starting a company is like having sex for the first time (you don't have a clue) ; and setting up a subsidiary in Spain is like a wedding (with a long ceremonial by the notary)</li>
<li>Andrej : people are key, take the time to find exceptional people for the initial team ; it will be the matrix out of which the company will grow ;</li>
<li>Boris : the hardest thing is just to start ; get started !</li>
</ul>
<p>The startup rally saw the presentation by 18 companies (2 had forfeited). Some projects depended on a quite technical platform, like <a href="http://www.cellity.com">Cellity</a>, <a href="http://www.floobs.com">Floobs</a>, <a href="http://www.myowndb.com">MyOwnDB</a>, <a href="http://www.trutap.com">Trutap</a>... Other were mostly a nice idea, well put into form, such as <a href="http://humangrid.eu">HumanGrid</a>, <a href="http://tvtrip.com">TVTrip</a>, <a href="http://www.mobiya.com">Mobiya</a>. After seeing all of them, <a href="http://www.alenty.com">Alenty</a> and <a href="http://www.radionomy.com">Radionomy</a> remained among my own favorite, truly "2.0" in essence (some of the former still smelled a bit "web 1.0", I won't tell which).</p>
<p>The three finalists ended up being :<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/alper/2346670103/" title="Viewdle, Bragster, ZiLok"><img src="http://europe20.wordpress.com/files/2008/03/finalists.jpg" alt="Viewdle, Bragster, ZiLok" align="right" /></a></p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.bragster.com">Bragster</a> : a platform for sharing "dares", in a "Jackass meets Facebook and YouTube" fashion (and indeed one founder <a href="http://www.bragster.com/dare/10367-throw-pie-bertrands-face">threw a pie on his co-founder's face</a> on stage)</li>
<li><a href="http://www.viewdle.com">Viewdle</a> : a platform for doing elaborate searches on videos (with a COO in a nice suit and tie, in complete contrast to the Bragster guys)</li>
<li><a href="http://zilok.com">ZiLok</a> : a rental marketplace, started in Belgium, France, UK, US (and two cool founders as well, even without pie-throwing)</li>
</ul>
<p>Viewdle won the Jury award, while ZiLok went away with the prize of the public. Two companies to watch ! (Bragster is already being watched by 800.000 unique visitors monthly)</p>
<p>The investor panel gathered <a href="http://www.ariadnecapital.com/team_julie.htm">Julie Meyer</a> (<a href="http://www.ariadnecapital.com">Ariadne Capital</a>), <a href="http://www.thecoffeeshopsofmayfair.com/">Paul Fisher</a> (<a href="http://www.adventventures.com">Advent Venture Partners</a>), Reshma Sohoni (<a href="http://seedcamp.com">SeedCamp</a>), Alexis Bogaert (<a href="http://www.arkafund.be">Dexia Private Equity / Arkafund</a>), moderated by Mike Butcher (<a href="http://uk.techcrunch.com">TechCrunch UK &#38; Europe</a>). Some points :</p>
<ul>
<li>Paul Fisher : eastern and central european markets are very hot ; so is the next wave of internet advertising ;</li>
<li> Julie Meyer : a core group of people build companies counter-cyclically with the stock market, that's a smart timing</li>
<li>Reshma Sohoni : there are a lot more angel investors now ; start thinking internationally early on</li>
<li>Mike Butcher mentioned "Enterprise 2.0" as an area of interest for the future</li>
</ul>
<p>The panel on the Social Web was very promising, with very competent people like Olivier Creiche (<a href="http://sixapart.com">Six Apart</a>), Matt Colebourne (<a href="http://www.cocomment.com">coComment</a>), Lorenz Bogaert (<a href="http://www.netlog.com">Netlog</a>), Jan-Joost Kraal (<a href="http://www.ebuddy.com">eBuddy</a>). I found the discussion only mildly interesting, with people agreeing that it was very important to offer fine privacy control ("<i>I don't want my mother /girlfriend to see that I'm doing this</i>"). Brands and companies better beware of these new social venues, as put by Matt Colebourne :</p>
<blockquote><p>the era in which you can control what people say about your brand is gone.</p></blockquote>
<p>Still, François Petavy from <a href="http://www.eyeka.com">Eyeka</a> tried to show how brands can indeed try and organize the creativity that can spring up from a dedicated user community.</p>
<p>Rudy De Waele (from <a href="http://m-trends.org">m-trends.org</a>) delivered an insightful presentation on the future of mobile, citing dozens of new innovative startups.</p>
<p>As always, it's also in the alleysides that we get to meet some interesting entrepreneurs and projects, such as : <a href="http://www.rummble.com">Rummble</a>, <a href="http://myid.is">MyID.is</a>, or <a href="http://www.tripsay.com">TripSay</a>.</p>
<p>All in all, a pretty good harvest of new and exciting projects to share with you in the next days and weeks.</p>

The atricle ponders whether the cost, at $88 p/m, is a little prohibitive but if it does what it's meant to I don't think that's too much of an issue.</p>
<p><img width="304" src="http://grapevineconsulting.wordpress.com/files/2008/02/trk_logo.jpg" alt="Trackur" height="85" style="width:225px;height:50px;" />I checked out the <a target="_blank" href="http://blip.tv/file/667277" title="demo">demo </a>and the first thing that struck me was that there was no way of seeing at a glance whether you or your product were being spoken about in reverential tones or if a blogger is <em>'about to flush [your reputation] down the toilet'</em> to quote the slightly odd text on the website.</p>
<p>While the tool itself seems to look well put together, easy to use and good at filtering results, if you're seriously monitoring online reputation, especially on a large scale, this ability to get a feel for the trends of online coverage is important. The demo highlights this by performing a search for Google which returns over 2000 results for one day alone. How are you supposed to cut through all the "so, I did a quick Google search" mentions and find out if any issues are building without reading all of those entries?</p>
<p>I know this technology is not easy to create or 100% accurate but I've seen this type of tone indicator in practise with <a target="_blank" href="http://www.attentio.com/" title="Attentio">Attentio</a>'s social media monitoring tool and it's hard to imagine not having that capability.</p>
